The silver lining of immediate Rank through Uttermost turned out to be a trick of the light, so after rereading the updates & cataloguing reactions (index is up to date again), it's time for a sudden-but-inevitable betrayal.

I legitimately liked and wanted to help Vanreir. Maybe that's just because he was graced with an interlude and I invested time brainstorming arguments to flip him, working the old mirror neurons, but the sentiment exists nevertheless. It's regrettable that we killed him, though naturally nowhere near as regrettable as him killing us would've been. Conjured Blade has a point about the banter with Gisena being unappealing and we've mined Letrizia for all the exposition she's willing to dispense. This potentially introduces another character to interact with. High compatibility with Hunger, zero risk from the Doom, and the honorable exchange in the duel makes me want to see more of him.

Mechanically, Unerring and Fierce Quickening gives us fucking stratospheric agility and as Noboru would tell us, agility is the best stat. Vanreir's Soul Evocation also synergizes with Hunger's tendency to work himself to the bone, just look at the high-level Battle Continuation he displayed against us. With the Ring of Blood's healing, we can translate that increased con into grinding; if Lingering Exhaustion wins, it's a fast raw stats build that doesn't rely on spiritual exertions. Also, it's one half of the Unerring Blade; if the name of Kinslayer's anything to go by, we might be able to engineer another Return in the future.

Anyway, said my piece, though if Uttermost wins on the back of Priest's art I'll happily play that too. There are a lot of cool builds in this vote; the Decision Paralysis condition's devastating in its own right.

Man, if we do end up sacrificing Rage the meme will be complete. Won basically through omake power, didn't use it once, had anti-synergy with our Ring of Blood and gave it up at the first opportunity to SORD better. If our build votes were a visual novel, she'd be the girl that's kind of there to pad out the roster and has some nice dialogue scenes with the Main Character but didn't get a route of her own due to a lack of development time. Isn't it sad, Form of Rage?

...Actually, I just realized

Stranglethorn voters: We will see Stranglethorn again. It's surprisingly common. If we get Inheritor Unerring here it beyond negates the downside of stranglethorn. Only reason we need to get Inheritor now is because it is a much, much rarer pick!

Irrelevant. We failed to hit him at all until the final blow.

Every blow being powerful only matters if you can actually land a blow. Which we couldn't.
We couldn't land a blow because it takes too much time to use Fell Handed Strike currently. Uttermost makes it effortless to use which eliminates the delay. I'm pretty sure speed wasn't the problem, the issue was the delay meant that he could hit us with a thrust before we could get our shot off.

Yep, time to switch. Stranglethorn will rise again as its inevitable but for now, Unerring has my vote.

We tried with dozens of normal wind blades. None connected.

This combo helps me realize my dream: Stranglethorn with a second defining advancement to offset the agility cost. ...we just need to do it in the opposite order due to advancement rarity.

Hey, maybe we can do a momentum here. Exhaustion sucks, though, so fffffuck stinki livr bilds... no, that doesn't have the same ring to it, I'm just not landing these recently. :p

Eh, I can agree to disagree on the condition we pick if we go unerring.

Ultimate SORD pick guys: Go Unerring now and get Stranglethorn next time it's offered! We still net higher agility than base with ridiculous Con and Str to boot! Windup time stops being relevant when your so much faster and stronger than the enemy!

Only with A Thousand Cuts, which requires spending an additional 18 arete we aren't going to have this century.
Thousand Cuts applies to all Fell Handed strokes which are now our basic attack if we take Uttermost.

Not really? Like the picks that heal our wounds it expends a significant amount of power on actually repairing the sword.
Seven times the speed and power for all sword attacks is not weak.

It also didn't connect though?
Pretty sure we only used it twice. Once to survive a thrust and once to kill Van.

Just think of the 'do it for FoR.jpg' memes... Sacrificing it on the altar of Uttermost without ever having seen it used is painful, though it does leave us net neutral on Arete as long as we buy Cut Through. It brings an EFB-alike down from 25 to 18, meaning we'd be as close to Cut Through as we are to the Ruling Ring! Closer, really, since it probably doesn't require four semi-rare picks. Uttermost also saves Arete to buy that stuff, something the thread's historically had trouble with. We've had a recent glut of reactions and art and omakes that'll go a long way toward filling the tank back up.

Come on folks: Unerring now Stranglethorn later, for utterly beyond ridiculous Con, Str, and still better-than-base agility!

We need to do it in this order due to advancement rarity.

Fine. Fine, stranglethorn later despite being better to get early!

With Inheritor we can also probably get great intel on the other two remaining farmable enemies in the Middle Ring before pushing onwards.
