guys voting for infrastructure PLEASE have sense. WE lost 1/3 of our Professional military. We need to rebuild it back up to its former strength at a minimum. Vote for any of the plans that have military gain as a part of them plz. They all are the same plan just with military added in.

Regarding trade fleets, let's not constrain our merchants to much, heck this could potentially lead to further exploration without the state needed input.

The whole point of the infrastructure plan was to allow people to define their own military ideas if they wished.

Private trade would be most beneficial long term, but we've just put these administrators in, starting regulated lets us work out the kinks first, and they're almost certainly going to ask again next generation, they're merchants.

Having private fleets helps with moving more goods in the coasts and would cost less than going through roads or rivers. Making our people buy more luxury goods with each other.

But doesn't it completely negate the fact, that our administration just employed Emporoi in order to give regulations and order to said trade without stepping on their toes, since they could do it themselves? I feel like that allowing these trade fleets invalidates our previous decision without the great boni that people hope they would get. Yeah free trade is awesome and all, but the administration thing was precisely because we wanted trade and economy to be managed by our goverment in order to streamline and work with it.
Having free trade without an economic concept or system in place is just a recipe rife for explotation of not just the natives but our own people as well. Let the state create trade regulations and principles to follow that actually work out and are easily changeable by the administration, since there are actually merchants etc. within it, and then loosen them step for step to guarentee free trade in a controlled manner.
--> I believe that this is one of these cases where our 21st century sentiments are just rearing their heads, without properly looking at the circumstances of the time.
--> It´s not like free trade exists in europe to steal our tax income.

The thing is this is for the internal economy and not foreign trade so I find it ridiculous that it would be cheaper to import something from Europe and more expensive from other Elysian cities because transport is under the control of local officials who will be bribed an exorbitant amount to allow a ship passage to another territory. This will mean goods are more expensive than allowing merchants to build a fleet and would allow those administrators to be the patrons of trade groups that are beneficial for them and monopolize trade that will be a detriment to the crown rather than be just administrators. This would also make them think that internal tarriffs and tolls are a good thung if we allow private shipping later on and siphon that money to their personal estates.
