Age of Ice and Blood: A Pathfinder System Heroic Fantasy Quest

[X] Numb, there is nothing you can do, nowhere you can go, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and hope things will make sense eventually

I'd rather we not lock ourselves out of interesting options on a fools quest that will fo more damage than good.

Even though you cannot use it here I would be very interested in seeing what you have in mind. You always do the path to mental balance so well and if there was another character here for you to counsel I would certainly allow a write in, but this is a more limited vote because Roland is unfortunately very much alone in this moment so the question is more about where he takes the blow for a blow there will be.

With that said as time passes and Roland grows and develops as a character you will certainly be able to nuance and shift his character. Nothing is se in stone given the right circumstance and the right vote.

This is what I'd have written for this - I actually did before I reread and realised write-ins weren't acceptable ^^;

[] Lost...and yet
-[] We have been cast adrift by forces beyond our ken, we are lost so close to our own that it makes the lack of it all the worse to endure.
-[] But if we were cast here by strange magic, could we not return by the same means, given time?
-[] Yet if our true home is barred to us, surely it is better to seek what was once ours and build it anew.

This has elements of all aspects, but seeks resolution and to provide hope rather than revel in any one reaction. This was also written with the idea that Zaia was quasi-present.

[X] Determined, you will find your way home somehow come what may, you will cross oceans and forests cold plains and grinding ice. As God is your witness you will get home

This will provide some direction at least, better than an apathy that would affect our men.
Even if this direction risks to turn us into the Flying Britishman

That is very good, but it feels more like a character arc then a single reaction. The kind of hopeful resignation you are looking for I feel needs time to develop and more to the point it needs people to help one though the journey. Thankfully you guys have taken every opportunity to help others though their troubles so now Roland will be getting some support of his own whatever you choose.

Would rather be angry...

[X] Angry, at Zaia at fate, at God for setting him to wander in the wilds without hope of return

Several people saying they'd prefer to vote angry but are concerned about opposition votes. Just vote.

The angry faction is back in the game.

10/7/5 for now though, so we'll need more people not willing to set unrealistic goals.

Let's be clear here.
Level 3 spells are powerful and rare.

Level 4 spells are a thing of legend only available to the local Epic characters, either by ritual or by advancing through a chain of level 6+ feats that raise your effective CL to 7 and give you access to single level 4 spells.

Level 5 spells, which Planeshift is at its least, are simply not available to common mortal magic. It would require something greater than the world's most powerful Cleric channeling the power of his god to get us back home, something greater than the smartest archmage working out a ritual.

And even that is assuming there are any gods with that kind of power available and willing to expend it. In a lower magic setting, the gods are typically even more constrained than normal, and it would be no small feat to not only Plane Shift one through dimensions but time as well.

I'm arguing against Determined specifically because it invokes our faith in God, which was specified at the beginning of the quest to be somewhat lacking right now, so being angry at the god who has apparently abandoned his faithful and thrown us into a punishment we may or may not deserve feels more fitting.

This was, uh, basically 100% building off of arc 1 things. But I'll keep it in my back pocket :)

Or just sufficient lower-level mages looking at our ship until it makes sense and empowering it to launch it back.

I can see how it would be building off character elements in arc 1, but trouble is arc 1 was still the search for land, for information and ultimately for home. Roland did not have the information he has now in arc one so as I see things he cannot yet come to such a nuanced conclusion . This is very much a vote about what his gut is telling him and guts by and large should not be trusted with nuance.

Numb is a normal reaction to such a life-changing discovery. And it clearly states that he's going to put one in front of the other which means he's going to take care of his day-to-day right in front of him stuff.

Anger would be a possible in charcher reaction , by having anger as a core part of our character it's a lot more likely for him to make rash decisions when things are happening there aren't directly in our control. And having them angry at Zaia could alienate one of our most important allies.

Determined, we mostly agree, is a lost cause in the long run. So while it would focus us in the short term we'd also be risking giving up useful things in this world because the false hope of going home.

While I'm sure we can deal with the outcome of all three. But with numb are two colors can help with any shortcoming in the other two scenarios Roland is a very likely to listen to them unless it's what he already want me to do

Good night guys, see you tomorrow as we tally up the votes and see how Roland is going to react to finding out that he has managed to fall off the edge of a round world.
