Overlord: Genesis

Your grandfather was quite the rake.
That sounds really petty. Like, I would understand if he slept with his mom or close aunt or something but grandmother? Did it destroy his families standing or something? And why didn't his father do anything to Edmunds parents in that case? It sounds too distant an event for him to care honestly. Sorry if I sound aggressive it's just me nitpicking. Something something fiction must make sense unlike reality.

It's a noble they always look for a way to squish the little guy so we gotta find a way to turn him into paste.

Well, it's the only real reason that you know of for why he's such an asshole. Before your parents vanished he and his wife apparently just bit their tongues and pasted on smiles.

Who wants to bet that they were afraid of them and when his parents disappeared they decided to take out all the yers of, from their perspective, humiliation. Or Edmunds parents had dirt on them but the outcome is the same.

Here's the votes as they stand. Going to let the timer run out on this, but given that a lot of the choices are the same across all three plans, might be doing rolls too.

Well... for a bit more context and background in regards to your grandfather and parents:

Your Grandfather was actually a Duke and fairly popular with the peasantry from what your father told you, generally considered a good ruler of his duchy. But success breeds jealously, and the way he tended to end up warming the beds of his rival's wives while said rivals were away only made it worse.

Your family was stripped of the lands of Heaven's Peak, and forced to the Barony of Spree in the Mellow Hills.

The Declaration was enforced by the Kingdom of Light, which nominally held power over that area. Your father didn't know what kind of leverage or political capitol your grandfather burned to keep from being just banished. Your mother never really saw fit to go into it.

Whether it was signed personally by the King at the time is a different story. Your father always seemed to think that it was done by political enemies that wanted the family's land and resources. Possibly members of the Church.
Your grandfather had no male heirs, and decided to find someone he felt was worthy of actually taking up the name. Given the influence this would have on his daughter, she was brought in to the whole process. Your father was one of many looking to gain her hand, but he was one of only a few that was interested more in the woman rather than the rich lands attached to her name.

Before he married your mother, Dad was a Nordbergian mercenary. He and your "uncle" Reggie had come west after a series of misadventures out to the east in The Republic. While your father married your mother and became Lord Gromgard (he claimed that his own family name wasn't really worth much anyway so it was a definite trade up) Reggie set up the Happy Mule and eventually got enough connections and custom that he was elected mayor by the townfolk of Spree. Not that the Baron or Baroness really give a damn about the peasantry or who speaks for them.

so unlike most villains our family is actually somewhat functional which is great. I mean it's better our grandfather be a chronic adulterer with women in his age range than him being cruel or god forbid abusive to his family

Basically, yeah. Dad was a warrior, your mom was a scholar because your grandfather recognized that whomever ended up marrying your mother may not have all of the knowledge needed to run an estate properly, or know etiquette, or a hundred different other things. And both of them loved you fiercely. They'd left on a short excursion to the Kingdom of Light to finalize some kind of deal, and that was the last anyone ever saw of them. Your grandfather had died a few years before of old age, and once it became clear that you were now on your own, the Baron and Baroness began their campaign to ruin you through as close to legal methods as possible. Unfortunately the Baron is the one with the power to set local taxes, so the taxation he's been hitting you with has technically been legal.

I'm betting the Baron did something to them and then covered it up.

Then let's try and add his skull to our future skull throne to avenge our parents. Also how high is our parent's stats considering how skilled we are in everything. I'm honestly expecting our father to have a martial stat of 30
Your dad was considered a Master of the Greataxe. Capital "M" intended. Your mother was scarily intelligent and enjoyed stumping you and your father with riddles and brain teasers, though she would also help you both work through them.
i am expecting our father to have been the equivalent of Conan the barbarian, just more housebroken.
Somewhat. To be fair though he also had Reggie with him. And that man is no slouch from what your father said. If you're familiar with David and Leah Eddings' works, think Barak and Kheldar. If you aren't; go read the Belgariad and Mallorean book series, along with Belgarath the Sorceror and Polgara the Sorceress. Altogether the 12 books form a complete closed cycle of narrative. The very last one ending where the first one began.
