[X] A nest of particularly large and vicious swamp boars who are gonna need a lot of zoggin' killin' to keep down and have a skull thicker than an ork's.
[X] Snakes in the many rivers. So many goddamn snakes. All of them poisonous. Some of them also constrictors. Some of them bigger than the tallest trees.
[X] Up in the tall trees, there's nests of black crow-like toothed birds that eat dead bodies, steal anything shiny like the teef out of a sleeping ork, and are smart. Prob'bly smarter than the orks, honestly.

Boarboyz, flyboyz, an' sea squigs!

[X] All the rivers flow down to a zoggin' big lake that's so big you can't even see what's on the other side of it and tastes salty. Lots of birds and stuff to chuck rocks at and then eat.

All we need is to know that there's more gits ta Krump on da uvver side, an' we might figure out da sekrets of Wax, making us da most advanceded Orks ta ever Ork!

E: ballOrkoonists would be gud fer a laugh or three, but my boarboyz!

[X] There's a pit that glows at night and which is surrounded by rusty metal shapes that are kinda oozy and sludge-y. It's probably a place of honour. Or zoggin' good luck 'cause there's water at the bottom an' it glows blue.

While boars are a WHFB Ork classic, they are just that. Nothing really amazing.

Vicious grot-eating mutant ants (or mut-ants, as the boyz call 'em) that spit acid, and live in tar pits.
These guys though? The first thought I had was how amazing it would be to have Ork cavalry that can charge up a hive city's walls, have the ant melt a hole into a gun emplacement where all the weedy gits that don't come out to fight are and give 'em a krumpin' for that.

Giant floating air-jellyfish that dangle paralysing tentacles down from their gas-bags. Also, their immature forms live in the water and aren't a good day if you step on them.
Anything that might lead faster to stormboyz (or jump-packs at least) gets my vote. Also a literal slap-stick, where you attach a tentacle to the end of a stick to slap someone with it.

Snakes in the many rivers. So many goddamn snakes. All of them poisonous. Some of them also constrictors. Some of them bigger than the tallest trees.
Kinda the same problem as the boars, doesn't have that exotic factor that I want.

If we are going to have sky pirate orks, we sure as hell need a parrot stand-in. Corvids check out the nececcesary boxes, plus I can see how a pissed off crow is going to burst the airbag of some flight testing ork. 2-in-1 deal of discovering the first jump-pack and founding the kult of speed if he survives the experience.

Spiders for days. Spiders that hide in the water, spiders that spin cable-thick webs, spiders that dig holes and jump out of them. Spiders.
A challenger for the ants, but these are done before in WHFB by gobbos. Who are kinda like grots. Can't be having orkz associate with grot-like things.

[ ] There's these weird path-things that are half-sunk into the swamp and all smashed up. They're made of this black stuff that doesn't taste all that good to eat. You can walk along those paths way faster than wading through the swamp, though.

Glowing sludge + insects = ZOGGIN 'ELL DATZ A 'UGE BUG. I rest my case

There will also be Boyz popping out of the cave, along the path we took, in other places in the forest. Just, everywhere.

Fungal biology is amazing.

Any 'uvver gitz dat thinkz theyz 'ard enuf and wanna hav a go iz gonna get a right krumpin'. And den dey become propa boiz becuz weez 'arder an' toofier an' more sizeable.

Itz simple supply an' demand, innit? Dey demand da krumpin', we suppliez.

Orkonomikz.

I also can't help but notice that some boyz split off to form their own tribes. This is good because it means we'll have some proper scraps with them later.
Also means that the options we didn't take will come about in some form or other, which means we can "recruit" them later on.
There appears to be fierce competition between the number three, four, and five predator spots. The crows of course are winning because crows, but the spiders, jellies, mut-ants, and boars seem to be viciously fighting over the final spot.

Who will win!?

E: Maybe they can become the Tribe Wot-Eats-Crows-Snakes 'An Jellies.
Is there some significance here that I'm not aware of?

Don't get me wrong I'm fine with the crows as an option but it's not clear to me why they are so desired.

I think the snakes and spiders could probably achieve the same thing.

My reasoning for choosing ants would be moreso that we can reenact that scene in Toy Story where the army guys come out of the mud puddle.

I would hate these options so much, so the orks will love them.

Ants and crows are no-brainer. Enough arguments were already put forward.
Bears on the other hand... We need something with raw power. Something not focused on its special abilities, magic, flying, wits or agility. We need something we can HIT HARD and something that can HIT HARD back.

And so the orks have a place of honour (wot is also lucky) on their land. And also smart dinosaur-crows, boars, and snakes.
