The Life and Times of Whitley Schnee (A RWBY Adventure AU)

Grandfather’s Heir:
Grandfather's Heir:

[]Nicholas Schnee: You only had the paintings and the stories of him, guiding your every thought. him fearlessly leading expeditions, living a life of love and kindness. To see his name being used so... You wanted to know their wisdom. Instead, all you heard was silence.(Gain Trait: The Heir of the Snow)
-[]You Discovered your Semblance: For the longest time, you thought you were just... useless A Boy who could not use the family semblance, the one thing that defined you as a Schnee. And then, the Small Glyph appeared on your hand one morning, as you screamed in Joy. (Start with Glyph Semblance)

You stared up at the portrait of the Grandfather intently, sitting down on the floor late into the night as you sighed. Stoic was the nature of the portrait that remained. A stern man, a man filled with duty, clad in his heavy armor, sword in front of him, his red regal cape draped over his shoulders. He was a knight. A Paladin of true power and honor to the Schnee name. A Titan who's legacy must be preserved by any means necessary. Someone whom any rightful Schnee worth the name should emulate.

It was the symbol that your father wanted to be seen by all.

It was divorced from the scars and the people who worked for him, precious people who joined him for the adventure of saving Mantle and Atlas from relying on others for help, and for Dust.

It was divorced from his knowledge, his drive and his thirst for adventure that always saw him leading expeditions from the front.

Above all else, It was divorced from the family he helped raise. It was divorced from Grandmother Nana, whom from the stories, he had loved so deeply, that she was the only one who was allowed in his room, once he realized he could not be saved from his illness. It was divorced from mother, who, in her rare moments of sobriety, would always go to his tomb, and weep for his soul. From the pictures of a fat old man who held his grandchildren in his arms with the gentlest of touches.

It was divorced from you, who's only memory of the man was a tired, sick, but happy old man in a red coat, a funny hat with a bell on it, the smell of peppermint candy on his breath and a beautiful white beard, bellowing a joyful laugh as he set you on his leg, and asked what you wanted for your birthday.

You had wanted so much to talk to the man, to hear his stories in his words, not from Father, not from mother or Winter and Weiss.

To sit on his knee, and hear that bellowing laugh again. To feel the warm hug, as he set you down with a gift in hand.

But all you heard, gazing into the stern eyes of that portrait, was silence.

Reward: Gain Trait: The Heir of the Snow: You are the Heir of Nicholas Schnee, you will honor the Schnee name in the way he had, through determination, hard work, cunning, and a love for Family. (Unknown Effect. You believe in being smarter, tougher, and Wiser than the enemy)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You were a Schnee. That was what you kept telling yourself every time you looked in the Mirror. You were a Schnee, a Son of the Snow.

That was what you kept telling yourself at least. But every day you grew older, more and more doubts flooded your mind, as you saw Winter and Weiss practice in the Courtyards, dancing on the snowy glyphs that appeared from them.

Under control, under their power. Everyone could see that the daughters of Willow were true Schnee's after all, they had Nicholas' Power.

They had his hair, they had his power…

They were the ones who had everything.

You didn't.

Whispers always followed you around as you scampered around the halls. Bastard was the word that tipped you off to their true intentions and their true thoughts. Just a child that Willow had with another man, a lesser man, who's ill-gotten blood sullies your veins with ignobility and weakness. Or you were a child by Jacques, with another woman, replaced after the child died, and you were the result.

The statements were still the same.

You were no True Schnee.

Those words more than anything, hurt you. Hurt you and angered you.

"Tell me then!" you shouted into the Mirror, shattered from your fists slamming into them, caked in your fresh blood. "Tell me what I am! Am I Schnee, Am I a Bastard!?"

Tears streamed down your face, you wanted to know the truth.

"I am a Schnee! I am born from Snow, Ice, and Cold. Burdened by duty and Hounded by Destiny!" Your voice cracked. "Grandfather, if you're listening, please… Tell me you love me? Tell me I am your family!"

And as you curled up into a ball, with blood on your face, and tears blinding you… you saw something only from Weiss and Winter.

A Glyph… A small one, but one that was unmistakable... a snowflake circling and moving at your command.

"Whitley!" Klein screamed as he broke down your door. Blood may have surrounded you. But that did not matter.

You saw the Glyph. You saw your birthright!

Reward: Aura will be set to Competent. Your Semblance: Glyph, is unlocked. You do not know how powerful you really are?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

All good things come to an end.

And the peaceful life that you knew was shattered forever.

When you were Twelve your life changed forever. What happened to you:

[]You Fought Back: You wished to be free of your Father's influence, to be free of so much pain and suffering and his abuse... He was... Not happy about it. And he punished you appropriately for it. If you wished to fight, you would fight for your freedom of the one thing you knew you would never touch, never attempt to destroy with your love of the Schnee name. The Armor of Nicholas Schnee, worn by a robot. You won. Barely, only rescued by the timely intervention of Weiss and Winter, who outright called it child abuse. But it left you horrifically injured, with a scar over your eye... nearly blinding you.

[]Winter Left: Your sister didn't want to be under anyone's boot. She told father that she did not want to be a part of this family anymore. That he dishonored the Schnee family name with every breath he took. And her gaze at you as she said those words hurt more than any wound, and word, any insult that you had heard. She did not just mean your father. Her words were pointed at you.

[]Weiss shut herself away: Mirror Mirror on the wall... who's the loneliest of them all? That was what you heard Weiss say listening through the door, as she shattered the mirror with her fist. She saw you looking at her through the door, but you remained silent. And she shut the door on you... forever.

[]Willow Hit you: It was an accident she told you. It was the booze, the beer, anything that would deflect the responsibility from her own actions. She was angry and afraid of what she had done, what you would think. But worse of all, she was lying to your face. You could see it in her eyes, as you ran away. She had done it on purpose. And the only thing she saw wasn't her little boy. But Jacques.

AN: Enjoy, and choose your flavor of Tragedy.

To be fair, Scholar + Gamps is a powerful doubling down on training. It's the path to being quite the renaissance man and being someone that can stand on, or close to, the same level as hunters without having a semblance is even more impressive.

Fought Back strikes me as way too similar to Weiss's backstory, and getting hit by Willow just feels off to me, so I'd rather go with this or Weiss shutting herself away.

I rather like the Schnee girls and I don't really want to have Weiss thing stolen from her but I would like the other option

This option is an interesting one. The way Whitley appears to be in this quest is someone that believes that family is first and the fact that her mother, the original schnee since Jaques is not a Schnee from birth, might give him more resolve in not commiting the same mistakes as her like being triked by Jaques and stuff like that.
Also, it helps on making us understand that the people might not be seing Whitley Schnee but a smaller Jaques and that is something that we don't want.

I can see why people would dislike this since it's pretty similar to Weiss' thing. But I just really enjoy Jacques being the literal worst parent

As people have correctly deduced, this is the option where Whitley tries to become a Huntsman like his elder siblings. But note the mention of the scar being worse:

You want to horde power and be a BS protagonist who can slap their way across Remnant, enjoy a giant permanent debuff to combat.
This is basically what went down in canon, and carries many of the same problems. Winter wants nothing to do with the Schnee family as it stands, and Whitley is, to her perspective, obsessing and whining over a dead man rather than doing shit. But it basically means we're not getting sucked into the boobytrap that is the Atlas Military.
[]Weiss shut herself away: Mirror Mirror on the wall... who's the loneliest of them all? That was what you heard Weiss say listening through the door, as she shattered the mirror with her fist. She saw you looking at her through the door, but you remained silent. And she shut the door on you... forever.
While the Fought Back option may seem like the way to go down a Beacon route, this is much more closely aligned with a tweaking of canon. as Weiss doesn't undergo her big defiance and choose to go to Beacon. Instead? Magoose reveals he's a secret Frozen fanboy and she breaks down. Weiss becomes the Good Little Girl Jacque wants, much like Elsa does her Conceal, Don't Feel. So Daddy Worstest doesn't give a shit if we go hang with Ozzie The Fuckless.

It's quite a meta decision: Do you all want to hang with the canon characters at the price of Weiss losing everything?

This may seem a surprise to people who's only watched the show, but Willow's various appearances in the expanded media have shown her to steal credit for Weiss' achievements to boost her social standing and the SDC's reputation. The closest thing to a benefit we get out of this is that Willow hasn't crawled inside a bottle to die and is pushing back in her own way.

I don't need to vote to tell which way the wind is blowing, and I don't need to speculate on why.

Well, now I definitely want to go with Winter leaving.

Also, as a side note, Willow, what the hell!?
