The Dreaming Current is here, and several people already have its candies in their pockets. Certified "oh shit" moment. It's not a priority right this minute but we had better not forget about it.

Well, you're pretty sure that illegal income is taxable, but that generally only applies when you've been caught. You don't pay taxes, but not paying taxes would be a good way for the L.G.D to get you and your accomplices in jail if they cannot prove they committed the crimes you committed. It's pretty clever, overall. They almost nailed you down for tax evasion before you dodged the charges with some… dynamic accounting.

Wympe went pale when you told her that, though.

Apparently criminals have to pay taxes back in the City. It sounds like a weirder place every time someone tells you about it. Not only do criminal syndicates have to pay taxes to "The Head," they will actually see paying their taxes as a major priority.

You asked her what made regular business and criminal business different, if both are following the laws.

She said that the Head really couldn't care any less about the local laws on organ harvesting or drug trafficking and the like, as long as you paid your taxes on time. Those were the purview of more local powers, such as the Wings and the Zwei Association.
Uhm. Capone would be quite acknowledged with this system. He grew under it. Like pretty much saying "nah, I'm in Columbia now, I don't need to give a cut any more" is what got Texas family purged.

So it would be more like "ah, those taxes".

Well, not like his family were faithful followers of Signora Sicilia, but it doesn't mean he don't know that system.

Rip Adrien, we hardly knew ye. Truely the saddest character death of 2023.

The one who Adriens better make good use of that humanity.

So, we've got this high inquisitor dude now. Question is, will he go apeshit when he sees Wympe's gills, or will he be more reasonable? If we get into a fight, Capone using his tentacles will he unavoidable, and we'll lose 2 potential allies against the sea-fiends. If we try and talk it out, it could go south but it's not a guarantee. This singer person might also have some stakes in this whole deal too but I don't know who she is.

We STILL have no leads as to where Arabella is. We might not even get any until shit officially hits the fan, but we might get some vague direction if we don't start a fight here.

Yeah, my mistake. Rewrote that scene a little.

Let's do anything but fighting them please. There's an entire list of problems we'll need to deal with still.

The One Who Watches
First To Talk&Bishop Quintus
Dreaming Current
And possibly Gladia.

Let's not add to the pile of our problems, yeah?

Explaining stuff again does nothing to hurt us and while Dario isn't exactly happy about us at the moment there's no reason to provoke him further.

No ToWW is not a problem. Arabella should take responsibility bring it with her.
Imagine having a Sea-Fiend wanting to be human as an Office member.

I think the chances aren't great, but I can't help but wish just to get the most strange people to come with us.

Its even trying to get emotions and individuality and become a "True Bloodfiend". Sounds like Arabelle's new intern.

Thing is - IIRC Signora Sicilia is a head of state, not just crime. So it's kinda "funny" situation with Siracusan Families. They are obligated by law to do their due. Just "I'm no longer Siracusan" is not an excuse.

I am now regretting trying to say that Adrien was just annoying. The guy's an actual asshole, fuck him. Though at least the Seaborn are proving themselves cool through TOWW's and FOT's badassery.

Well, that's what I get for not remembering what I read from the translations of Ill Siracusano and general Texas stuff. But that's changed now in the text. Hopefully I won't need to correct it yet again.

Well since Abram is in Terra and not a disembodied entity this implies that Adam is also running around. You know, with Whitnight the Anti-Christ.

I assume that Siegheart will be the highest priority target because he has the grape candy, due to the Dreaming Current mentioning it as 'the kid's' favorite one in LobCorp.

Maybe we're very lucky and like Irene he'll just think Wympe is also an Aegir?

Not like pure humans like City people are normal here, I think.

Not much better to be honest, the inquisiton is known for Aegir Genocide in fear that they are all Church of the Deep members. While 50% ish of Aegirs are Cultists, the other 50% were genuinely loyal to Iberia.

Now Dario the Grand Inquisitor is willing to work with an Aegir temporarily but he is still a very temporary ally, so I think the best option is throw him at Quintus who we know about and being a Bishop should live a church which is the biggest building in the city. Quintus is a bigger threat than us in terms of problems which we can prove by showing that he set up the fucked up fish shell lottery and the horrible experiments based on Seaborne. We literally just arrived yesterday how would the Singer or us have set up a lab to do horrible experiments.

[x] Blame Bishop Quintus
-[x]Quintus is some mad cult leader working together with these monsters
--[x]Validate this by pointing out that he is the one who set up the fucked up food lottery which the townsfolk can validate.
--[x] He also captured one of my friends who is a VAMPIRE Sarkaz and is probably doing horrible experiments to her which is why we are here to rescue her.
--[x] He may have more monsters in his pocket, so we temporarily work together. Your apprentice is exhausted, so in a conflict it would be mostly you alone.

Rough plan, Wympe is the one who has been in the town the longest so she has more to tell.

[] Wympe Report!
-[] Explain that Wympe is the one who has stayed in town the longest, have her explain what happened on her side of events, add in about your own observations.
-[] Ask Wympe about the mutations and if the inquisitors know anything, be ready to protect Wympe as you are unsure how they would react to that knowledge.
-[] Tell them you suspect Arabella is held captive by the bishop who is probably using her somehow to create the Sea Fiends.
-[] When talking is done, say you, Capone and Wympe are heading forwards the church to rescue Arabella. Don't forget the blood bags.

You are The One Who Watches, and you hate yourself.

You do not truly understand what "hate" is.

But Mother hates you.
Be "born." Mother renounce and hate you. Proceeds to hate self.

Don't worry TOWW, you're already a step away from becoming human. Now you just need a proper name, something cool and can grab mother's attention... something like "Arabella!"

You don't want just his blood. You want to understand Mother. You want to be a "True Bloodfiend," just like she is.
It really be "Mother are you proud of me yet?" Maybe if you morph the body to be more like your mother's but with kuranta part she might be proud of you!

But a Seaborn cannot become a Bloodfiend. The most you can reach is a hybrid- an incomplete existence that cannot sustain itself for long. It will inevitably collapse under its own incompatibility.
Also this seems important.

Dario's here woo!

Thankfully, Dario's a lot more reasonable than Irene. We can talk to him and get him to tolerate us since he recognizes how being too dogmatic is bad for the Iberia as a whole. When we have him as a ally, we'll have secured Irene's non-hostility too. He's the one who ultimately taught Irene to follow what her heart tells her is right rather than hiding behind scriptures.

Granted, he was willing to blow up Sal Viento but trust me, he's as good of a guy as you can get in a Inquisition!

[X] Keep your story straight with what you've told Irene before. You're here to look for missing friends and got mixed up in all of this.
-[X] Point out that if you were here for anything nefarious, you would have dispatched Irene already and you wouldn't waste time saving civilians.

Double post, but this should work out fine I think.

I like this plan. The absolute last thing we need is more problems to deal with.
