It's a total mirror of what is usually shown with Luna and Hermionie. He's just more focused and able to articulate his position than Luna is usually shown.

I'm thinking we go for Portkey first. Yes it requires a bit of preparation in advance, but with some intelligent planning it has potential.

[X] Portus

Plus if they only take a few minutes to make, and are long lasting there is no reason not to carry 20+ on us at all times. Just in case.

Oh, and if we get Waddiwasi it would make an incredibly potent combo.

[X] Apparition (Basic Understanding) – Charm. A spell that allows for teleportation of oneself from one location to another. This spell requires an immense amount of skill and concentration, as a misstep could result in serious injury or even death. It is also heavily regulated, as it requires a license to be able to perform Apparition. But let's be honest, you don't have a British registered wand. You know that you can do whatever you want on your vacations … no one will find out, probably. At this stage you are very loud, and your apparition needs a lot of time for concentration. You can't use this in combat or with another person yet, but you can clearly see the potential. Requires Charms Skill of A- & Constitution 4, DC: 150.

[X] PortusTransfiguration. A Portkey Spell is used to transform an ordinary object into a Portkey, allowing the user to instantly transport to the destined location. The usage of this spell is strictly regulated by the Ministry of Magic due to the potential dangers of unauthorized teleportation. You can use this on other people. There is no range restriction for this spell, but you need a few minutes of preparation time ... but there are a few traps that you could set up with something like this. Who would expect a common object to teleport you away? Requires Transfiguration Skill of A- & Alchemy D+, DC: 150.

Portkey is more immediately pratical, it can be used in combat and for another person.

Considering we started to get projects for CoMC after we actually studied it a little, I can't help but wonder what sort of projects we'd get if we actually tried to study our two worst skills, Muggle Studies and Divination.

I have a funny image of Jacob getting the project 'How does a car work?' and having to figure out the physics and chemical science necessary to get a basic understanding of how it does what it does.

I blame the bad perception of Divination in canon on Trelawney, who is really not a good teacher and only got hired because she had one legitimate prophecy Dumbledore wanted to stay hidden. I think Divination could prove beneficial if we managed to reach the higher parts. It would be a curious study on interactions of things like magic and the future.

Mostly I just refuse to believe Divination's higher levels are closed off to only a select few who happen to be born Seers.

Honestly, we see several times that at the very least dream interpretation can be useful. I'm sure some of the other methods can be too. You are right that Trelawney isn't the best one for it at all.

I wonder what Jacob would think of Muggle science, he'd either hate all the formulas and models and just how rigid a lot of things are compared to magic. But I could also see him admiring the unending search for knowledge as well.

I'm all for studying divination, mostly because I want to see what Rasa will do with it, he's added plenty to the way magic works in this quest, achieveing a sense of whimsy and mystery I think even the original books fall short of and I'd love to see what we'd get.

Besides, maybe he does have an apptitude for it.

We have people voting for what they want in different ways so the voting is split. But unless I've messed up my math it's currently Apparition: 15 votes to Portus: 10 votes

Both options are interesting, with potinal reasech leads regarding space and Hogwarts' magic. Portkey just feels like the less trodden path, fandom wise at least.
Plus, a bit more relevant for next year's plot.

I feel like it will give us more options to strategize. It would be a great way out, if we are not concentrated (us or other that can't apparate). Portkey have a greater reach than apparition. And finally, I want to punch someone with a porkey so he goes bye bye directly into prison, the ocean, a volcano or something.

Ummmm was this Divination because 1995 is a year away. Did you mean November 1981 because Voldemort attacked on Halloween.
I put in random dates as blockers writing in my flow to check against afterwards. This one made it through the check it seems. I fixed it yesterday, thanks for pointing it out.
I really enjoyed the contrasting characterization of Jacob and Percy- and the fact that Percy doesn't come off as an antagonist (which I like and find more interesting). Just a guy whose philosophy is quite a bit off from Jacob's (and the Weasley's).

I read the rolls room and just wanted to say:

Quite thrilling, can't wait to read the entire write-up. Just wanted to note for future that we appear to get an alchemy training of +5 from HARC Perk. That would have made one of our Alchemy training a rolled 100. Not sure if that matters since we didn't make the second roll. Also, I might have missed it but I didn't see the roll for Ancient Runes training from Runes Club Search.
Yes, for sharing your thougts. You actually rolled rather poorly on the interaction with Percy, but I couldn't stomach a cliche conversation with him, so I tried my best in bringing their personalities together.
Yeah, that and the duelling club rolls were forgotten. I'll do them myself when I get to it. We were having too much fun with the rest it seems.

And on the +5: Yeah, you are right. Have overseen that last word in the Perk. I will work on making the boni more clear for myself in a free minute. All the game mechanics are kinda annoying to me, but they are the best way for you guys to interact with the world, so I am doing my best to keep them clean. Again, thanks for pointing it out!
but also sad :(, I missed the rolz thing. it looked and sounded interesting
I hope we can repeat it. Right now I am on vacation and without responsibilities. I will have to see how it will be when I am back doing my actual job. Careerwise the years since I started the Quest were absolutely fantastic - but that also means that I have much less time and much more responsibilities now.

I want to keep at it though, because I have some plans with you guys :) I will share once we reach the end of year three.
yea, I can't find anything about sensing specific spells/ intent, maybe if jacob researches anti charms he'd get a clue about it. And he doesn't know about the mirror so he can't just ask dumbledore about it.
Maybe asking the librarian?
The whole 'asking' thing of Jacob was lost when you guys failed that Lupin roll. This Trait has many advantages, but it is also limiting you guys in things I accept:

I decide what is possible – You do not take kindly to other people telling you what you can or can't achieve. You have proven time and time again, that the only limit you have is deciding how much you truly want something. While you will not go out and brag that you have achieved it, it does feel satisfying to prove someone wrong.

Keep it in mind!
That said, the QM may decide to mix things up here :)

Hmmm. @Tabula Rasa what are the odds we can get a Spanish apparition licence? Standards on when you can have a go at that differ per country IIRC.
Jacob does not understand the question. Why would he ask for permission to do magic?

The people you grew up around were not of the "ask authority for permission" type.
Oh, and if we get Waddiwasi it would make an incredibly potent combo.
Why would you do this to me. I was so looking forward for it to have been my idea in a fight. Now it would me the JayTar-Move :(

Also: We might want to start a punch-counter. For those who reread recently. How often did wizard-and-owner-of-a-wand Jacob punch an enemy until now?

Im just more interested in making this then apporation. Oh yeah did we deep undrrstanding the patronous because the above trait reminded me about proven lupin wrong about learning it. And i dont remember if that was just learning or needing deep understanding.e: looking at character sheet we cant get deep understanding for it so i guess we are good.

I'll admit that I'm eagerly waiting for the scene were we show off Lobo to Lupin.

Feel like we can do Portus later, when we're also a little better in Alchemy. Besides, here's a reason to finally train constitution.
