[X] Attack the demon
-[X] Approach until close enough to throw firebombs at the demon and his minions to damage and lure them towards us.
--[X] Throw knives if the enemy group is not lured, then actually go towards them if they still don't attack.
---[X] If enemies approach Kirika uses slow down on the demon letting the adds move ahead of the boss so Oscar and Kirika can finish the minions off.
---[X] Oscar focuses on defense acting as tank capitalizing on any openings while Kirika focuses on avoidance and damage.
----[X] when the demon arrives Kirika moves to engage it focusing on outmanevering and landing blows to the legs that impair movement to further slow it down.
-----[X] Oscar will keep focusing on adds until they are dead then move to engage demon with a more mobile style.

Blech, overcomplicated plan yet the boss is weak to fire bombs so this should be good enough.

I'm fairly certain the boss has a key for the sewers but do we actually need it? Like would anything stop us from just breaking the door down when we get to it?

Realistically, the fact that he doesn't look to be sitting pretty in the fog gate room waiting for us to throw poop over the wall, and instead is likely to respond to walking past him to head below with a sweet-ass double machete plunging attack as we walk under the bridge.

That said we could probably break down the door? Though I remember it looking decently reinforced and it's a stone wall, so I don't know if it could be done easily.

Any door can be broken down with enough time and force, the problem with trying that here is time likely wouldn't be on our side. Ignoring the threat of being on the wrong end of a plunge just getting to the door, if we can't kick it down fast we'll find ourselves backed up against the wall by Machete-cow-man. Plus the dogs are a pain enough in that fight when you're not starting with your back to a wall *and* we have the two thieves to worry about.

To be honest, I think we're better off actually fighting this battle rather than trying to bypass it. If we can get rid of the dogs and thieves, then Kirika- being the fast and agile little murder-blender she is -could probably handle this even without using her magic. IIRC, Machete-demon really telegraphs his attacks and is thus pretty easy to dodge despite his actual swings being pretty fast.

He'll probably fight a little smarter than he does in game though, but I think we can handle it so long as we don't do something stupid.

Well, I can't think of anything better so plan "firebomb cheese v0.5: this time with less fog gates" will do.

Tis' not a bad plan to be sure, though I will say it could probably be made more concise.

First priority must be getting rid of the dogs and thieves though. We don't fight the Machete-cowman until we can focus on him without having to worry about a thief or dog opening us to the demons slashing. Trust me: you ignore the dogs in game the fight becomes ten times harder just from them body-blocking you, let alone attacking you while you're focused on the big guy.

we get him alone, he'll be a pushover. we have to fight him with four distractions that can be dangerous in their own right? From my experience of fighting this boss knight-style, Oscar's gonna get messed up.

Anywho, we can break down how this fight is likely going to play out:

The dogs will rush us and likely die quickly. The thieves will hang back and attack if we look exposed, most likely opening us to getting machete'd. The Demon will keep advancing on us and applying pressure.

Thus, I propose the following:

[X] Attack the demon
-[X] Focus down the minions first
--[X] Leave the dogs to Oscar, focus on the Thieves
-[X] Time-slow the demon if it gets close to us or Oscar
-[X] Apply firebombs liberally

Once all that's done we can look into killing the boss, but that'll probably be another round away so we don't need much of a plan beyond 'kill the littles first' yet.

Also, I know I've cut out the knives but Kirika... kinda sucks with them. I mean, have we ever actually hit something we were aiming for with the things? We'll need a bit more practice in less pressing circumstances before I'd think of them as viable and worth spending time on in a 'boss battle'.

"In that case," you say, retrieving a firebomb from your pouch "we'll focus on the underlings first."

"And what, just let the demon do as he wishes?" Oscar asks with a shake of his head. "The demon we encountered on the wall proved size doesn't always mean slow for demons."

"It's fine, I'll just slow him down with my magic. Besides, it's just until we take out the little guys." You reply with a shrug. "Anyway…"

You step back around the bend and toss the firebomb at the archway. As the bomb flies through the air, you summon your claws and sprint after it, ready to slice up whoever survives the explosion.

The dogs are the first to notice you, raising their heads at your approach almost as soon as you throw the firebomb. They both stand and rush out through the archway before the firebomb lands, slobber dribbling from their mouths as they come.

The firebomb lands between the two thieves just as they turn to see what the dogs are getting worked up about. One manages to jump away from the flame that bursts out of the ceramic ball, but the other one that was injured in his fight with Oscar isn't nearly as fast. You can hear his gurgled screams as he flails about in an attempt to extinguish the burning oil that sticks to him like napalm.

The demon lets out a low growl at the sight and stands to his full height – easily three Kirikas high! He wraps his giant hands around the handles of his machetes and, with an angry grunt, pulls them both out of the ground. Now armed, he slowly begins to walk through the fire that's rapidly spreading across the grassy ground thanks to the oil. The flames leap up at his feet but he ignores it completely, his thick skin not even marked by burns.

As the demon approaches, you meet the dogs just before the little bridge. One leaps at you with its toothy jaws open while the other runs around to your right to get at you from the side. You cleave through the front half of the lunging dog with a horizontal swing of your claws and send it flying off the bridge. You hear a yelp from the second one as Oscar charges forward to chop off its front leg.

Your friend steps past you and plunges his sword down through the dog's skull as it attempts to crawl away.

"This is going pretty well." You say, grinning threateningly at the last thief as he takes a few steps back from the archway.

"We still have the demon to worry about." Oscar replies, pulling his sword out and readying himself.

The demon in question stops just before the archway and rolls his shoulders. You hear his breaths becoming more and more intense before he lets out a loud, furious roar and charges at you. He lunges forwards before reaching you and swings his massive machetes down at you with a powerful force.

You leap out of the way with no issue and Oscar manages to avoid the attack well enough, if barely. The demon doesn't give your friend time to recover, however, and swings at him as he's getting up from his roll. Oscar manages to duck under the fist machete and block the second with his shield, but you hear him grunt in pain and his shield gains a deep horizontal dent.

Seeing your friend being backed up against the wall of the street, you slash at the demon's back, causing it to grunt in pain. It turns on you, bringing its machetes around in a furious swing that cleaves big chunks of brick out of the wall behind you.

Having ducked under the attack, you leap out from beneath the demon and launch yourself up into the air. You focus your magic on him as you land on top of the stone wall the archway is built into.

A firebomb shatters against the demon's back in slow motion and you see Oscar standing a short ways down the street with another, his shield discarded. "Kirika, deal with the other hollow!" He shouts before throwing another firebomb.

This time it shatters against the demon's chest, as it's turned around to face him. It lets out a howl and charges Oscar, but is slowed somewhat by your magic. You hope it's slowed enough for Oscar to last as you turn your attention to the final hollow thief in the little grassy courtyard.

He looks up and the two of you stare at each other for a moment. The hollow moves first, reaching into a well-hidden pocket. You drop down on him before he can get the knife all the way out, bringing your claws down to cleave him apart. The hollow spots you in time and rolls to the side, resulting in you only catching and removing his left foot.

Wounded and unable to scramble to his feet (foot) with only one foot left, you grin down at him with a malicious grin. Slowly, you approach him as he tries to scramble back, but he hits a wall and has nowhere to go. Do you imagine the fear you see in his empty eye sockets? Perhaps the red glow that seems to replace his eyes can express fear, but it doesn't matter. The fear is gone the moment you remove his head, the red glow going out by the time his head's rolling on the ground.

A loud crash interrupts your chance at revelling in your superiority over the hollow. You look out through the archway to see Oscar just barely rolling under another swing from the demon. His armour doesn't have any nasty dents to suggest he's been hit, but he also doesn't look like he's doing well in the cramped street.

Wasn't there a slightly more spacious courtyard a bit back the way we came? If so, I suggest we tell Oscar to pull back to it and stop fighting Mr. Machete in a narrow street where dodging is that much harder. Meanwhile, we focus on harrying the demon to keep him off Oscar while he moves to better ground.

Thoughts anyone?

Yeah the initial area we come down to is a bit more open than his boss area, also we should remember to loot the houses the thieves come out of in the alleyway after the fight is over there is some gear in some of them if I remember right.

[X] Go help Oscar
-[X] Try to draw aggro away from him
-[X] Tell Oscar to pull back to the earlier courtyard
--[X] Lure the Demon into the courtyard once Oscar is clear of the narrow street.

Edit: Farseer's vote has more details that are useful, so I'm adding their bit on.

You can't help a wry grin as you rush towards the fight. You've had to come running to Oscar's rescue a bunch of times so far, despite only knowing him for a few days. Of course, he's saved your butt a few times too, but that's nitpicking.

He's kind of like a pet that needs to be protected. A talking, armoured and sword-swinging pet.

"Hey, demon goat thingy!" You shout, throwing your last firebomb at the demon's back. "Come pick on someone your own… uh, speed!"

The demon barely flinches at the fire engulfing his back. With a low, almost irritated growl, he swings one of his machetes hard horizontally at Oscar. Oscar manages to duck under it and the blade embeds itself into the wall, showering him in bits of brick.

As Oscar's busy covering himself from the debris, the demon lifts his foot and kicks Oscar with enough force to send him flying down the street. The demon yanks the embedded machete out of the wall with a loud grunt and turns on you with a bestial gaze.

"Oscar, go back to the courtyard with the fire!" You call to your friend as you square up with the demon. "There's more space to fight this guy back there!"

You notice the demon glance back at Oscar, who's slowly pulling himself up from the heavy kick. It turns back and opens its strange toothy mouth, and you hear a growling grumble from its throat. It takes you a moment to realise the demon's chuckling.

Slowly, confidently, the demon begins walking towards you. Its pace starts to pick up until it's quickly sprinting down the street towards you. Even with your magic focused on him, he's still making a respectable speed.

Even so, he's still slowed enough that you're able to leap back from his lunging overhead machete slam. You detach and toss two of your claws at him as you move back, both digging into his gut and gaining a satisfying grunt of pain.

The demon growl-chuckles again as he stands up straight. He embeds one of his machetes in the ground and reaches down to grab both of your thrown claws in one hand. His mouth moves and you hear a series of almost intentional growls and grumbles as he yanks your claws out of his gut. His head lifts to face you directly and he grunts and growls, as if directly communicating.

"If you're trying to tell me something or whatever," you say, restoring your thrown claws and scratching them together as if sharpening them "you shouldn't waste your time. I can't understand you and I don't care anyway."

"…little robin will die."

"Huh?" Did… did the demon just speak?

The demon takes advantage of your surprise to charge you, ramming his thick bony shoulder into your face and launching you back into the burning little yard. You feel a sharp pain in your nose and taste a steady stream of blood pouring from it. Grumbling, you shut off your senses and hope any damage is repaired by the time you finish this fight. You'd rather not be running around with a broken nose.

The demon chuckles again and swings one of his machetes down at you. "Robin dancing around, will eventually tire." He follows up with a horizontal swing with his other machete, completely ignoring the walls and showering the street in more debris. "Little robin will be crushed."

You avoid both attacks without problem, although you think you get a few cuts and scrapes from the bits of brick being shattered. You sidestep the first and duck below the second, using the chance to roll through the demon's legs to get past him. You slice at his legs as you go, but his skin's apparently thick enough that you don't do much damage with the passing attack.

You don't stop once you're behind the demon, wasting no time to move down the street. You hear the demon's thumping footsteps follow behind you, as well as his booming voice. "Little robin running to knight. Knight will break, robin will die."

What's up with this guy? Are you meant to be a robin? That's kinda touching in a creepy way, but you definitely prefer-

The demon's footsteps suddenly stop and you feel a large presence above you. You just barely manage to leap out of the way as the demon slams his machetes down in another surprisingly far lunge. The shards of stone and brick the impact kicks up shower you again, and although you don't feel anything, you do notice a few bits jutting out of your side.

"Kirika, are you alright?!"

Oscar runs over to you and pulls you up. You've just about made it to the wider part of the street, the big bonfire burning harshly at the other end. Oscar pulls you back a bit so that you're both roughly in the centre of the wider section.

The demon looms threateningly at the edge of the open space, breathing harshly and eyeing you like a wolf.

Hmm... Honestly, I don't have a full and proper vote figured out yet, but I do have a few rough ideas:
- tie up Capra's ankles with a claw-chain.
- stab him in his eyes.
- stab him in his wrists/cut up his hands so he can't hold his machetes anymore.
Any of these will, if successful, remove either or both of Capra's advantages in speed, striking power, and reach. Whatever we do, though, it's probably best to do it alongside some other sort of attack (either a simultaneous claw throw, or just having us and Oscar attack it at the same time) so that at least something gets through. Might also be worthwhile having one of us got for the gut wound we've already given Capra, and try to exploit that.

Any thoughts?

Also, the way that run vote is phrased is just asking for him to suddenly pull a Taurus and just... jump to the upper platform.
