just wondering if i missed something.

Do we have any idea what these supposed 'calamities' even are from extracting mages?

i'd be willing to change but if these calamities are able to fuck up something as powerfull as the empire with it's armaments and interstellar weapons to make them afraid of extracting mage's at ALL then i think just staying in the Voyaging Realm in hopes of aurobo's plot line can solve this issue due to his heritage.

So we can go into 1 Arete debt and Into the Breach gives us 1 Arete so we really only need 3.3 Arete (1.65 before bonuses). We can definitely produce that much Arete by the time the next update comes out and are pretty likely to generate enough for Iridescence as well by the time the next updates build vote ends.

[X] Into the Breach
[X] Impart, then Depart

[X] Priority Two

I still like Impart more but P2 is better than Long so whatever.

An extremely tight vote! We'll go ahead and eliminate Impart, then Depart and Procrastination. The other options hang on, for now...

I wouldn't be too worried about combating Armaments directly with Hunger alone... that's what a fixed Versch is for! Getting to Armament-level outside the giant robot was always going to be a gradual process, but Hunger's certainly ahead of the curve. Still, given their access to Shrouds, Shroud-unique abilities, high Attributes and pinnacle-grade weapons technology, it may be worth either learning to pilot or looking up some buffs for Letrizia that will work through Totality! Perhaps a Refinement of Battle modality that can be applied to others? The Praxis offers countless opportunities as long as one puts in the effort to develop it...
Man, it's hard to swallow these "Armaments are super awesome" posts sometimes when Versch jobbed to Ber that one time and basically hasn't been relevant since. Poor giant robot.

As for the vote...

[X] Hide Behind Gisena
[X] Priority Two

Switching back now that Gisena is ahead. I've already said how pointless I think Breach is, and we should really still go to the Human Sphere. It's been long enough.

Frankly, I'm hesitant to go to the Human Sphere until we grab Pillars.

I'd the Decimator's Affliction is active, Hunger cannot travel through interstellar space. We need a way to ensure that Hunger is not trapped on one backwater planet just because there are no mitigation targets available.

Just get Refinement of Place smh.

I was just considering taking the Mondo Bait of Procrastination, since surely it couldn't be as horrible as my paranoia implied- luckily, it was too far behind, preventing me from making a terrible mistake!

The entire quest up until now has basically fit into a single Huntress Moon mitigation, and thankfully we have Decimator's Lens now actively identifying potential Huntress Moon targets. So long as we deal with the current bought before we enter, we should be able to either identify and position ourselves towards the next best target or build up for Pillars in dozens of updates that a month in game can span.

You could also explore further Empyreal Signs that extend the power of prior facets! Offloading research onto characters that aren't impaired by the Ring's training malus is an interesting means of working around its penalties... though they still lack the advantages that a Progression-type Cursebearer innately holds!

I'm feeling the lack of Retinue right about now. Man, that'd be great. I guess I'll just have to content myself with this giant pile of 25-Arete advancements instead, woe is me.

Now that I've done some tactics arguing and some reaction Arete mining, I feel no guilt in indulging with dumb memes.

Pictured: Hunger's brain as he killed the Tyrant and consumed half of his own selfhood

Or fandom is so unimportant that it wasn't even worth sacrificing. If only Hunger was more of a geek, maybe he could have kept more of his actual personal memories!

Nobody needs names, though. You can sell them for godlike power with absolutely zero drawbacks*! It's free real estate.

*+-a few thousand drawbacks? More research is needed.

Perhaps it is the false claim of 'value' that real estate holds in our minds which is the real deception here...
Yeah! More like fake estate, am I right? Wait, why is it called that... oh, the land itself. But in the Voyaging Realm, where space can be created just as buildings can, what's the difference?

We need 12+ for mass ennoblement to really work tho. We maybe could half ass it at lesser rank, but that would cost us something. Time, most likely. Opportunities, most certainly.

Well, if we get OaF here and then scrounge up another rank worth of rank somehow after it, we can do it regardless, I guess. Maybe if Winter King unlocks OaF II?

I've been dithering between going to the Human Sphere and focusing on Aobaru's Voyage, but while writing a reaction to Lion Before Winter I came to the realization that Ǝ is Best Girl. So I should follow her advice, even if she is lion.
Your chief priority must be the defense of the Chosen One; with the forces arrayed against him you can scarce afford further distractions.
[X] Into the Breach
[X] The Long Voyage
[X] All-Defeating Stance

A huge shift of omake power towards The Long Voyage! Interesting...

Well, all other concerns aside, What Rain May Come is actually a really goddamn potent advancement when combined with an immense health pool (and we have one because of penitent); we need something to get our physical stats to roughly match our Astral Rank, and that would do the trick for any serious combat encounter where we are likely to be seriously hurt.

Utility of simply not losing stats as we lose hp should not be understated, too. Even that alone is a pretty solid buff, never-mind actually turning every injury into a proper buff.

It is a pretty solid step toward making us safer in Nilfel should we engage in direct combat with anything or anyone of import, and it is a pretty solid step toward outscaling The Terminator, which is now a big concern.

Penitent already does whole "wounds don't apply to you thing". Rains still gives us near-absolute healing for edge cases where Ring doesn't cut it and combat effectiveness boost, but it's not a deal breaker here.

Besides, it's Aobaru's quest. Let him do it and either succeed* and fail on his own merit.

*aka becomes our nemesis because of course Hunger is Big Bad of VR arc
