I'am glad we went to Aina.
Although, safety of Inge & Esha is questionable at current moment. :(

Death knell is a bitch to deal with though

I say that Tom should Bull Rush the Vulnadaemon away from Nico, while george uses a healing potion on him

Not a surprise that more Daemons would show up, but damn if I was hoping they wouldn't.

We have to hit the Vulnadaemon hard and fast, both to kill it as quickly as possible, but also to get its attention off Nico before it decides to use Death Knell on him. We also need to pressure it too much for it to be able to use its Invisibility SLA.

[X] Fight the daemons with only George and James' help
-[X] Roland uses Encouraging Roar as a Swift Action (+2 Morale bonus to attack and damage rolls for himself and allies within 30ft for 1 round) and Charges the Vulnadaemon (+2 attack bonus), Power Attacking it (+11; 1d8+9 damage; Critical: 17-20/x2). In the following round, he uses Challenge against the Vulnadaemon as a Swift Action (+4 damage on following attacks).

Should we order the others around? Tom should Bull Rush the Vulnadaemon away from Nico
Tom isn't in the room with us, and I'm not sure if trying to direct James and George would be helpful. One is an archer and the other a net wielder, and there are Cacodaemons loose. I figure they'll either attack them or the Vulnadaemon, as the situation dictates.

[X] Goldfish

I am curious why is it such bedlam during war time: Felowship and mages do not sleep in the neighboring rooms with Aina, Roland did not acquire any kind of not-cursed armor (I suppose that Marcella holds something), Esha do not use Soulrider on Roland – and they are only obvious measures I thought about. Noromo is not pacified yet, and we left specifically to guard Aina. Roland and co knew that assassin fled, and Obari was nowhere to be seen, they have every reason to be cautious.

As Roland's internal monologue showed, the current accommodations aren't exactly top notch. They were probably already fairly crowded and relatively near one another.

As for armor, any armor Roland might have found to use for now would have still taken some time to put on properly, so him choosing to forego it makes sense in this situation, though the lack of AC is worrisome.

IIRC, Esha can only keep Soul Rider on Roland while she is conscious. When she sleeps, it's effect fades and needs to be reapplied after waking up.

"The soulrider attaches to the target of the spell and buries itself in the target's subconscious mind, persisting there as long as the arcanist maintains at least 1 point in his arcane reservoir, until the arcanist dismisses the soulrider (this requires a standard action), or until the arcanist successfully infects another creature with a soulrider."
Maybe DragonParadox clarified it further, but in the description there is nothing about concious of arcanist. I remeber only about intimacy of Soulrider, and that Esha refuses to use it on non-acquainted (and even on non-close friends) for lengthy periods of time.

If it does persist through sleep, Esha may have already tried to use the Sending effect while Roland was asleep. If so, he probably just missed the message.

She did not use Soulrider:

As he was just sleeping with no indication that he was going into battle no they are not in contact.

That's why I am surprised why they decided that there were "no indication that he was going into battle" when we specifically left to guard Aina from supposed attack.

While Soul rider does persist at all times Roland and Esha do not keep it up that often in low risk situations, as it is a rather intimate connection. Basically if you were on the night before battle you would be in contact, but you had no reason to expect assassins tonight.

But we had every reason to expect it:
"[] Stay with Aina, she will need all the protection she can get until the lords have assembled and the city was made safe "

Different levels of preparedness, yes you are here to guard her, but that does not mean you are so jumpy that you would keep a soul bond up day and night. This is of course something that might change now that you were actually caught by surprise.
