Animus Ex Nihilo - A God Quest

Will that stay the same now that we have the opposing Death Domain? It can't be a coincidence that the price tag for the Healing Domain has doubled. It seems like too much to risk imo.
I think the price doubled becuase we picked a second domain period. Any domain would have caused the same effect.

Presently, I'm leaning towards the first plan I think now that I've got it all laid out especially since we aren't guaranteed to find the Devourer with our first action.
I would prefer to maditate on the Sea first, its our main identity and I would like if it stayed our dominant domain. We don't need death to defeat the devourer, we did it with no death domain at all.

We can't pay for actions like that to my knowledge, and WoG is that after we find the Devourer we can go get our herald and the Sky Child for help.

We won that fight because the Devourer was fighting us 2 domains to 2 domains at the time, and we had the larger health pool on our side due to the presence of the Herald. If we go to fight the Devourer this turn we won't be fighting him 2 domains to 2 domains we'll be fighting him 3 domains to 3 domains due to our sea domain being useless for the fight, Proud Waters only having death as an applicable domain for the fight, and the Sky Child only having two presumably applicable domains for the fight if we get lucky although that isn't guarnteed.

If, people are fine accepting that fight, and the risks that come with it I'll change the action but if they aren't, and they still want to hunt the Devourer we should meditate on our death domain, not our sea domain.

An interesting, if unfortunate development.

[ ] Plan Charging Up
-[ ] Claim the Deep Reef
-[ ] Inspire the boat makers. - Herald
-[ ] Bless the bereaved. - 1 Power
-[ ] Protect the dead. - 1 Power
-[ ] Imbue power into sea life for later use. - 2 Power

This is my suggestion. Claiming the Deep Reef is heavily implied to increase our Power Gain, and combined with Imbue Sea Life that ought to give us at least 14 to play with next turn. Enough to both claim Healing and take care of any emergencies that prop up.

Meanwhile, Blessing the Bereaved and Protecting the Dead are mostly there to make use of our new Death Domain. Blessing the Bereaved in particular is good, as the update notes that we've just discredited the "wrong" kind of burial. Dealing out rewards for doing the right thing will be even more effective.

... Also, I am having the Herald inspire boat makers because it either means we get boat design inspired by our magnificent carp or that our Carp is straight up teaching people how to make boats.

Or both. Both is also good.

Will that stay the same now that we have the opposing Death Domain? It can't be a coincidence that the price tag for the Healing Domain has doubled. It seems like too much to risk imo.
I think it's more likely that the cost of Healing increased because we now have two Domains, not helped by one of them being thematically opposed Healing.

I don't expect Proud Waters to be able to pick up every Domain in existance, and rising costs is a classic way to limit that.

What? The Devourer hides in the depths of sea, so the Sea domain would absolutely come into the fight.

No, he doesn't he hides on an island he wiped of all life and turned into a frozen wasteland that's why Azel was talking about him just not approaching the sea, and therefore leaving us unable to harm him when we first talked about hunting him.

Buut, what if protecting the dead + hunting the devourer synergise into ambushing the fucker as he comes to feed on our dead? Then we would be fighting on home ground.

It could. @Azel is this the case? Namely would this combination of actions allow us to ambush the Devourer in the sea? And, if so would we need to add the Herald to one of these actions to gain its aid for the ambush? Would we also be able to include the Sky Child just in case the Devourer tried to escape or would that need an action?

Also I found the cite on his lair just in case.
Far away, you knew not precisely where, you could feel the beat of wings. The air rushing past your decayed bones. Beneath you stretched a large archipelago. The land was full of firs and animals. The sea was full of fish. It sickened you to behold, and so you drew forth your power to smother it. The trees died under you gaze, ice shards growing out of their bark. The animals tried to run, but their blood cooled and soon their hearts were beating frantically on the frozen blood. Now it was a good place to rest. And then your wings were gone, and you were beneath the waves again, the power of the Devourer consumed in its entirety.

Learned the Devourers domains: Death and Cold
Gained approximate location of the Devourers lair.

Though also without the aid of the Sky Child. Or at least involving them risks losing the ambush aspect of it.

Maybe we could have them in the background for when the Devourer sprouts wings again.

It might happen, but that would depend on the rolls and the Devourers actions for the turn. If the Herald is assigned to the same action, it would definitely be present, otherwise that depends on the dice too. The Sky Child wouldn't be present for that though either way, since it has no reason to be in the sea and it wouldn't consent to spending its entire time down there on the off chance that you can ambush the Devourer.

I'll move the herald action around then to ensure he's present but going for death domain upgrade still seems better on account of it being applicable to the fight both in the sea and out of it.

Waiting until we get the healing domain just sounds superior, since it means we have an opposed domain that we can use to mitigate and overcome his abilities via recovery.

I am symbolically opposed to meditating on any other Domain before we do so on Sea.

It's our Starter Domain, it gets special privileges.

Can we assign Herald to any of these actions though? Protect the dead is Death and hunt is nonaligned.

[] Plan The Deep Devours
- [] Inspire the boat makers. - 1 Power
- [] Protect the dead. - 1 Power
- [] Bless the explorers. (Island Expedition) - Herald
- [] Bless the bereaved. - 1 Power
- [] Find and slay the Devourer. - 1 Power
- [] Claim the Deep Reef - 6 Power

If no one wants to mediate on death then we just do it this way since mediating on the sea is most likely less efficient than claiming the Deep Reef. But, if we're doing it this way I'd prefer to wait, and just claim the healing domain.

[] Plan Staking a Claim
- [] Bless the plants. - 1 Power
- [] Inspire the boat makers. - 1 Power
- [] Protect the dead. - 1 Power
- [] Bless the explorers. (Island Expedition) - Herald
- [] Bless the bereaved. - 1 Power
- [] Claim the Deep Reef - 6 Power

So I'll be voting for this. As, we should get at least 3 power gain from this plan so we should be able to claim the healing domain, and hunt the Devourer next turn.

My reasoning is at the top of the page.

I think it is necessary to be in maximum contact with our people at the moment. I mean they've already been scattered, and it looks like a lot of them are going to become Sky Child worshippers, and since he doesn't seem to want to actively help I don't want that to happen. A lot of our traditions are being lost -> loss of influence for us, at least in the long run.

Sky Child seems to do what he wants when he wants, in itself this is not a problem but he was suspicious of us a while ago and refuses to help us in an ambush against the devourer. With the rise of his worshippers I am afraid that he tries to separate himself from us ^^

Although Sky Child stopped the bad weather on our territory, he also made us lose the potential to get a domain related to the sky. I feel like he takes a lot of advantage of us but doesn't do much in return...

I think we need to establish a few things now while we can.
1) We need to make sure everyone is on board with our new death rites. It's a new major source of power for us, if we can make good use of it. We don't want anyone to keep using the old rites and potentially creating a competing Death God out in the forest
2) I think we should continue healing every turn, just so it never becomes a thing people stop associating us with. It seems like because of the dichotomy between life and death that getting the domain is now more expensive; I wouldn't be surprised if that means that people lose faith in our ability to heal more quickly as well.
3) Expeditions with our current boats seem more foolish than is worthwhile; we should get boats that can better sail upon the open waters first.
4) Deep Reef seems like it could be a major boost in our power, and us picking it up means that someone else can't
