Animus Ex Nihilo - A God Quest

Fingers crossed that with this turn's success in the Mountain areas they build a shrine for us over there. That would help us a lot with the quality of prayers from over there.

Also we should figure out how to pursue a Summer domain to combat Winter.

Or perhaps find another spirit.
We have air, earth and water... Need Fire for Captain Planet I mean Greater Elements spirit.

So I just caught up and I don't wanna be "That Guy" but... if y'all put power aside in the fish at least two or so turns ago (ignoring the undead creation since that's obviously riskier), Healing could've been grabbed before the Devourer rematch or Sea 2 could've been solidified at least.

Is... there some thread-wide reason in the 84 pages I skipped that "we" don't store energy for bigger projects in the future- when there are so many valuable ones floating around?

No, you're right. We could have and should have done this way sooner.

Yes. Though you have no idea what might happen if you try. Or what will happen if the shamans try again for that matter.
it be interesting if you give the option to create merfolk. so if the worst comes and you can't defeat the serpent and he destroys the sea people you can retreat into the depth of the ocean with at least enough followers to rebuild

Just read through this thread and the devourer feels less like an enemy and more like an impossible obstacle, or inevitable death sentence. From turn one he was eqaul to or greater in power than the players, meaning they never had the opportunity to hunt it down and end it as a threat. The fact that it exists this late into the game is by no fault of the player, and instead an unavoidable fact of the quest made by the QM with no player agency. By it's very nature it grows faster than the player's god can, and can craft more allies than they can - and in addition to that power source, gains equal power to the players via use of fear. it cannot be fought inside of it's domain and is too fast and slippery to be fought outside of it. Any method of finding ways of neutralizing that domain, matching the growth speed, or dealing some blow to its powerbase is useless because the players must spend points on their moral followers to even slightly match the growth speed of the devourer. The option to make friends is useless and wasted because the only ones available are pathetic in terms of benefit agaisnt the beast. Any attempt to decisively end this threat was made pointless because of unknown factors such as the domain, it's intelligence and it's growth methods, and methods of adapting to this and striking blows agaisnt the creature whilst they still can are impossible, because combat is based on numbers and combat methods automated by the QM. Is there even the option to mimic mythological feats and drag it out of it's domain in chains, for instance?

This is kind of a let down because the gods are to the devourer as mortals are to gods, and no option to pull a 'pantheon vs kronos' seems realistically possible. In my opinion the civilization building aspects of this quest are the most compelling element, but players have had to abandon all of that to deal with what should have always been a cunning beast, rather than some 9000 IQ primordial being. The only chance the players had of ever preventing this would be to dedicate all actions to spawning servants for every turn in preparation for war, which would be a mentally ill choice to take considering that nothing about it's intelligence was shown, nor was its massive growth rate ever hinted at.

Edit: Wait was this necroed?
