[X] Temple of the False Moon
[] Hunt
[X] +1 pick during next Experience spend

Gisena continues to sweep the best girl stakes.

Either temple of the false moon or hunt depending on how brave the thread is feeling. +2 arete and no activations of apocryphal for two weeks make for a tempting reward. Need some more levels since our offensive power has fallen behind recently and we'll need some for when Ber attacks.

+1 pick is just better than 0.5 arete. Areteless picks tend to give at least a couple of stats equal to about 1 arete, plus they give our build votes more versatility.

Heh. I do appreciate the Chill of the Grave on all levels except that as a player. I was going to suggest that Hunger commit die (as was everyone, it's the obvious thing to do), but with the acknowledgement that it's an awkward thing to do in his current mental state. And three dings in a row would start to feel silly. And it would be kinda weird to get a sufficiently esoteric wound from rando swampmonster, but the roll is the roll. Basically this works great in every way.

*squints* Good, that's not the same shade of blue, that would be too scary.

There are lots of things to do in civilization, but none that feel more important than grinding? I'll think of/wait for good civ plans, I'm sure there are plenty. Won't vote for it now, though.

I'm sure grinding random monsters will get boring at some point, but it hasn't yet.

Most importantly, how long are we going to be haunted by this fucking fish? Let it gooo~

XP>Arete this is still my opinion. Echo-type stuff is way more important than a fraction of a shiny at this point.

The "let's go shopping and chill" kind of vote.
I am still worried about Tyrant's Doom, as we haven't seen it activate yet. To preempt it, I'd like our native girl to be firmly on our side.
On top of that, Chill of the Grave is a minor debuff in itself, but suggests a worrying psychological crack, to be expanded into something crippling, if we go full risk.

You know what time it is?
Giant robot repair time. We've healed a pilot, now time to heal the robot and finally have some fun with it.
Also as mentioned above, Areteless picks still give a bounty of stats or other nifty things

Interesting... so a 2 Arete bribe is sufficient to induce this level of risk-taking! Good to know for future events.
I personally wouldn't take this as perfectly strong evidence. Risk-taking behavior in quests is wildly erratic, based on a many variables beyond the QM's control.

Secret treasure maps with extreme rewards? Piles of Arete? Sign me up!

Thanks for the heads up.

On Temple, we already have quite a bit o Arete, plus 2 lives and protection. As long as we play it smart, we can probably clear it, but if we go, we need to accept that it will cost a lot of Arete, delaying Once and Future, for big immediate gain.

Temple is high risk high reward in a way that is optimized for us (thread gets to ruminate and strategize in-depth), and comes packaged with Arete, and more importantly a removal of exhausted and a lack of Apocryphal Procs.

I like +1 Pick over the other two because I'm not as fervent about +Letrizia, and Temple already gives us several Arete. +1 pick might let us, for example, take another [Echo if the Forebear] on top of what a normal pick would be, granting a much needed +Might.

Some tactical ideas and speculation for Temple of the False Moon:

- Using Gisena to dispel magical defenses before striking with Fell-Handed Stroke
- Some relation to the other blurbs we saw (Azure Moon, Total Eclipse, Huntress' Moon, Evening Sky, Winter Moon) in terms of imagery-- could be a temple to the She Who Was The Maiden character we read about, would be relevant to note that this imagery only came about after we acquired Evening Sky, which would raise chances of the power/theme being related to the temple
- Expressing Pressure in training, testing out how much stronger that increase in Astral Rank made us and what it's limits are

I think the point is that we can't clear it, and that intelligent decisions involve determining how soon we bail out, getting some of the bait without springing the full trap. It doesn't sound like a level-appropriate place at all.

"It's downright suspicious." He followed, keeping his eyes peeled. They'd spoken of fishing, and a fishing spot appeared. It could be benign, the world yielding to his whims on this small matter - a faint echo of the causality-bending influence he'd once exerted by sheer power of spirit.
Above was the first encroachment of the evening dark, faint tracery of the moon and stars, the world grown hushed and still like an expectant audience.

Okay, please don't count anything I'm saying as an argument for the temple, but I'm looking at the fishing updates for anything maybe helpful if the lemming* vote wins. +Evidence that the obvious trap is a trap. Ctrl+f for moon, not particularly meaningful 'cause we yoinked the Evening Sky in the same update. The world being the audience sets off my paranoia though.

Only useful idea... the "False Moon" could be a reflection in the water. The temple might be under a lake.

*Edit: Sorry, I should not perpetuate untrue stereotypes about lemmings. :S

It'll take a little more exposure to the Good Idea Fairy before I vote to walk into a trap. How about a giant monster or three instead, guys?

[X] Hunt
[X] +0.5 Arete

Hm, we used Pressure to convince the Voyager's Realm to cough up a creature with healing abilities. Could we do something similar to get access to Scent again, then chain from there? With our build and need to track down AHS targets, it's really good, only lost because it was up against Rank.
