Salem's likely to interfere anyway even if we don't attempt the rescue. A high stakes hostage situation involving the Atlas military, the SDC and the White Fang? And then add the fact that it's been publically broadcasted? That's a ripe opportunity to sow negative emotions if I ever saw one.

That's why I said in my previous post that we need knowledge more than manpower. We need to coordinate our rescue attempts together, or at least make sure that we aren't stepping on each other's toes. We can potentially contact Klein to coordinate with Willow's plan without revealing our identity to her. Finding out Ironwood's and Papa Schnee's plans would probably be a lot harder, but hopefully they're coordinating with each other. And who knows, maybe Willow already has some insight on their plans that Klein can pass onto us?

THe Problem is, Willow is doing things on her own, without anyone knowing. Hell everyone thinks the matriarch of the Schnee family is still drunk off her ass instead of beign armored up and... well

Proving that she is a Schnee.

As for getting into contact with her... Well that's going to be difficult.

Contacting winter is possible as a part 2 because her attempt will have been noticed and she'll retreat to the schnee manor afterwards. At this point she's already in pursuit and short of bumbing into her by accident we aren't going to make contact.

When you say Winter, do you mean Willow? Because Winter is on the verge of going AWOL, but hasn't just yet.

Unless Willow fails horrifically, I don't think she's just going to give up after one attempt. So I don't think she'll be going back to Schnee Manor any time soon. So getting into contact with her will be difficult regardless.

Willow's Rescue mission will be very interesting, as she only has herself and Klein... but one thing to note, she is a recovering alcoholic, and a Graduated Atlas Academy Huntress (albeit one who has not really done much with her training in almost 20 years)

She's actually very good at combat... just out of shape, out of practice and the only thing going for her against her enemies, is she's wearing heavy armor that is very strong.

Oh and Klein, don't forget the best butler.

Damn it. Why do they all have such similar names? It's a conspiracy I tell you!
 
Let's avoid mercenaries, I am sure that there are plenty of professional and honorable people in the business, but if we have a bad roll on the recruitment and we end up with a bunch of assholes that are very likely to betray us to Jackass or worse, to kidnap Weiss and Whitney.

I will point out that we still need to convince the students to actually help us, and that would most likely be a Social Roll, which Whitley has a -30 in. We've gotten quite a few bonuses from Omakes and fanart, which help offset that penalty, but if you're worried about bad rolls, the Sanctum option seems the more likely option to fail in my opinion.

Welp, I'll go for this, then.

Call it dissonance with the narrative on my part, but I just can't see how Whitley would have actually managed to endear himself with the Sanctrum group when he has done almost nothing that could allow him to know even a few of the students outside of maybe training with Pyrrah for one turn, and much less to actually convince them to risk their skin to help him.

It's probably just a misunderstanding on my part, but I just can't see it.

The thing is that the most likely thing that we will use for hiring the mercs is intrigue... And we have the same mallus as in social
