Forum dice roller! I command thee!

Alright, row twelve is...Valuechemy, my proposed system for Conjured Blade, and row twenty two is...A Fist Of One's Own, Talace's third system for Taka. Tricky, particularly since A Fist Of One's Own has way more scaling than Valuechemy, so I'm not sure what, like, 'tier' of Fist the valuechemist should be facing.

Still too scared to switch over to Fine, but I'll go halfway there and stop voting for Unacceptable. This doesn't make sense, but my brain is fried so there.

So... I'm going to be a bit rude:

@Talace , @ReaderOfFate, @LordOfMurder, @Crimson Moon, @Redshirt Army, @Sharkey_smt, @Genesys, @Dark Abstraction, @Zfglx, @veekie, @Sara, @agumentic, @Sickul, @Maragas, @Wolfy, @runeblue360, @Dieb, @Cerillian, @Pechum, @Prospalz

We should have enough arete to collapse into Maximum Greed and get Crimson without further work, baring Rihaku contradicting me. So voting splitting isn't needed to be safe anymore!
I'm still catching up with the thread but I'm pretty sure I voted for Maximum Greed from the start?

It's fine!

But more seriously, last time we had this much effort we hit 8.2 arete, and we need 5.3 with Fine, and we (probably) have a 10% arete boost active now we didn't then.

I'm still catching up with the thread but I'm pretty sure I voted for Maximum Greed from the start?
Rihaku convinced a lot of people to vote split in case we didn't get enough arete and I couldn't keep track of who had vs hadn't, so I pinged all the Greed voters. Sorry for being rude.

One of the big vote debates, as seen through the lens of a bunch of whackos with absurd magicks flinging spells at each other?

The obscene power of the Micro-wave scouring huge swaths of the battlefield with the unrivalled A.R.T. array, as lesser magicians flee in terror?
I'd buy the blu-ray of that anime, even build votes can be inspiring if represented metaphorically.

I never spilt my vote to begin with, though? Give me Crimson or give me death was my motto this vote.

Regarding the obvious 'what if he just asks point blank if we intend to hurt the people of the Temple' some thoughts on it. The first is currently when he encounters us we're probably going to still be in that mindset. Every person they win over and turncoat to protect the Temple is someone who was throwing their life at the Temple and risking the lives of it's denizens, only freed from the desire because of the Sigil that immunizes you. Archer dude, despite firing on us before he even attempted to negotiate, seemed to believe that we could be won over so long as we were actually freed from the call if we had enough enlightened self interest. It wasn't just freaked out panic bargaining as he was held at sword point, he tried to sell us on it even as we were disengaging.
As such actually moving the potential recruit's mindset from 'will attack our civilization' to 'will defend it for money' with the introduction of one might be semi-standard fare.

Regarding the 'doesn't really want to risk Hunger having a trump card' aspect however, picking Fine synergies with that intensely I think. Namely, both the techniques shown in the last update. We could make a hyper condense ball of Edeldross, and then have it be cloaked in attention deflecting shadow. Do I think it would be perfectly hidden from someone two Ranks above us?
Nope!
But! It does basically fit with 'unknown possible trump card I don't really want to chance if I don't have to even if I'd probably win.'

Oh, in that case the risk of not having Aeira's help is definitely worse than the risk of not making it to 24, thanks for being on top of the math. I wasn't keeping as close an eye on it.

Now then, one more reaction from me... I encourage others to write what they can as well, to take advantage of the snowballing.

We can probably also Pulse Blood. With Crimson it will be above his Rank so he'll seriously feel it, making him question if we're really at as much of a disadvantage as we appear to be.

I kept track of the numbers last time too. It's just a good way to encourage people to keep going, it seems. Certainly helps me to see it adding up.

I don't in normal updates, but we've passed those by an order of magnitude.

Not sure if I voted yet? Work + Travel has been A Lot.

It might be salt about Silver losing to Crimson, but both Not Dying and +STATS align for Maximum Safety. Somewhat Safe could actually provide more +STATS but I prefer Magic-Defeating stance b/c of the Curse Mitigation, and Somewhat Safe defers that for quite a while.

I'm ambivalent about the companion vote, so I'm defaulting to the option that will give other people interesting interactions & characters to draw.

You know what might be a good selling point?
Hunger's healing abilities. Pristine Star plus Blood healing together could mean that it's a valuable commodity to have even inside the ring. Not 'we'll replace their healthcare' good, they do have access to healing potions, but Lord Doctor Hunger has an official kind of vibe to it.

You did, I was all calling greed voters since many of us vote split and trying to keep track of who had and hadn't was driving me insane. Sorry for bothering you.

Note we should have arete to buy Crimson now, which is only mildly less safe and Maximum safety.

I'll probably be asleep once we learn of how much Arete we gathered so I'm feeling a bit antsy that I won't able to switch the vote if things turn out far worse than expected...

Regarding the obvious 'what if he just asks point blank if we intend to hurt the people of the Temple'
Another potential bypass to such is to precommit to finding some alternative means to ensure the livelihood of the Temple's denizens once we've freed the Ring. It's not as though something like that would be impossible. The power of our Blood extends to all forms of life and with the Azure in hand, we'd be able to provide the denizens with buffs beyond +++All Stats and Rank and a quadrupled lifespan, along with equivalents for the farmland or other vegetation within.

It's not like it would even take too long and spending a while here raising our Rank might actually leave us at a net positive on time if we become strong enough to restore Verschlengorge to his full strength, which might be within reach with the power of the Special Advancement. If we do that, it's not like we'd even be lying if we said "Only in self-defense" or something along those lines. Hell, they'd probably be at a net positive without the Call attracting random murderhobos to their doors!

If after more than 48,000 words of Omakes we don't have at least 5.3 more arete I'm not sure what to say. Last time this amount of work got us 8.2 in a single update.
