HOLY SHIT I JUST REMEMBERED, those Eldar chumps, the ones we fucked up with sanguinius, they owe us a Solid for not blowing up their craftworld, sounds like we could call in that debt to hunt down the myriad warbands of the bastard 8th.
They doesn't even need to help but just take credit for the thing. If we go after the bastard.

Can't wait for Angron to return to Kharn have this conversation:

"Kharn, I decided I will be more involved in the life of our Legion and will become the leader I should have been all along. First order of business is to transport a small disctrict worth of people to another planet. The second, is to kill Konrad Curze."

- [X] Try to persuade Corax to change course (optional write-in)
Kurze should be put on trial, it will be no great loss if he dies but losing the option to investigate what the nostramo just happened may harm us in the long run.

I'm normally(read as 9 times out of ten) against killing people however in this one case, I'm less against this man's death than I am the method proposed to do so.

Given the sort of warfare this would involve, what do the Chainbreakers bring to the table? Their specialities are in assault, and the Raven Guard already have stealth stuff down. I could have imagined maybe Magnus for his wizards, but not necessarily just an assault formation.

-[X] You need to attack the Night Lords during their most vulnerable point, with overwhelming force. Perhaps try to catch them midway through a planetary assault, when their forces are in disarray, or be waiting for them in secret on a world they are planning to attack.

Cornered, they'll fight like rats. Assaulted, they'll scatter, also like rats. The ideal would be to pick them off slowly and gradually and attrite them down, but that's simply not possible. Assaulting them mid drop, or ambushing them, seems like a more pracical method, if difficult to pull off. Maybe Corax waits on the ground, and Angron does the assualt on ships in orbit.

A number of failure points, of course, but that just makes for a more interesting story.

I don't really enjoy voting against the tide, but I really dislike the idea of approaching Malcador of all people for this. Maybe if we'd spoken with him last update instead of Magnus, but we didn't, so there's no real foundation there. There's no reason to think he would even agree that Curze would need to be dealt with - he's the right hand of the Emperor, and whatever rift may have formed between them during the council was due to his inability to keep control of the situation, not because his goals diverged from big E's. The Emperor saw fit to let this fester and rot, as Corax says - is there anything about Malcador that indicates he thinks the Emperor is wrong in doing so? He'd indebt Angron and Corax, sure, but is that worth killing one of the Emperor's other sons, behind his back, to him? Not to mention that even if he agrees on the face there's no guarantee that he wouldn't just be setting the two of them up for something else. Angron may have decided to think in terms of opportunities and costs, but the potential costs inherent to trusting Malcador on this heavily outweigh the opportunities - mostly because there's someone similar nearby that, while also not really trustworthy, is probably in an excellent position to fuck up Curze.

Alpharius is a sneaky, dastardly, pernicious little man, and he's been worming his way into other legions like they're underripe apples. Considering that part of the problem is that we don't want Curze's marines scattering to the seven seas once we kill him, and neither Angron nor Corax are particularly good at subtlety, I think he's Angron's best bet of making that not happen. As an added benefit, we also didn't work directly contrary to his goals a day ago and get him essentially rebuked by the Emperor. He might be a little twerp but he has no particular enmity against Angron nor the reverse, and that puts him up a decent number of steps. Giving Alpharius a chance to show off will have consequences, sure, but if you go at a primarch you best not miss. As for the other brothers...

Dorn, I think, would definitely be down to kill Curze for what he's done, but I don't know if his way of doing so would be compatible with Angron and Corax's needs. Might end up being similar to worries people have about Horus where there'd be too much official cruft to get a proper surprise attack in, not sure. Personally I'm not against involving either of them, but not really interested in trying to sell the idea either.

Guilliman would definitely try to do things by the book so he's out - Lorgar and Magnus both just got slapped by daddy so even if they would be down and actually helpful Angron really shouldn't involve them if he values their wellbeing. Vulkan could be helpful, but I mean...he just told Angron all about his deal so even if he comes with don't count on full support from his legion. Khan I think is a good ask. As for Fulgrim and Sanguinus...I doubt Sanguinus wants to stand out doing something like this regardless of his personal feelings. Fulgrim...maybe? But I don't like Fulgrim so I'm not voting for it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As far as tactics go, Angron really is best at just murdering people, so where the needs for subtlety arise I think we should lean on Alpharius.

(Also anyone who votes No has my eternal spite for not taking the opportunity to kill Curze off and spare me from confusing him and Corax constantly)

That scene with Magnus was nice, a pretty humanizing moment. Did not expect the suddenly Alpharius but the way that turned out is VERY amusing. I'm sure it'll be fine.

But who to bring on board for Corax's request... Absolutely, Curze and his Legion need to go, but these are some interesting options being prompted.

I want to note, I'm not sure why there are particular concerns about Horus's reaction while being on board with the attack, when Corax's proposal is already built on the premise that the official channels (including the Warmaster) aren't willing to do anything about the Night Haunters and their Primarch. If you're worried about Horus taking it poorly then "No" would be the better vote.

I'm also a little confused why the Vulkan vote, practicalites of bringing the Salamanders as a whole aside, includes "drag Curze to judgement in Terra"? He isn't Rogal, I don't feel like this is a point he'd find that pressing when Corax is in this explicitly to kill the man, and it would make a rousing heroic story regardless.

Now, that said.

Extra thoughts: I don't think Angron would necessarily be more inclined to try to ask Malcador for help than he would Alpharius, and there's been solid reasoning given for why the Sigilite would be helpful, but it's also compelling because it's such an unexpected option. Leaning on the new complicity with Alpharius and getting his expertise on shady action is probably just as well (with different complications).

It would be extremely funny to get BOTH Alpharius and Malcador on board and watch the former try to play this to get favors from the latter, though.

I think we should bring in other primarchs and have a trial. Going off and killing somone is wrong. Going off to arrest somebody so they can face and trial and than be executed is called Justice. But really I think going off with just two legions is a bad idea. Let's get Horus to issue a arrest warrant than we can go about finding what is going on.
There is no true justice and there are no fair trials in the Imperium. And Malcador helped make it that way.

Kill Curze and if anyone on Terra bitches, tell them to establish an independent judiciary and enforce the rule of law, or fuck off and accept that you're free to do whatever the fuck you can get away with.
