Again? When was the last time it was done?I would have not imagined to ever see a divinely powered super-carp again...
Also, not surprising, people tend to do things over and over again .

Common wisdom among the Dwarf Fortress community was that the reason carp used to be bloodthirsty murder machines was that they had been blessed by the god of blood with an unquenchable thirst for death.
Just going to say, blessing goats doesn't mean they magically become some holy animal or whatever. Afterall, that didn't happen with the fish or octopi or whatever. It just makes it easier for us to mess with it and use it to produce foood (among other things) for our people. Literally, if you want rivers then you gotta go inland. Swimming Updrive has nothing about going inland. And why limit ourselves to just water? Is the Land some kind of anti-PS thing that must be avoided liek the plague?[X] Plan: Swimming Uprive
Okay yeah a carp makes more sense than goats or exploring the lands.
We are a water-based god, and the ability to scout out the rivers is a great feature.
I could really see ourselves becoming a god of any container of water. Be it a sea, lake, river, or a bigger pond.
Okay okay, I'm just going to say that having a creature who's main power and only domain comes form the sea going on land doesn't seem like the best idea, especially if there might be something of remote danger. Not to mention that a Carp isn't a Dragon (yes yes, I know the waterfall story, but the fact remians that for now it's going to just be a carp). And the settlers are doing fine on their own for now, as they only had problems due to the weirdly low roll. Meanwhile, each turn we don't take with the land increases the chances that something else is situated there, and in worst case, it has enough power to rival us (though I doubt it....maybe...).I think explore the land will go better if we have a divine servant to help us. Plus, it's better to help the settlers get established first.
Huh. Interestnig.Common wisdom among the Dwarf Fortress community was that the reason carp used to be bloodthirsty murder machines was that they had been blessed by the god of blood with an unquenchable thirst for death.
But carps are freshwater fish? And we would use them to explore the rivers, which leaves us free to explore the land.Okay okay, I'm just going to say that having a creature who's main power and only domain comes form the sea going on land doesn't seem like the best idea, especially if there might be something of remote danger.
I'm talking about the fact that if the Carp acts like a regular Carp, then it won't be able to go on land and do land explore stuff, not to mention that if it can only stick to rivers then that leaves a huge chunk of the forest unknown, very possibly bigger than what's seen by the rivers. But carps are freshwater fish? And we would use them to explore the rivers, which leaves us free to explore the land.
We are limited by our power and domains, though.Just going to say, blessing goats doesn't mean they magically become some holy animal or whatever. A rogue-like colony building game. Famous for it's obtuse interface, extreme learning curve and plenty of insanity.
You have seen some sharks and purpoises, though no orcas.shame we haven't seen sharks or orcas. they would make excellent servants.
We're only limited by what we stick to, and the more we stick to the water domain the harder it will be to branch out from it. Take for example, the fact htat in character creation there was no Land, Forest, or Earth domain. There were a very many things that there weren't domains for, but that's one of the biggest glaring things. It can be reasoned that it was due to the fact that it was an easily obtainable domain (compared to others) that we could have gotten by simply branching out from the other ones, osrta like Death, since death will always be everywhere and apart of culture. We are limited by our power and domains, though.
Not to say I want to avoid land, but I want to corner the water market first, and a carp let's us explore further out in our are of potential influence and strength.
Fair point about branching out. Honestly I am worried another god will take another piece of the Domains cake and we'll be left in a corner with little are to flex in.We're only limited by what we stick to, and the more we stick to the water domain the harder it will be to branch out from it. By trying to croner the water market so early, we corner ourselves into it and make it a little bit harder to branch out each time. Before we try looking for potential influences and strength, we should instead look to strengthen and empower what we already have and what's in our reach, lest we go to far in a quest for power and end up emtpy-handed.
While trying to find a good secondary domain is a valid issue, I'm not sure it's as urgent a concern as feared. While we should get started on securing the Life/Death thematics, there's also something to be said for ensuring our civilization's first oversea colony gets off to an amazing start, both to continue the symbiotic cycle of growth/power that provides us with ever more actions, and to ensure we establish a good precedent for our people that this kind of thing is a worthwhile, profitable endeavor. Meanwhile, we had some foreshadowing before our fellow came along to secure the Sky domain, so if indeed we're in danger of being hyperspecialized into the Sea we'll know to take action beforehand should we wish to avert that. We're only limited by what we stick to, and the more we stick to the water domain the harder it will be to branch out from it. We can do both but it's about priorities as we only have so much power to spread around at any given time, and if you're reserving a good chunk of power in further expanding our power for future turns already then you only have a limited amount of power to invest in an attempt to gain a domain so you have to decide what you want to do with that little bit of remaining power. We can do both, and its not like we HAVE to give up the land or death, just don't enter into more agreements giving up those domains.
There's a river attached to our second settlement so develop that place and start doing stuff there, and we can develop a water domain instead of a sea domain through its river, and likely up river lake.I also put 'Explore the Land', not just blessing the goats. THe blessing of the goats and fish are so our poulation (and by proxy, power) will start rising. We don't want to be limited by not enoguh people. And there are no river actions, I just want us to start expanding into land because everyone seems to want to reject it, even though it's useful. I never said anything about sticking to the Sea, infact, I argued against it before in favor of putting some actions into land.
And even so, how do you expect to explore the rivers and see their power if nobody wants to 'Explore the Land' ?
not with that attitude.
uh dude you forgot the x
I misread the option so thanks for the correction. I still think that tying ourselves closer to our people is a good move though. That action doesn't have us communicate with our shamans that action has us communicate with people who are not our shamans.
