Drone Swarm in a Magical World (Riot Quest) ALWAYS RECRUITING

MUST...NOT...GIVE...SPOILERS...

I love discussing lore and being a QM makes that impossible, as I have access to lore that you just don't, and can't if I want this to be a fun game. It is remarkably difficult to not do that sometimes though.

For reference, I really want to explain how Oceans=Hell, but that would be spoilers for a few things. (I'm only willing to tell you that much because that's a super common piece of information that you are almost certain to stumble across at some point unless you specifically avoid it.)

So... you're saying that there are more biomes than we have discovered so far (for example: Ocean)? Neat! Then again both the forest and the swamp repelled us, so it's logical that we don't know what's on the other side of them. I am hoping on a desert, since mountains mean the rain shadow effect will be working and since we're clearly on the windward side (the fertile side), that means that the other side is the leeward side, thus the one with the desert.

So, the lifestream pours out into the ocean where the spirits of the damned roil in agony instead of the 'Heaven' within the planet! Neat.

Not to overly hassle people, but are any Scouts open to switching to Battery? Our scans suggest that information is low to the south, yet we have almost as Scouts as we have Cutters.

Kinda curious on what people think of the newest Drone, cause it looks like not a lot of people like it for now.
They cost materials and energy to deploy, so not many people want to grab one and be (partially) responsible for any deficits later.
For now we have two Canisters to act as an armed escort for all of our gatherers, we could probably support a few more but we don't want to go nuts and bolts with power.

I like the look of the canister but I'm pretty attached to being a cutter, so I'll upgrade when a cutter upgrade comes along.

You know what, I think I want to be a canister! Still want to go find me some seals though.

[X] {Riot} Canister Drone (Cost: 1 Material, 1 Energy)

[X] {Group} North (Unexplored)

For The Seals!

[X] {Riot} Battery Drone
[X] {Group} South (Unexplored)

Rather hesitant since the last time I downloaded to a battery drone, things didn't go so well, but we do still need energy, and it's not a bad place to get it.

Plus, more plasma is never a bad thing.

Canister drone is for protection; we don't know what's in the unknown areas, and we're getting low on minerals, so we should get more cutters or batteries.
Maybe when we decide to assault the forest or something we could bring more canisters!
@Hangwind will you keep track of how many canister drone chassis there are, so if people wanna switch, there would be "second-hand" chassis rather than making a new one each time?

MG-45: gliTcHiNg hell that smarts, *looks at the others* what is with this planet?! in one direction we have bio webbers and quadrupeds, in another sound blasting dead things! what other horrible thing is next. *sees new chassis, smiles and laughs* this will do

[x] {Riot} Canister Drone (Cost: 1 Material, 1 Energy)
[x] {Group} South (Unexplored)

make that three

Alright, update probably won't go up until Sunday, but until then, I want anybody that has anything they think I'm missing from the mechanics page or that wants their drone to have a permanent designation to tag me with that info. I will try to work your drone's "voice" into things, but I may not do it very well.
I'd assume the basic chassis are at least partially water-resistant, given how being soaked by mud / swamp water didn't break anybody.
Yes actually, they're pretty decently sealed. I wouldn't try going full submarine mind you, seals will leak, but brief forays into the water are fine. Well, barring anything in the water, of course.

Yup. To the north is grasslands, there are a few deserts scattered about, farmlands, real swamps with actual functioning ecosystems, rainforest, tundra, icepack, skylands, abyssal ways, the Plush and Sugar kingdoms (also known as "why sorcerer god children should be kept far from mortals"), Halfling hills...the possibilities are endless!

In lore? Yes. On paper? Hell no. Y'all come back with a drone that has a cost attached and I'll give you a rebate on the cost. I dead refuse to end up with the ship having a junkyard around it, or me stuck pouring through pages of notes to figure out if I need to charge you this time.

Eventually you are going to have a LOT of options for bodies, and I don't want to deal with all that noise.

Ah, Fay. Goodie. Fun land, here we come!

@Hangwind so I guess my drone will be PL-42. Adamant cutter drone, stubborn as hell, always looking for a fight. Getting marked by the unicorn is seen as a challenge for the future, and this unit will analyze combat data to prepare.
During downtime, I'll be devoting partial subroutines to enhance reflexes to better avoid getting shanked by a unicorn. Also, note to develop anti-charge mechanism or sloped armor to hopefully deflect piercing weapons.
Getting hammered by its comrade during the battle with skeletons most likely messed some circuitry up, and am now hostile towards native organics. Will cut enemies up upon majority (>50%) agreement from the swarm!

@Hangwind I shall be DE-01, an adaptable drone that prefers to Scout but will (reluctantly) be anything the swarm requires. I am probably best played as a logical, diligent "straight man" archetype who also maniacally adores this planet because NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN DATA is EXCITING DATA.

I'm probably the least violent drone in the mix; point me toward some vaguely organized-looking locals and I will probably try to communicate in drone charades in the hopes of a peaceful exchange of bountiful information, which trumps all priorities. :V Well, except defending my fellow drones. But I will be sad if we lose research opportunities because of an excess of "enthusiasm". :(

@Hangwind if we're giving perma drone designations I'll go with HA-26, a "science" drone with a preference for Battery chassis or long range combat chassis. Of the firm belief that the only thing better than science is SCIENCE!, the difference between the two is how much plasma you have to test a hypothesis.

Actually, no. A literal child god ended up having a natural talent for sorcery and teleported herself to mortal lands. One thing leads to another and suddenly a couple new races exist.

Incidentally? Plush births are a particularly traumatic thing.
Yeah let's develop some higher intensity plasma and flammable liquids for that place...

Yup. To the north is grasslands, there are a few desserts scattered about, farmlands, real swamps with actual functioning ecosystems, rainforest, tundra, icepack, skylands, abyssal ways, the Plush and Sugar kingdoms

'Plush and Sugar kingdoms'

Now I'm not certain if you made a typo with 'desserts' instead of 'deserts' as terrain types or not.

That was a typo. I was listing them in escalating levels of potential weirdness, deserts are actually pretty uniform, though they often have interesting locations inside them.

"There are the deserts, pretty self-explanatory. Those are the forests, containing magical creatures. That is the Kingdom of Doom, from which no soul escapes."
"...and there?"
"Oh, those are the desserts. Like deserts, but filled with sentient candy and stuffed animals whose lives are misery and torture. Dangerous place, avoid!"
