"I'd like to thank my two most influential teachers, Lord Magister Melkoth, and Lord Magister Melkoth(defunct timeline)."
To get things started I'll point out one spell that is explicitly tied into time in BoneyCanon, which you might otherwise not think to base off of: Shadowsteed.Anyone interested in trying to brainstorm Ulgu time spells?
I can't come up with anything that isn't ridiculously broken, and that might work for a quest format.
Melkoth's Mystifying Miasma has time running randomly in the casting area, causing the afflicted to mistime their attacks and jumps. Either too early or too late.Anyone interested in trying to brainstorm Ulgu time spells?

Here's an idea: the inverse or obverse face of Melkoth's Mystifying Miasma.Melkoth's Mystifying Miasma has time running randomly in the casting area, causing the afflicted to mistime their attacks and jumps. Either too early or too late.
Huh. Now that's an interesting idea.To get things started I'll point out one spell that is explicitly tied into time in BoneyCanon, which you might otherwise not think to base off of: Shadowsteed.

[Q] As the best gunslinger to ever leave the colleges.[ ] [Exam] As a rushed journeyman - you'll approach it as you would have had you tried to graduate at this point in your original lifetime, and just barely scrape a pass.
[ ] [Exam] As an overachieving novice - just like the first timeline, you'll make an extremely good showing for a young magister.
[ ] [Exam] As a once-in-a-lifetime prodigy - you'll be the best new Grey College graduate in 50 years.
[ ] [Exam] As a competitor to Volans - you're a Lady Magister, with all the skills you had and almost all the spells. If you give it your all you'll be the best Grey College graduate in history.
And the current one has lightly messed up "her" appearanceAt this rate, Abel is going to think that "Mathilde" is just a cover identity for like, three separate Shadow Wizards.
Hello I am the Mathilde, good to see you again Elector Count Abelheim. Yes I am fine, no I do not look different, why would you say that? Also I know battle magic now.At this rate, Abel is going to think that "Mathilde" is just a cover identity for like, three separate Shadow Wizards.
Mathilde is so good and so good at what she does and I love her. You've got a back-up plan to save Karak Vlag encoded within your will - but if you told Melkoth that, Algard could have a copy of it on his desk within the day.
kinda hot tbh don't judgeYou try to meet her eyes, only to realise she has none - simply empty holes into an infinite inferno.
A literally molten gaze and she likes our dog, new love interest confirmed. After that Lady Cecilia decides she's learned enough from watching you cast - and moves on to questioning Wolf about your personality, while stroking his luxurious fur. You suspect questioning him is just an excuse to have fun with your marvellous familiar, but you can hardly blame her for that.
Half flubs, half rather tidy successes - good enough considering we were operating under a handicap.Your business in the wider world is conducted entirely by mail, and that brings with it some serious frustrations:
Such as a complete inability to demonstrate gunpowder to the EIC clerk who's meant to be handling your instructions when he continually fails to understand why you want to get the EIC invested in Wurtbad's sewage system.
Or the fact that your attempt to restructure the Watch bureaucracy is utterly stymied by - well, honestly you can't tell what. If you could go and speak to Thekla you're sure you could get all this sorted out within a week, but you can't.
Fortunately your other responsibilities are proving much more amenable to this lighter touch:
Wilhelmina is happy to buy into the intelligence network you've built (on behalf of both herself and Stirland) with Markus raising no complaints. This does mean Wilhelmina could hand most of your network over to a new spymaster at Abelhelm's request - but if he were to request it you'd oblige anyway.
Emanuel has quickly gotten himself in good standing with Wurtbad's watch, with just a letter of recommendation to start things off, and has managed to catch three individuals bearing the Dhar matrix that marks 'Countess' von Carstein's agents - handing each off to Thekla for questioning. You suspect the countess will be giving up on infiltrating Wurtbad with such agents soon - at least, she will be if she's at all competent.
Reacting to fear and confusion over a miscast with a pun? Truly, he is the senpai for us."You're looking rather sinister Mathilde." Melkoth chuckles, and your panic breaks. "You're not the first person to encounter this side effect. Most likely you'll get over it in time - I don't recommend trying to undo it, the risk is too high for the mediocre gain."
Needs a closing period. You already know it can be adjusted to other winds, although you've never actually seen it done, so you make sure to reference that possibility in your rewritten text, as well as adding a few notes about the tactical possibilities of the Dhar spell that inspired your far superior creation

We learned 13 spells in a few months, going from knowing only Relatively Simple spells to learning a Battle Magic spell in a fucking week. Quite frankly, we earned this. This also means we can expect to get more College Favor for graduating, and might help win Abelhelm back over - at least enough to give us a chance. When you've got a chance to keep a once-in-a-generation prodigy on your staff, you take that chance. A gifted novice, by contrast, is easier to pass up if you've got reservations.[ ] [Exam] As a once-in-a-lifetime prodigy - you'll be the best new Grey College graduate in 50 years.
Ties into our previous spell trait.[ ] [Staff] The fog of war - how knowledge of the battlefield is the greatest power, and how you can embody that in Ulgu's mists.
Ties into our new, cooler spell trait.[ ] [Staff] Your newfound affinity for time and timing - how time is ultimately the deciding factor of everything that happens.
Hmm. Mathilde's always leaned more elemental than mystical, so she's kind of a shadows and fog girl. ...Huh, I just checked the Spellbook threadmark and realized we don't actually have any fog spells in the standard curriculum, outside of the Miasma (and arguably Smoke and Mirrors, I guess?). All of our previous fog stuff was either self-created or actually the result of a mastery. Also, rip our amazing mastery of Dread Aspect.[ ] [Staff] Your favourite, signature, spell(s): (Write-in which)
I had hoped it would interact with our fog arcane mark again, but alas it was not to be
You can certainly include Miasma, although Cecilia will have to get someone else to demonstrate it for her which makes it slightly less likely she'll be able to tie it in perfectly. As far as diluting goes - not as such, if she can't boost all of them she'll boost as many as she can reasonably fit with a particular technique. The top vote will be Cecilia's goal, but she won't feel obligated to make a lesser piece that ticks boxes over a better piece that doesn't.KR, is it okay to include the Miasma on our fave spells even though we don't actually technically know it yet? Because we can remember loving it (seriously, we loved that fucking spell) and she's read in on our time hop bullshittery anyway. Also, is this "too many" spells to include, in the sense of diluting the impact of which spells are chosen? I tried to theme them around both Mathilde's preferred spells and elemental affinity, otherwise I'd've included some of the infiltration spells she's also made good use of previously.
I rated this as insightful, because it is. The further we push things, the more the people in the know will basically have to put their credibility on the line to cover for us and get people to believe that no, we're actually NOT a Tzeentchian infiltrator (for example). And it's not like they can just explain the truth to everybody; I don't think telling (e.g.) Witch Hunters what really happened would allay their suspicions. We want the fame that comes with a stellar magister exam, but the choice between volans and prodigy to me is largely about how much we want to annoy those in the know about it. Keeping things just this side of plausible so as not to strain our grey college connections seems best to me.
The issues here are that these are basically all just spells from other Colleges. The first one is 90% just "Regrowth, but timey-wimey," the next two are basically off-brand versions of Hysh spells that already exist, the third one is... a watch... and the fourth one is literally just a Shyish spell.Rewind: Rewind time in target area for a single combat round.
Complexity of that spell should depend on how large an area the spell affects, if BM can rewind a company's casualties of the last combat round, but will afflict them with a -? confused modifier for the next combat round, because from their perspective their enemy has suddenly changed position.
A lesser version might only rewind enough area to affect a single target.
Haste: Classic haste spell, time of yourself or a target flows faster than for anyone else. Exact difference to be decided by GM. Allows you to move and react faster to your enemy. Note: excessive use may cause accelerated aging.
Bullet Time: Lesser version of Haste, only speeds up your perception, not your movements.
Tell Time: Instantly know what time and date it is.
Everything Ends: Cause target to rapidly age until death. (Does not work against the ageless like most/all(?) Daemons)
For instance, these two seem like much more appropriate Ulgu-based spells IMO.Time flies: make someone lose awareness of the passage time, making them unable to realize how long they have been at something. (RS)
Time loop: cause target to forget, or fail to realize they already did something, trapping them in a repetitive loop. (MC-FC)
Well, it didn't actually interact with our fog arcane mark before - that was our Universal Confusion mastery that tied in with the fog mark. The Dread Aspect mastery tied in with our unnatural shadow mark instead.I had hoped it would interact with our fog arcane mark again, but alas it was not to be
