Quest to Become a Hero

We can use Dominate Writing for the Hand-axe and then practice using it and evasion in the training hall. The MC can take the Vicious Rabbits quest the next day. If he does well in it, then I'd feel a lot better about trying the Advancement Exam.
If we want to properly skin the Rabbits we kill on that Quest, then we can't use the Axe on them. We haven't had the opportunity to use the rudimentary club we made for ourselves, so we should probably practice with it as well (I also want to work out the Axe's stats to do a comparison to the Club's bedrock baseline of 3 Blunt Damage).

Unless we're willing to shell out the money for a mace or something from a shop just for gathering pelts, which is probably better spent on other stuff. Alternatively I have some ideas for some cheap upgrades we can make to the club ourselves that'll also get us more of an idea of how crafting works here. Stuff like wrapping one of our cloth rags around the handle for a rudimentary grip, or tying a stone to the head if we can get some cord or leather strips (along with a wrist loop).

I'm hoping that we can hit the rabbits with the broad side of the axe instead of the cutting edge to preserve the skins. I don't really want to split up the fighting skills too much because that makes it harder to get them all to a high level. If we end up ruining the skins, we at least get the meat and the bounty on each rabbit so it's not a total loss.

I'm also trying to figure out the logistics here. Theoretically, we could just use Dominate Writing to learn how to wield the hand-axe and then do the quest right now. The problem is that we don't have a skinning knife AND don't know how to skin animals.

We could practice wielding the hand-axe today and then use Dominate Writing to learn how to skin animals the next day right before doing the quest, but we should probably go ahead and research both topics today to save time. I'm not sure how much of the day is left, and the MC & his minion need to spend some time getting food to get rid of the Hungry malus.

If it gets too late, maybe we could research everything we're interested in today, train tomorrow, and then do the Vicious Rabbits quest on the third day. I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.

I forgot another aspect of the logistics-Money. The MC has 1 Silver and 33 Copper. He needs around 75 Copper for the skinning knife (depending on the current market price and his success at Haggling). The inn room generally costs 30-40 Copper. If the Guild doesn't offer an alternative for lodging, then we really need to do a quest by the next day.

Maybe today we research skinning animals and practice Evasion and then tomorrow try the Vicious Rabbits quest with the stave? I'd prefer to use the hand-axe, but it's apparently more difficult, and the MC hasn't actually fought anything before.

An Invitation of Sorts
[X] Ask if she was crying earlier.
[X] Question her about what happened.

You push down the fear and concerns inside of you, after all your soul is intact and the Heroic Spirit has strengthened your mind's defenses. Sitting up, you press your back against the wall and turn your head to the Dawn Elf with concern.

"You care to explain what exactly happened just now, Valencia? It seems to me that I deserve some answers considering I just came for a check-up only to have your God Tree suddenly crash into my soul like a troll into a wooden fort."

Your question only seems to push the Elven woman further as tears drip down her face, her hands clench the fabric of her dress even tighter, and her response comes out shakily.

"I... I am deeply sorry for what occurred, those capable of seeing my people's patron are almost always clergy of other Gods or strong enough on their own to witness the Divine. I did not think you were one of the few rare humans with an innate affinity to sense the supernatural.

You passed out while your soul was being repaired and I ended up moving you into that bed, was quite the challenge to do it alone."

She gives you a halfhearted smile, but you just furrow your brow in response.

"Why are you crying? It's not like you meant for any of this happen right?"

She shakes her head and stoops forward slightly before responding.

"I'm sorry, but I have taken a Vow, it's not something I can tell you. As a Dawn Priestess, breaking a Vow to the Divine Tree cuts off our access to It's power and without that power I couldn't heal all those who needed to be...

All I can tell you is that if you ever need it then you will always be welcome beneath the branches of the Forest of Light. It is a truly beautiful place, I do hope you see it someday, the way the Sun's light passes through the Guardian Trees' leaves is a sight beyond all else."

Towards the end she looks back up at you with a genuine smile on her face, your heart flutters a bit and you feel a gentle tug at your mind. However, you quickly notice the effect is far weaker than your last encounter. Apparently the Spirit's gift is truly effective at least.

They Who Seek the Crown (Level One, 14/25) - A title earned by gaining the blessing of the God of War in a chance encounter with his will. It is a boon granted to those who seek to become like Lords, towering above the world with every action and word capable of bringing great waves of change. Currently it is weak and only grants you the power of Domination, but if you grow stronger and perform in a way that meshes with this Boon then perhaps its strength can grow.

Heroes can be Thieves Right? - In the name of Heroism you stole classified information from the Church of War without being caught. Now no innocent souls shall be ended with this dangerous knife, but ... yours might be if you mess up? Slightly increased chance of learning stealth and thievery related skills until discovered, lost if the Sealed Scroll is destroyed.

Ethical Scholar - A scholar's duty is that of facts, numbers, honesty, and boundaries. You have a devotion to the work of the written word that few would follow in the face of potential benefits. You seek simply to perform your work to the best of your ability and stand within the morals of your scholar code, even find yourself compelled to do so. Established personal Scholarly Code, sticking to it makes your work easier and better while going against it more difficult and with worse results.
  • Scholar Code I - No work is better than hasty work. {Provides +2 to scholarly rolls when you take your time, take -2 to scholarly rolls when you attempt to work with haste.}
  • Scholar Code II - Provide the facts to those that hire you, nothing more and nothing less. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}
  • Scholar Code III - Judgement is the employer's job. {Provides 2 bonus experience when followed, lose 2 experience when ignored.}

We are hungry, so I think its best that we take care of that, then we can take our stealth class then finally do our advancement.

Since the Vicious Rabbit meat we have seems like it'll go bad before our Rabbit can eat all of it, is there anywhere we can grill up the rest of it and eat it ourselves so we don't have to buy lunch?

We have 2 pounds of meat that's going to go bad within a day, let's eat it instead of shelling out more of our limited money on other food.

I'm not sure if we have any herbalism knowledge, but it can't hurt. Maybe we could Identify some.

Are there any restaurants that will cook our meat for us, giving us a discount since we brought our own? I know of some seafood places that will cook your catch if you bring it in.
You could check, but the MC has never had to do such, the academy providing for all his meals when he was studying there.

Finding a stall, or pub that will cook for us can be a future thing.
