Gods of Chaos: a Riot God Quest

[X] Enable The Sun to focus it's emissions into singular deadly lazer of variable power. (Cosmic Act)

Solar superlaser people! You know you want it!
I feel like your God at the end of this quest is just going to be trying to hype up the sun *so hard*.

EDIT: Also decided to move all my votes here to one place. Now I type this I realise I have no idea *why* I'm doing that, but I'm here now, so fuck it.
EDIT 2: Put my stuff into the format @Shard suggested.

AUTHORED:
[X] Raise up the City of the First Children by the Island. (Grand Act)
(link to original here)

NOT AUTHORED:
[X] (Cosmic Act) Create The Stars and Star-trails
[X] Create the Custodians. (Cosmic Act)
[X] Create Law of Constant Evolution (Cosmic Act)
[X] Create a moon as a font of magic and the bridge between the Real and the Unreal (Cosmic Act)
[X] Create the Ouroboros, a monstruously powerful sea serpent tasked with protecting the world from external threats (Cosmic Act)
[X] the grand penguins (cosmic act)
[X] Create GigaChad (Cosmic Act)
[X] Create words from the edge. (Cosmic Act.)

[X] The Hot Lands. (Grand Act)

[X] Create the Clouded Lands, a set of absolute towering mountains surrounded by impossibly deep canyons and ravines. Between these mountains float a series of various sized pieces of land that move between the mountain peaks in, some the size of a wagon and others big enough to be a small country in itself.(Grand Act)

[X] let there be myriad fishes in the sea and beautiful coral reef for them to dwell in (lesser act)
[X] Create The Triumphant Comet.(Lesser Act)
[X] Create The Arising Star (Lesser Art)

Should we commit to a more ordered structuring of votes? Maybe something like author votes first then vote on them after.

I'm not so sure about Custodians on a meta level. It feels like we'll be putting Photomajig on the spot to constantly generate novel events for us - I think it's better if we let them develop organically as a consequence of events.

If the Custodians pass, they will be a background force, dutifully being cosmic janitors until you pass. I think they are an interesting addition for the setting that will exist at the completion of this Quest - inhuman divine servants seeking to uphold the will of the Elder Gods in a time when They themselves have long since departed Creation. Sounds like a great force to deal with as either an antagonist (rogue Custodians! Custodians who think you are in the path of the orderly running of the cosmos!) or as a benevolent primordial force.

They will never be doing your work for you during this Quest, however. That remains your responsibility.

But... their entire purpose is to maintain the universe so we can get things to develop until we either interfere again or retire into the stars. All he'd need to do is mention that things are going good... at least until they're not.

Things will develop on their own, but you are never going to automate the process of Creation. It needs to take place as haphazardly and chaotically as it will! I don't want to interfere in this process any more than I do, but if the Custodians create things, it'll necessarily be me the QM being the one who does the creating. That is not ideal - my job should be to develop what you give me, not replace you.

The Cultivar suggestion might or might not have a similar issue? If their job is just to help living things grow and spread existing lifeforms onto new lands as they are created, that is fine. If they are expected to create new lifeforms altogether - I won't ban that, but it will be like with the Custodians: slow evolution, don't expect constant events by them during play.

Not a bad shout, but I like my coral cities...

Hmm. Okay. A compromise.

[ ] Raise up the City of the First Children by the Island. (Grand Act)
Watch.
Bãsn, the Smiling Maker, sees the First Children. Within their hiveminds, he sees -
lovehatesorrowjoydisgusthungerlust
- his kingdom, the infinite palace of desire.
They are not born of his design, and yet they honour him regardless. His eternal smile widens.
"Honour given, honour granted." His koan. Blessing and curse at once.

Watch.
Bãsn digs his fingers into his chest, shreds his ephemeral flesh, shatters godly bone.
Opens his heart, and calls forth the might of the Unfrozen Sun.
Creation in its purest form.
From his wound, it flows. Red. Rich and heady. Sinking into the World Ocean.
Twisting into immortal currents, freezing into scarlet ice.

Watch.
Bãsn laughs.
The ice changes.
Changed forever, Holy Ocean-and-Grinning Spirit, it rises, up, up-
Breaks the surface. The City shimmers in sunlight for the first time, dreaming spires and shadowed streets.
Immortal Home of the First Children, binding itself to the Island through long coral strands.
"Honour granted, honour given." His koan. Today they sing his praises.

Tomorrow they curse his name.

-The Scarlet Cycle, Stanzas 1-3, First Children oral tradition.

The city's made of coral, created from the blood of Bãsn (i.e. me) and the water of the World Ocean. It's bound to the island, but not directly attached to it, so everyone else can play around inside. Gives the First Children somewhere to live, and feels appropriately mythic. Thoughts?

Well-written, feels like a proper creation myth, very evocative - have a +1 Vote from a Mark of Artistry.

So I was bored and started thinking about what the Watcher and Historian look like. So I started drawing and this was the finished product. Enjoy.

Hey, it's me again, so while I was drawing The Watcher and The Historian I also drew this but stopped halfway, Ik`Shar because while rereading I realized that he did not have legs and I was worrying over nothing so I drew a ball and put some eyes in it. And the World Sea because while working on it I realized that we still had not given it a solid form or a name (which should be Pent) and so I just drew an outline.

These are amazing and I hope you keep working on them!

I could be misinterpreting things, but I may be getting the impression that some people are trying to author multiple acts which I know for certain is a no-go.

Indeed - one Act per round. We don't want any one godling dominating the creation process. Worry not, there is plenty of time left for Creation.

That assuages my concerns about the custodians enough to support it.

Maybe we should go for this format of voting in our posts for organizational purposes?

[X] The Hot Lands. (Grand Act)

In the Southwest ocean, a tectonic plate is tipped upward, raising a great landmass above the ocean. This continent is a place of stone and energy; mountains and volcanoes reach toward the sky, while hot springs and geysers pepper the rocky landscape. Minerals and metals of a thousand types are abundant; the lowlands begin building soil from weathered stone, and the uplands see snow falling on the high mountain peaks.

[X] Raise up the City of the First Children by the Island. (Grand Act)
[X] Create the K'orlannsch, sizable and intelligent air-breathing worms that subsist on sunlight alone. (Grand Act)
[X] let there be myriad fishes in the sea and beautiful coral reef for them to dwell in (lesser act)
[X] Create the Skylands (Grand Act):
[X] Create pathways through which the worlds can be connected forevermore (Cosmic Act)
[X] Create Leviathans (Grand Act)
[X] Create a moon as a font of magic and the bridge between the Real and the Unreal (Cosmic Act)
[X] Enable The Sun to focus it's emissions into singular deadly lazer of variable power. (Cosmic Act)

[X] Create the Abraxas, the divinely Inspired, primordial in nature, offspring and agents of the Architect's thought and mind. (Grand Act)

61. And lo, after the waters were blessed with eternal life and the universe created, did the Scrivener desire companionship.
62. For He had grown lonely, with only his equals to speak with, and sought solace in something new.
63. Thus did the Scrivener, Divine Architect and Lord of the Immutable Creation, declared "Let There Be Life!"
64. Lo, and so His thought give birth to the mind of the first of the Abraxas, who was clothed in naught but stardust.
65. And the First Spoke, and asked for companionship as well. And the Lord granted his wish, and fourteen more came from His Thought.
66. And then the Fifteen Spoke, and wished for brothers and sisters to converse with. And the Architect Thought, and more came forth.
67. So it was that four-hundred and forty more brothers and sisters were birthed, and the Void between Stars and Worlds, Real and Unreal, was filled with life.
68. Lo, and so the Architect was in his Paradise, and all was right in the World.
- Eternities, 2.61-2.68

The Abraxas, this world's equivalent to the Angels of the Bible and the Ainur of Tolkien, shall be brought into Creation. The Children and Messengers of Scrivener, the Architect of the Stars, they are immortal and primordial in nature, and shall live with their Creator in the silent Void between Worlds. Occasionally a young Abraxas may visit the primordial world, and their figures will inspire many myths and tales indeed…

So, question - what do the Abraxes do, and how can the rest of us use them?

(Clarifying tone in advance because text is shit for that - I'm not trying to pick a fight, I'm just trying to get an idea how they fit in to the setting more broadly and how they can prompt interesting developments in future epochs.)

Divine messengers basically. The lower 440 are meant to be representatives of the Makers as a whole on Earth or the Unnamed World or whatever. The first Fifteen are the only real ones that are comparable to the Ainur or the Angel of Death.

Okay. So the rest of us can use them too, then? Because that's the main thing I'm hesitant about. @Vanestus ' island was quite small, so it being sectioned off for them to experiment on was fine. Having 440 dudes who belong to you alone makes me a tiny bit uncomfortable, if only because they're pretty cool toys in the sandbox and honestly I want to play with them too.

Yeah they're meant for everyone else to enjoy.

The Triumphant Comet will always appear in the Material and Immaterial realms whenever a grand story concludes. It shines with every color imaginable and stays in the sky for a day and a night.

What are you talking about? GigaChad would be a brilliant addition to this world! How could his creation possibly be a bad thing?
It doesn't fit in the setting, it would ruin the fantasy theme of the entire thing with dead memes, and…

Let's just… not.

Also we're just three votes away from having a free divine messengers service, go vote for the Abraxas

The Arising Star will always appear, first in the Immaterial than in the Material realms during the night to signal to whoever may observe it that a grand story has begun, it shines with many different colors and shines in the sky of both realms for one night and one day.

Is this fine? Got inspired by yours so decided to try and create a counterpart for it?
