Tom is currently trying to protect Aina in another room.Should we order the others around? Tom should Bull Rush the Vulnadaemon away from Nico
"Back! Back you wretches!" you hear Tom shout though the door on the far side of the chamber and a moment later Aina's voice, high though whether with pain or simply with fear you do not know for certain.
Tom isn't in the room with us, and I'm not sure if trying to direct James and George would be helpful. One is an archer and the other a net wielder, and there are Cacodaemons loose. I figure they'll either attack them or the Vulnadaemon, as the situation dictates.Should we order the others around? Tom should Bull Rush the Vulnadaemon away from Nico
As Roland's internal monologue showed, the current accommodations aren't exactly top notch. They were probably already fairly crowded and relatively near one another.[X] Goldfish
I am curious why is it such bedlam during war time: Felowship and mages do not sleep in the neighboring rooms with Aina, Roland did not acquire any kind of not-cursed armor (I suppose that Marcella holds something), Esha do not use Soulrider on Roland – and they are only obvious measures I thought about. Noromo is not pacified yet, and we left specifically to guard Aina. Roland and co knew that assassin fled, and Obari was nowhere to be seen, they have every reason to be cautious.
@DragonParadox , if it is Hugh the Elder, then why is he a "boy", and if it is Hugh the Younger, why does he have spear and shield?Crouched under a table you spot Hugh, his spear and shield scattered hither and yon. There is a dark stain on his stomach, but it is not the wound that concerns you most. The boy is white as a sheet and babbling nonsense

"The soulrider attaches to the target of the spell and buries itself in the target's subconscious mind, persisting there as long as the arcanist maintains at least 1 point in his arcane reservoir, until the arcanist dismisses the soulrider (this requires a standard action), or until the arcanist successfully infects another creature with a soulrider."IIRC, Esha can only keep Soul Rider on Roland while she is conscious.
If it does persist through sleep, Esha may have already tried to use the Sending effect while Roland was asleep. If so, he probably just missed the message."The soulrider attaches to the target of the spell and buries itself in the target's subconscious mind, persisting there as long as the arcanist maintains at least 1 point in his arcane reservoir, until the arcanist dismisses the soulrider (this requires a standard action), or until the arcanist successfully infects another creature with a soulrider."
Maybe DragonParadox clarified it further, but in the description there is nothing about concious of arcanist. I remeber only about intimacy of Soulrider, and that Esha refuses to use it on non-acquainted (and even on non-close friends) for lengthy periods of time.
Imagine waking up and your soul tells you that you have missed messages. If it does persist through sleep, Esha may have already tried to use the Sending effect while Roland was asleep. If so, he probably just missed the message.
She did not use Soulrider:If it does persist through sleep, Esha may have already tried to use the Sending effect while Roland was asleep.
As he was just sleeping with no indication that he was going into battle no they are not in contact.

But we had every reason to expect it:
