A Beautiful World 1: Waking up Well
You moved a little, trying your best not to disturb your partner as you took a deep breath. Despite your body's biological urge telling you that, yes indeed, you wanted to continue where you and Raven left off last night, preferably with far more energy, and perhaps you taking the lead this time, you knew that was not going to end well.
But you did not want to continue without her wanting to continue, and there was something far more special that you wanted to do for her. Repayment for her allowing you to stay with her. And to be a gentleman.
Your tail swayed as you quickly and stealthily moved away, as you looked back in the dark and moved towards the bathroom and looked at yourself in the mirror. The black hair dye was something that you didn't really mean to do, but after the first of your… targets took a picture, you could not be so certain that it did not reach his comrades.
Even after you bribed the US and International postage workers to intercept and read any letter that was in the mail, and gives you names. Lots of names.
Sure the US government was not happy that a german billionaire was running around on a nazi hunting spree and breaking all sorts of international laws in the process.
But you reminded them all, in congress, in the Senate, even in the White House, that you could, if you wished, cut off the money, that you lobbied them for.
Oh how they squirmed, one of the richest men in the world holding them hostage, and even if they wanted to declare you a criminal, the fact that German Intelligence can cover for you, and Mossad owed you numerous favors… was just icing on a brilliant cake.
Your tail swayed as you found some pants and put them on, and quietly moved through the empty house, towards her kitchen.
Raven was really well stocked, and her acting career had turned her into the most sought-after Actress of all time. She, quite funnily to you, morphed into any role that was given her way, stealing the spotlight with almost effortless charisma and charm.
She always told you that there was something funny, coming up with random excuses that allowed her to, effortlessly, change her appearances, and no one chalked it up to a mutation, just a sheer dedication to the craft.
Though she confessed that it was getting rather boring. Being an actress. Charisma and skill only carried her so far, and she was really wishing to, in her words. "Shock the world"
She had been pitching to everyone who would listen to her, about a female secret agent, named, of course, Raven, gallivanting off on adventures against anyone, soviets, Americans, Chinese, anyone. A freelancing special agent that owed no loyalty to the flag, country, or ideology, just coin, and doing what was morally right.
Of course, the studio heads of Hollywood hated the idea, not because it did not have merit, but because, as always, they did not think Raven was capable of creating such a character or even putting in the work to play it to her specifications, which was flexible, strong, witty and intelligent.
Such a thing was, in the eyes of the heads, out of the question. And there was no money in spy fiction.
You scoffed as you began to make breakfast. She would enjoy a more traditional meal, pancakes, eggs, bacon, and maybe some bananas.
Having three limbs was such a treat, as you could do more, with less clutter.
------------------------------------------------------------
When Raven came, she was in her natural state, her blue skin a deep blueberry, and her orange hair back behind her ears, a wet mess. You could smell that she had cleaned herself up from the shampoo and the soap.
"Morning." She whispered as she stalked closer to you, her skin becoming a cream color and her hair becoming blonde, and underwear appeared, to give the display, to anyone who was potentially watching, to avoid any… tabloid journalists. But you knew she was tired, and you could see on her face that she wanted to talk about last night. "Heinrich."
But you didn't want to. "Pancakes are ready, we have eggs, the bacon is fresh, and the milk is-"
She was not happy with you ignoring her. "You were screaming last night again."
That made you look away as you walked over to her. A moment passed before you held her hands and you shook your head. "They won't stop."
"Have you gone to a therapist?" She asked. "A doctor, Charles?"
You looked away, letting go and sitting down, looking at the food. "They are getting worse, you know that. This time I could see my parents. The gold. The men who took me, my dead siblings? But I had made peace with all that years ago. I accepted that it was done. But why do they keep haunting me?"
Raven nodded. "Because you decided to reopen old wounds. You almost died against that SS officer, he stabbed you in the chest, he-" She sat down and held your hand. "Told you that your parents were still alive."
They were still alive, and they disappeared like the rats they were. Your parents worked for the Nazis, and then just… ran away, continuing to work for them, even though they were Jew. Even though they never would have.
It made you sick to think that they would even continue after such horror, sell their own children. For the longest time, you thought they would be burning in the depths of hell, and suffering for all they had done to you.
To know that they were alive, it just filled you with rage. Rage that you had, for the longest time, thought was gone, replaced by your need to help those in need.
To look towards the future.
But instead, it seemed the past was strangling you until you finally buried it.
You frowned. "I don't want to leave."
"Then don't." She said as she placed her head on your shoulder. "You don't have to leave. You don't have to do anything."
She wanted you so hard to believe those words. But you knew she could not stop you.
You wanted to say something… but- "Raven-"
There was a knock at the door, and you stood up to answer it.
When you answered the door, who was waiting for you?:
[]Erik: He was a bit worse for wear, but you knew he was quite… agitated. "I finally found you, We need to talk about your Company!"
[]Fury: He smiled as he strode in. "Sorry to bother you both on this fine morning, but I've been told by my superiors that we need you, right now, in Washington."
[]Charles: He was terrified. "Thank God… Heinrich, I found it. The Mutation that is in us, I found it, and people are trying to kill me because of it."
[]Your Parents: The shotgun could kill you. "Hello my son, nice place, you really think you could have been looking for us with a more… secret hideout?" The pump made Raven sit still. "Can we come in, I want to see the Blue Whore's true form."
AN: enjoy.
