fairness, I think most Pokemon are, by nature, much more 'fighters' than most humans or even real animals are. A certain amount of use of force is just part of how you make yourself heard, which helps to compensate for the fact that, as a Pokemon, your spoken language consists of about four syllables. :p

Makes sense. After all, how does a Pokemon become stronger, faster, and generally better able to survive? It gains XP, it fights. Of course they'd want to do that. Pokemon Battling is largely a way for Pokemon to work off their natural impluse towards violence in a controlled setting. As I once heard it put, "Pokemon is a world where every animal is a blood knight, and the way we tamed them is by introducing them to pro-wrestling".

Honestly this one makes the most sense to me. Getting shoved unceremoniously into a small ball and forced to cooperate with someone who just beat you up sounds awful.

I'm all about those idealogical differences for story drama. A true believer of the power of pokefriendship and a Don't tread on me!-pokerevolutionary going at it sounds great to me.
