[X] Take the lead yourself

Honestly, I kind of hope she tries for the backstab and gets Verdigris'd.
Thinking on it, given the situation, she probably uses her mass area attack whether Ambraea is in the way or not, being entirely unaware our patron earth elemental dragon is inbound. I'm having very mixed feelings now. On one hand, Ambraea possibly takes a close range hit from an area sonic attack, on the other Deiza might get eaten. Very tough choice.

I can't help myself. I want to Diamond-Cut Perfection to show up in his dragon form and eat someone. Sue me.
How do you feel about Verdigris biting her before she can treat us like acceptable collateral damage, forcing us to fight chimeras alone until Diamond Cut Perfection can perform a rescue?

First, 4 other exalted besides Ambraea and Deiza are present one of them Ambraea's senior.

Second, pretty good. Ambraea does have sword training and she is extra durable as well as capable of summoning swarms of more bronze snakes to aid her in combat.

Third, Deiza was Verdigris blindsided year two, and whatever insults she has earned, idiot is not among them. She isn't going to try anything within the Snakes striking range.

Look, only one of us is the Empress' daughter, so I should go first. What, that doesn't sound like a good reason to listen to me to you? Do you even know who my mother is?

It's a good plan.

[X] Let Deiza take the lead

I wanna see if what she has in mind will at the very least keep these beasts busy until Diamond Cut Perfection comes in to clean up.

"Most of us notice cold weather a little more than you do, Amiti," L'nessa says. Despite her griping, she's carefully watching the path underfoot; you're getting close to the cliffs, and no one wants to veer off track here.

"Well," Amiti reasons, "if the food turns out to be poisoned, somehow, you'll be able to feel better about it." You give a small huff of amusement at that. You're getting better at telling when she's making a joke on purpose.
I love her.
"Thank you, Amiti!" L'nessa says, all smiles. "I do hope you'll be more careful in the future, Nazri — it would be a shame for such a valued upperclasswoman to be harmed over wanting to take in the morning air."
Solid burn.
"Well-spotted," you tell her. Amiti gives you a tentative sort of smile pas her hand — you're not sure she gets a lot of praise, ordinarily.
Aww. Pls donate to Hugs for Amiti 2022.
"She half-invited herself," Fish says, looking uncomfortable.

"And where did the other half come from then, I wonder?" Deiza asks.
Honestly a pretty valid retort, there.
"You're not going to punch her again, are you?" Amiti's voice is strange in your ear, her muttered aside carried on the breeze to reach you alone, silent to anyone else present. She has her pendant up near her mouth again, her hand blocking her lips from view. "I think it would cause problems if you punched her again."
Amiti analyzing social dynamics is great.
"Well, that's good," Amiti concludes, brightly. She's looking at them a little too intently. "I'd love to have a dead specimen to examine — I'm interested in how the skeleton links up, and I've just learned an excellent spell for cleaning the flesh from bones."
...That is a technically accurate way of describing that spell!
"You are close enough," L'nessa says, definitively. Amiti looks briefly as though she'd prefer to argue this semantic point, but ultimately swallows her objection.
God, what a mood.
But Simendor Deiza is also an Earth Aspect
Honestly, I forgot that. She doesn't exactly vibe like an Earth Aspect.

Wildly unlikely. Even if she was so deeply, profoundly stupid as to think the Empress' daughter is acceptable collateral damage (she isn't; if you frag the Empress' daughter, even if it's the difference between life and death for you, you're just trading dying fast for dying slow, and since Deiza isn't terminally moronic she'd know that), if she actually wanted Ambraea dead or even didn't care she just wouldn't have tried to warn Ambraea about the problem with the chimeras.

I think it's pretty clear that Ambraea's MO of stoic endurance isn't cutting it for drawing out/resolving whatever Deiza's problem is. Ergo, we need to engage in her idiom, and provoke more confrontations. Besides, it is in fact better tactical sense.

So, an angry Peleps is sabotaging Darting Fish's experiment just because he's a V'neef.
I think it's also because the experiment, if successful, would have let Darting Fish build ships that repelled certain kinds of monster attacks, leading to a long term logistical advantage. So still bullshit political infighting, but higher stakes.

House Simendor's elemental leaning isn't made explicit in the material we have for them, and it's possible that they might not even have one, but they have like... Earth trappings and their motto is "Dark Wings Enfolding the Agate Throne." The Agate Throne both refers to their ancestral manse (it's Earth Aspected) and to what seems to be a throne inside it carved from a giant agate geode.

This at first seems like a strange fit for them; they're a house defined by a lot of hedonism and bizarre ritual, but when I thought about it, like... They're very subbornly hanging on to their ancestral practices, which are not only older than the Scarlet Realm, they're older than the Second Age. This is a group of weird sorcerers who is perfectly willing to reinvent themselves superficially (okay, fine, we're a Shogunate gen. Oh, there's a new empire in charge? Fine, we're a cadet house.), but utterly unwilling to meaningfully change themselves for the comfort of outsiders aside from that.

Deiza has a very similar intractable refusal to accomodate going on.

You seem confused. We voted for mysterious dread, a very different kind of silence.
Focus: Battlefield sorcery, earthen defence, tactics, stoic virtue
Stoic virtue was part of the runner up build. We'd probably be having a very different relationship with, well everyone, if it had been picked. At the very least Deiza probably wouldn't call us Prasad on account of how much pride a stone towering toward sky Ambraea would take in the designation.

"We were doing hedonism and fell rituals back before it was cool."

She tries to save us, and fails. We try to save her, and succeed. I think this is a solid foundation for a frenemy situation, since we both now have proof that when the chips come down, we will try and help eachother.

[X] Let Deiza take the lead

I think this gives her some face, and she'll appreciate it from us.

[X] Take the lead yourself

I want them to either argue more or cooperate, either way is better than not interacting with each other.
