Chapter 7.1: The Battle of Rome (Preparations)
Where our Hero Fights, as he prepares for war.
Rome was a beautiful place in the distance, even as you saw the fires rise in the distance, the camps of the soldiers of the Borgia's Army.
There was a great deal of mistrust among the gathered army of mercenaries, soldiers, and volunteers that joined on the road, hastily assembled militia's and Papal guardsmen came slowly out of hiding before soon your numbers were about equal to the sieging men, an army of 8 thousand.
But Severin smiled as he looked out at the gathered forces at the wall, and he shouted. "Well then, it seems that the man cannot prepare soldiers, he instead gathers people who do not want to die for him! Or are too scared to realize that they do not need to follow the great power of a usurper!"
Charles for his part did not seem to be convinced at the odds being in the favor of the army, despite swelling in size since the meeting with Cosmo weeks ago. "Fear or not, they will fight you, and those cannon look sighted well."
Severin did not seem worried, as he looked to Charles with his face morphing into a frown at the pessimism that was on display. "I have a plan that will not make us face them. The spy we sent said they were not prepared for a long siege, and if there was ever a time to prepare for a sally, it will be when they are not prepared for a siege."
The word that Ezio was still alive made you feel well, as you realized that the other florentine was both still alive, making a great deal safer for the siege for Severin and the men. "I'm surprised that so many people are willing to follow you, captain?" You stated. "Most of these men look like they would rather be under themselves, the Prince or others?"
Severin laughed. "Well I'm sure they would, but they know that I have a plan in smashing Borgia in his bloody robes and return the Holy Father back to his rightful place with Saint Peter, and free from bondage. That is a worthy goal for all good Christians
You frowned. "And the fact they follow your orders?"
"I'm sure they do not wish to die," Severin replied. "And listening to me means there is less of a chance of them to die." The truth in his statement was something that was both adamant, and something of self-aggrandizing. But he had every right to do so, seeing as he smashed the French less than two years ago.
You frowned. "Are my guns with your best riflemen?"
"Yes, and your demonstration will be good enough for them to be prepared to use them under fire," Severin replied. "I have the utmost faith in your craftsmanship."
You frowned. "I hate that you do not test them earlier, and only once."
"Once is all my men needed." He replied.
"But-"
You looked at Severin as he rode away. Goddammit. You invented the guns, why would no one listen to you and change them.

Severin's Predictions: 51
Severin was right. They were going to be predictable and meet the army in the field where they were prepared to die for Borgia.
Where are you in the battle?:
[]The Vanguard: Those idiots do not know how to shoot, and you do, so you damn well will join them and smash their attack (The Most dangerous option, but one where you will be able to affect the battle the most with your marksmanship, and your ability to repair any gun with limited tools)
[]The Cannons: There were only ten cannons here, and that would have to do, seeing as the walls will be out of range, and you will be forced to target infantry formations (Your engineering skills and your ability to do math will make you well suited. You will be in danger.)
[]In the Rear: you will not take part in the battle, you are a child for christ's sake! (You will not take part in the battle, but you will not be able to affect it)
An: Enjoy.
