... Who's the psychopath paying the money this time?

Fine does this too. If we want big inspirational narrative moments we just have to vote for the appropriate options and properly develop Hunger. We're off to the HS soon so their is no shortage of more social situations to help us develop. The main issue I have with Just a moment is the psyche conflict. I care quite a bit about mental stability and this seems like it would decrease it. To me that seems too risky.
I don't want to step on their moment here in the thread, it isn't my announcement to make. But you can check the discord to see some discussion about it!

Anyway, I really don't like the way that "Never Better" turns away from half of our Panoply items (Tears & Cloak). We decided to get the Core Panoply upgrade, which makes an undue focus on Cutting Through seem like a mistake.

As far as Mental Stability, the only counterargument that I can offer is one that I've already made: We can avoid a grind like the Procession of Worlds by making sure Hunger has noncombat abilities that will be useful to the Geas of Indenture. And just in terms of Hunger's mental health, keeping things fresh is important to the health of a quest. How long until Hunger goes mad if he gets locked into an infinite loop of fight/powerup/fight like the Forebear did?

I respect that you're voting for "Fine," but in the next 24 hours you might be faced with a choice between consolidating around "Just a Moment" or allowing "Never Better" to win with less than 50% of the votes. I hope you'll at least consider where your consolidation vote will go.

(Of course, the "Moment" people might consolidate around you! That would be neat too.)

Even though we didn't take any upgrades that have "good at healing Hunger" as an explicit benefit, I'm about ready to take a stab at his wounds anyway. Rank 8.475+2 is an obscene amount of raw power to throw at a problem, possibly enough to compensate for not having Ruling Ring for the non-blood fiddly bits. And we've not yet given Dr. Allria a close look at our injuries, lacking the power to do anything about them. But surely they're less cursed than what the Accursed passed out, she might be able to suppress them enough for Hunger to heal.

Tactics: Purée Hunger's good eye so he gains familiarity with eye-healing. Actually, it might be advisable to start with a rat, but Hunger is all about being needlessly hardcore so that's where my mind went.

His arm plopped back on, what would happen if he yanked out his good eye and put it in his other socket, before regenerating the first? Would it just vanish? I need to know, for science. I'm not actually a doctor.

The same for lungs, those are also symmetricalish. Just open Hunger right up, he doesn't take wound penalties so this is ethical. I'm still not a doctor.

Could we cheat our way to more holistic healing by zooming to the Realm of Forms, like a reverse Thorn?

Healing grace? No, we don't do that here.

Edit: Apologies for the disrespect, Dr. Allria should have been Princess Dr. Allria I.

So weird that Sharkey betrayed SORD Gang and joined up with MAEG Gang. smh
I sold my soul to the MAEG Gang because unlike you who sees everything in a gang compass - MAEG,SORD,MORAL,RANK, I try to look at the bigger picture. At our current Rank our stats are lacking behind and Overwhelm is a good solution.

I am willing to compromise in the name of the greater good build than some ego measuring contests. I stand before you, accused of treason for voting for MAEG.
And I did. And not a day goes by that it does not haunt me. But if I had to do it again, I would. I have a duty to AST, and I will not allow anyone to prevent me from carrying it out!
I did not betrayed the SORD gang, I simply solved a bigger problem.

The praxis endurance boost from Pristine is not a 25 percent reduction. It's a 5 percent reduction. Valuable if you expect to be able to heal hunger's injuries but the immediate benefit is being able to use 15 Refinements of Quickness before needing to recover instead of 12.

For optimal choice,I think build on our greatest strength is the right choice.
The only way for diverse path to compete with commited path is synergy...let's not rely on that.

Starting to think the optimal build path is taking Pinnacle for mental stats and saving for ADS to get our other stats up to par with our rank.

But also lol imagine getting a 7 Arete option and NOT spending. Couldn't be me.

We actually get a small amount of our missing mental and social stats back with Overwhelm given the condition resistance.

Oof. Now you're making me feel bad, I knew I should have not had any wordcount requirements. Uh, have you done any argument or discussion posts? Maybe I should make it a total over all posts instead of in a single post?
No I've been fairly quiet this Rihaku quest, and don't worry about it. I'd probably just choose Praxis and then hit a wall of writer's block from which I never draw any phenomenal cosmic power.

5% reduction means 25% more techniques. It means being able to use RoQ ten rather than eight times.

If we are going with Never better, can we at least take Pristine to reduce the impact of mental corruption?

Willpower + Less Praxis exertion both fit Never better since it makes the rare Praxis advancement we might get even better and because Forebear was all about that willpower. If we are going to try to emulate him, than at least get the stats necessary to do that.

Is this how you do aesthetic voting? Just pick the prettiest combo of colors?

Pristine [7 Arete]

But seriously, this is good shit, sign me up for the max Praxis route. The Forebear's hardcore enough that emulating his raw willpower's a good move for Hunger, even if I could take or leave some of the specifics. But it's not like this is a die-hard commitment, can always walk it back if the next loredump reveals him to be a total dick.
