The silver lining of immediate Rank through Uttermost turned out to be a trick of the light, so after rereading the updates & cataloguing reactions (index is up to date again), it's time for a sudden-but-inevitable betrayal.
[X] Lingering Exhaustion
[X] Fierce Quickening
[X] The Ring of Power - Inheritor (3 picks, 2 Arete)
-[X] The Unerring
I legitimately liked and wanted to help Vanreir. Maybe that's just because he was graced with an interlude and I invested time brainstorming arguments to flip him, working the old mirror neurons, but the sentiment exists nevertheless. It's regrettable that we killed him, though naturally nowhere near as regrettable as him killing us would've been. Conjured Blade has a point about the banter with Gisena being unappealing and we've mined Letrizia for all the exposition she's willing to dispense. This potentially introduces another character to interact with. High compatibility with Hunger, zero risk from the Doom, and the honorable exchange in the duel makes me want to see more of him.
Mechanically, Unerring and Fierce Quickening gives us fucking stratospheric agility and as Noboru would tell us, agility is the best stat. Vanreir's Soul Evocation also synergizes with Hunger's tendency to work himself to the bone, just look at the high-level Battle Continuation he displayed against us. With the Ring of Blood's healing, we can translate that increased con into grinding; if Lingering Exhaustion wins, it's a fast raw stats build that doesn't rely on spiritual exertions. Also, it's one half of the Unerring Blade; if the name of Kinslayer's anything to go by, we might be able to engineer another Return in the future.
Anyway, said my piece, though if Uttermost wins on the back of Priest's art I'll happily play that too. There are a lot of cool builds in this vote; the Decision Paralysis condition's devastating in its own right.
