Combat Int is a good use of 2 Arete I guess. Unlocking whatever is behind Honing would satisfy curiosity as well. Alright.

Poor Exalted Spirit. Iridescence being passed over is only common sense, it has been rendered completely redundant, but ES still provides the useful rare stats of Int and Wisdom. At this point the small increases like that are not very impressive though, compared to saving for 7 and 25+ Arete options that compound on all our other expensive powers.

Tbh, Hunger isn't really lacking in the intelligence department - when it comes to raw stats at least. He has nearly as much Int as he has Wits despite the former being a much rarer stat, and Wis isn't lagging behind all too much either. Plus he has Gisena and Adorie in his corner, who are no slouches in that respect either.

This doesn't mean we can just forget mental stats altogether, but by this point making good choices isn't a question of whether recognizes a fork in his path, but what he wants to follow through on. No amount of 'wisdom' can help you if you really want to charge that Armament are unwilling to compromise on things. Which is not necessarily a bad thing if he has the power and/or luck to back that up.

Though I am curious what other Blood Advancements are gated behind Exalted Spirit...

On Discord, Shard described the INT/WIS boost as improving the *quality* of thought, while Wits are usually just the *speed* of thought. I thought that was a good point and should be shared with the thread

Honing turns that speed of thought into actual intelligence. Maybe you can treat it as the skill of quickly evaluating the consequences of his actions. In any event, I predict that Honing will be a dramatic competency boost. For reference, the magnitude of converting .5Wits-> INT is about 3/5 the size of our baseline INT. That means we get 60% smarter during fights.

There are a few previous fights where Honing would have helped. If we were 60% smarter, Hunger might not have stuck his brain into the Prototype Foremost Armor that ate Mizuki. If we were smarter, Augustine's series of traps might have been easy to Cut Through safely.

The voters basically choose from options that Hunger can think of. If he is smarter in combat, we will get more detailed information about the odds of success for each strategy.

Right, having better options to choose from during fights is great.

...but that Worked. not the greatest example, there.
It was objectively stupid, the result of rolling a nat 1 (that would've been applied to the Rotbeast fight had we chosen not to rescue the kid)
