Shattered Bindings (Spyro AU)

[X] Plan: Secrets of the Dragon Realm
-[X] The Empire who ruled with an iron claw. (Knowledge of the Fourth Dragon Empire)
-[X] Tales, myths, and legends of the dragon realms. (Knowledge of folklore and legends)
-[X] Your father focused on making sure you had a head start on your element. (Gain five training rolls for Shadow after you unlock your element)
-[X] She made sure you knew how to read people. (Gain five training rolls for Insight)
-[X] They trusted you to take care of yourself as soon as you were capable of doing so. (+character creation)

Tentatively picking these options, though the idea of playing out our childhood tickles me.

Techically speaking, it seems Spyro is a kid in all the games. He was explicitly called out to be 12 years old in Legend and even in classic hes quite smaller then the other adult dragons..

TBF though, we arent being raised by dragonflys so we actually know how to use our element heh

In a slightly unrelated note, and looking over the skills..

Why am I afflicted with the mental image of a dragon playing an oversized tuba as a legitimate skill check?

Because I outright copied DnD and Pathfinder skills? Though instruments are a thing in setting, not big among dragons though some wind dragons do like them.
Heh, was just a bemusing mental image I had overseeing them.

In a more serious matter, wonder how busted our stealth stat will be when we figure out how to hide in shadows with Dusks element.

Well... I'll say right now that several elements have very, very good counters to stealth. There's a reason shadow dragons are not ruling the world. If no one is looking for you, then yeah you can be very stealthy though. So can every other shadow dragon who tries though.

Aye, never said it would be easy but its an interesting thing to look into.

That, and i figure a question. Would Shadow Dragons have differing bonuses per stage of the moon? [Like more powerful during a full moon vs a new moon]... does say they can draw power from it.

Drawing power from the moon is something the more skilled ones can do. It's also the kind of thing you have to train to be able to do.

I was not getting alerts for some reason. but I wanted to ask about omakes and stuff while the update is being worked on.

Myself, have been kicking around the idea of an omake with Dusk 's first time figuring out shadow ability.

Imagine the sight of a dragon-kid playing hide and seek like that would be worth a few chuckles.

Education
Unlike many young whelps, your parents were often away for days or even weeks at a time. They taught you what they could and relied heavily on the local learning center to fill in the blanks. The center focused on teaching general knowledge such as the many distinct races of the realms, history, and the basics of the elements alongside useful life skills. The Fourth Dragon Empire was a popular topic and one the instructors covered at length. When your parents found out that the center seemed to neglect some things, they mumbled something about 'propaganda' and made sure to fill in the blanks.

Gained knowledge of the Fourth Dragon Empire (balanced)

Far more important according to your mother was the 'life skills' as she called them. You were not entirely sure what she meant and whenever she found the time, she would supplement the center's lessons with her own. Instead of things like hunting, reading, and writing, your mother made sure you could tell when someone was lying. It was a skill that she said was invaluable throughout her life and something she wished she had learned at a far younger age. It soon became quite easy to tell when the other whelps were lying or trying to trick you, though the instructors had you stumped.

Gained general knowledge
Gained 61+35+44+53+63=276 progress to Insight.

There were many whelps at the center and all of them were different. What described you the best?

Choose Two
[] Studious - You loved learning new things and always paid attention when someone was trying to teach you something.
[] Hardworking - You always strived to do your best, putting in the extra time to make sure you understood.
[] Loyal - Friends stuck together, no matter what.
[] Patient - Where others would have long since given up, you always stuck with it no matter how long it took.
[] Cunning - You always knew how to come out ahead, no matter the situation.
[] Resourceful - Making the most out of what little you had came naturally to you.
[] Driven - When you set your mind to something, you would see it done. Period.
[] Brave - You were always the first one to try something new.
[] Helpful - Helping people is just what you do.
[] Write-In - What describes you the best?

At the center, you had ample opportunity to get to know others your age. Who did you end up befriending?

Choose up to Two
[] Blitz - An Electric dragon who never sat still and was always full of energy.
[] Ashe - A Fire dragoness who was laid back and rather shy, often fading into the background.
[] Spyte - A Fear dragoness who would often stare at something only she could see.
[] Percipas - A Water dragon who proudly proclaimed that he was going to join Malefor's army the moment he was old enough.
[] Farad - An Electric Dragon who seemed laser focused on whatever had his attention at the time.
[] Glacis - An Ice Dragoness who was always prim and proper, often wishing that she had been born a noble.
[] Hydran - A Water Dragon who talks about how he was going to explore the very depths of the oceans.
[] Yask - A male Daith who was always getting into fights and often managed to hold his own against the larger dragons.
[] Dusktail - A female Dweller who entertained herself by playing pranks and sneaking around to cause trouble.
[] Nobody - You had no time for friends!

Your father often dismissed a lot of what the center taught and instead said that the most important thing a dragon could learn was their element. Whenever he had time between his trips into the catacombs, he would sit with you and tell you all the little tricks and tips that he found useful with Shadow. From him you learned that Shadow responded the best with a more deceitful or perhaps sly mindset. Shadow dragons seemed to get further with their element when they were cautious, patient, sly, watchful, or similar. The best shadow dragons were often paranoid, untrustworthy, and reclusive, though it was easily possible to not fall into such mindsets if you were careful.

Gained 68+26+24+19+63=210 progress to Shadow (LOCKED).

Hmm.. personality quirks.. Not sure what effects they may have down the line.. maybe initial perks? Throwing this up for initial plan
@Nianque will we get a bit of lore-post on what we learned?
[] Forging Bonds
-[]Personality
--[] Brave - You were always the first one to try something new.
--[] Resourceful - Making the most out of what little you had came naturally to you.
-[]Friends
--[]Ashe - A Fire dragoness who was laid back and rather shy, often fading into the background.
--[] Hydran - A Water Dragon who talks about how he was going to explore the very depths of the oceans.

For right now, think this fits as Dusk already has bit of a head start on his element and working knowledge of the ruins [gotta be brave to delve into it heh]

With Hydran, well I assume flight will be a natural thing to be taught.. but who better to swimming lessons from then a water dragon?

Tempted to take the following for a push to delve into the secrets of the world.

Working on a post detailing what you know about the empire. Until then, have a picture of what Abyss and I think Dusk looks like.

Credit to the artist of course.
