Gods of Chaos: a Riot God Quest

Really? Didn't know that the Fingerkings were directly taken from some other source. You learn new things everyday I guess.
Yeah. Here's their wiki page.

it said that they can terraform worlds for other lifeforms to be capable of living there, but at the end of their lives they turn the worlds into barren wastelands? I tried reading it several times and was very confused.
Maybe the description was overly flowery. Basically, the idea is that they go overboard on the terraforming, to the point where even though the world is full to the brim with life, it's like 'the amazon rainforest^3'.

So the terraformed worlds are nearly just as hostile as if they were completely barren as they originally were before being terraformed by the Lineals, but rather than because those worlds can't support life instead it's now because they support life far too well, since it ends up that all the life there is adapted to be so hardcore that you have to be a high end adventurer before you can survive the random encounters. Or at least, you need to be really prepared for the trip, or you might get eaten alive by Super Leeches or catch Super Malaria, or some other horrible fate that can happen to you in the untamed Super Jungle.

Does that make sense? I was being poetic in the actual verbiage, so I'm sorry if it wasn't clear.

Wait, does my authored act count towards my grand act limit? Because I'm only supporting three grand acts.
Yes, Authored Acts count against the limit.

Current Top 15:

1.) Law of Unseen Influence (Grand Req. 8+) - 14 Votes +3 Invalid Vote +Epoch
2.) Create the Seared Spear (Lesser Req. 3+) - 16 Votes
3.) Expand the Functions of the of the World Tree(Grand Req. 8+) - 4(Grand) Votes +8(Cosmic) Votes +2 Invalid Vote +Epoch
4.) Create the Law of Metamorphosis (Grand Req. 8+) - 9 Votes +3 Invalid Vote
5.) The Mirror Springs Phase 2 (Lesser Req. 3+) - 12 Votes +Epoch
6.) Create Ünnarae, the great collector ad creator (Lesser Req. 3+) 11 Votes
7.) Create the Master Dungeon Sigil and the Inspired Ones (Lesser Req. 3+) - 10 Votes
8.) Create the Machine Race: The Me'vel who reside upon the Second Planet (Grand Req. 8+) - 8 Votes +1 Invalid Vote
9.) Create the Two Headed Sphinx (Lesser Req. 3+) - 10 Votes
10.) Create the Elemental Forces (Cosmic) - 10 Votes
-11.)- Create the Fingerkings (Lesser Req. 3+) - 9 Votes +Epoch - NOT PASSING - QM VETO
11.) The Tenders (Lesser Req. 3+) - 8 Votes +Epoch
12.) Create the Lineals and give them to the Cultivars, to use appropriately and with caution. (Grand Req. 8+) - 9 Votes +1 Invalid Vote
13.) Create the Tournament of Life and Death. (Lesser Req. 3+) - 7 Votes +Epoch
14.) Create Avorrite crystals on Avoroth (Lesser Req. 3+) - 7 Votes
-15.)- Create pollinating insects, e.g. Bees (Lesser Req. 3+) - 4 Votes
-15.)- Create the Dream Eaters of the Unseen (Lesser Req. 3+) - 3 Votes +Epoch

Notably, I can't tell you if World Tree is even winning or not because I don't know if Cosmic Acts also count as Grand Acts in this case. If just one of the invalid votes are resolved or some vote shuffling happens, it can surely pass as a Cosmic act. Pollinating Insects are also already passing, so that's good.

Edit: Added Avorrite because it was missed originally. Of note, pollinating insects dropped down a spot and actually needs one more vote to pass now since the other 15th position is tied, due to the Epoch bonus.

I don't know how to feel about all the trading "vote for vote" that is going on right now.

Feels less like trying to create a world and more like making absolutely sure that the act you created passes.

yeah, I think similar.

for my part I am going to experiment with whether it is possible to create beings from the belief and collective will

Teaching existing magic or ordinary knowledge to mortals is a demi act for an individual, or a lesser act for a group.

Also, vote trading might thematically be the Makers making deals amongst themselves
Yeah, pretty much we stand at the pinnacle of all that is and isn't. With creation itself being nothing more than a shared canvas, the only thing that limits a maker's ability to act is the opinion of their peer which could be gained with concession and compromise.

Also vote trading might thematically be the Makers making deals amongst themselves

Yeah I get that it might thematically fit, but it feels really wrong to me. This is a world-building quest, ideally only acts that receive a certain amount of support will get in because people would like them to get in. Especially acts like cosmic and grand acts which would have huge ripple effects across the quest. Trading vote for vote makes it so that a vote that is unpopular could easily get in with enough jockeying. I'd much rather people argued for the positives of their acts rather than trading votes. Trading votes doesn't reward creativity, or require really anything out of a maker, all you have to say is I'll vote for your act if you vote for mine and you'll probably get more votes than you would have before. Makers don't have to like or think that the other persons act would be good for the world we created to give you their vote, they could just want their own vote to pass. It also pushes out other acts that may have received more organic support but didn't make any deals.

Yeah, pretty much we stand at the pinnacle of all that is and isn't. With creation itself being nothing more than a shared canvas, the only thing that limits a maker's ability to act is the opinion of their peer which could be gained with concession and compromise.
The thing is that there's no "concession and compromise" happening here. Nothing about the acts are being changed, no feedback is being taken. All people are doing is saying, hey vote for my vote and I'll vote for yours. The opinion of the other makers is not being changed about the acts they're voting for, if they liked the act they probably wouldn't need to trade votes to vote for it. They're doing it for their own benefit.

Personally I really dislike all the vote trading that is happening this time around. It's a low effort way to guarantee someone's act passing and goes against the spirit of the quest in my opinion. We're here to collaboratively create a world and apart of that is being good faith with your votes.

[X] The Wreath of Sight (Lesser Act)
A thing of brambles and straw, placed somewhere within the Shifting City, unchanging eyes grow around it.

Those who have held it, may see through these eyes, and command its growth.

Those who wear it, may open the eyes, and make the Unseen Seen for as long as their will holds, growing more cumbersome as when more eyes open, as they open for longer.

It lacks a will of its own, though fate ensures it'll be in the hands of someone who will See.
Anything I should alter for this act to get support? The wreath's an added flavor to the city's current mix, and would likely increase its relevance with the wreath's innate properties and the Unseen law passing this epoch.

[X] Create the martial art Whip of Flesh (Lesser Act)
- the user dislocates all bones in their appendage and using only incredible muscle control and the might of Vigor whips the target. It has been known that some users add blades and hooks along their body where they can sop as to cause even more damage
-Incredibly painful to learn
-Works better the longer and less rigid the appendage is
- Inscribed upon a tree in the Lost Swamp

(Saw that we didn't have anything relating to martial arts other than vigor)

Well, I was planning for full-on vigor base wuxia martial art for quite a while. In fact, vigor was designed to function as Ki when I first make it. But since op didn't know about Wuxia or Xianxia a lot of my original intention was lost in translation so to speak. When I get the chance I plan to make some proper martial art and way to use vigor.

I already have a few discipline plan out using inspiration from a ton of stuff like nen technique from hunter X hunter, Ki martial art from gosu the master, Dragon ball energy blast and flight, fist of the north star pressure point, truly skillful techniques like in Kenichi and god of highschool...etc. But I haven't got around to making them yet because there are still a few ideas I want to put in first before doing it plus I already teach the suras fundamentals and was hoping that they would develop something on their own but so far nothing happened on that front yet but if nothing happens in the next few turn then I would write the act.

Okay, suggestion for our pretty poor variety of animals without copypasting from Earth.
They will evolve into new different animals.

Authored act:
[X] Create ancestor species of some non-existent clades of animals. They will be accommodated in environment where they will thrive, both in First and Second planet.
List: reptilians, amphibians, molluscs, insects, worms, cnidaria, crustaceans, arachnids, mammals (Lesser Act?)

I thought the Lineals was supposed to be the answer to that. As I remember, Lineals are supposed to be some sort of hyper-evolutionary species that could turn into basically any biological monster possible.

They are fast solution to create complex organisms. And I'm not sure they can be used (or would be used) in worlds that already have developed biosphere.

This feels like a way to automate the creation of these clades, which generally require Grand Acts by themselves. I understand it may be frustrating to see gaps in the biosphere, but that is by design. Our existing clades are evolving in new and unusual shapes already - think tiny pollinating birds, giant predatory pigs, swimming wingless birds, etc.

If you want those clades to exist, you can sponsor Grand Acts for them, or then create one species from them with a Lesser Act and allow it to diversify over time, for example a specific mollusc that might evolve into several kinds of related molluscs. Someone is making bees this Epoch, works the same way.

The Lineals are a special case, and almost on the edge of Cosmic with all their potential. The fact they are placed out in the universe away from our other life makes me more comfortable with their idea. It's a form od life for explorers of the Void to come across in the future of this setting. Their evolutions will take time and centuries to progress, of course.

Mmh, Vigor is already the base of martial arts. I'm not familiar with wuxia/xianxia, but it functions much like how I understand ki-based martial arts. I haven't detailed its use among the Sura or other races much, but I imagine masters of Vigor as muscle monks doing every trick you see in media of that kind (and more; you can use highly cultivated Vigor to punch holes into the Unseen, for example). What are you expecting out of it, specifically?

Ardency is also kind of a martial art, though it is more on the side of a mental discipline. Focus your will enough through meditation and devotion to break stone with your blows and so forth.

[X] Gather spirits and teach them the Art of Dramaturgy: The art and a science behind the creation of legends. (Grand Act)

A mortal's narrative has its own structure which can be predicted and controlled, shifted into a new direction by those with the right knowledge. And so, the most ambitious spirits are gathered. The Muse who wants to do more than inspire and create her own epic. The Monument Maker who wishes to forge even the legends of his monuments. The Dream Canidae who really wants their mortal friends to experience the Unseen as they do. All the spirits of the world who desire more are taught the Art of Dramaturgy, the science of narrative flow and charged to bring their visions into reality.

[X] Create the Warmaidens within the Unseen, who gaze over each battlefield appraising potential champions (Grand Act): Wracked by the tremors of the first true war among societies to occur in creation, within the depths of the Unseen comes into being a second city. But where the first is a wondrous assembly of imagination, shifting before the eye in a myriad of colours and gemstones, the second city is from the outside an imposing fortress of impossible scale, stained with ash and soot yet retaining a stark majesty. Within dwell Warmaidens, spirits of conflict who peer out into the Seen to observe conflict between thinking beings and, occasionally, intervene. A valorous youth beholds a brief vision of a winged human with the head of a hawk, wiry form lined with corded muscle, clutching something in taloned feet before the weight of a fine weapon suddenly lands in their grip so that they may drive off the raiders threatening the village. A chieftain hears faint whispers in the wind that grant insight into the foe's march, and outmaneuver the enemy warband. But, this victory from Elsewhere is a pact, not a gift. For in accepting this aid, they have pledged their fealty to the fortress-city forevermore. Be it in the very battle this aid was extended, or after a long life, when they die in the Seen and awaken to their spirit form within the Unseen, they find themselves in the fortress-city, with the Warmaiden who aided them becoming their mate and bringing about the next generation of Warmaidens, along with the spirits of each mortal who had in the Seen lived as their true companion or unfailingly loyal servant, now becoming warriors and labourers anew. And so, the fortress-city grows, with war feeding war, and its armies grow ever mightier, its forges ringing without pause.

Is expanding the world tree a Grand Act or a cosmic act? Or does the scale of the act affect the expansion?
