[X] Plan Longhouses, Mountain Men, and Goats

and I would love for them to think that the mountain folks are idoits...only for their plan to back-fire as the mountain men figure out the plot and then go on a war-path...of course them getting a elite commander who keeps on leveling harder then normal would be hilarious to read about as they try to figure out what the marker did...only for them to realize we took out one of the largest villages and are pissed at them for fucking us over.

The fact were letting them stew is them thinking they are about to get a barbarian invasion pretty soon because of how badly the loss of 2 plains villages would be for the local economy...and nega-Azel laughing in the background as he explains that if we hand not raided them they would be in a worse position...

so the nega-verse guys would be feeling...conflicted...plus knowing that were coming for them. And if we get the first Copper deposits? Oh boy, that's going to allow us to grow FAST! plus copper armor might not be great or as good weapons...but they would last allot longer then obsidian weapons and tools. Not to mention the fact that if we find tin deposits we would be in the position to become not only Dwarves, but also ruling the mountains. Then we can beat down anyone who tries to take the mines for the metal deposits as well as charging LUDICROUS prices for even a hint of metal to the plains-people.

I'm not sure copper armor is economical, it's a very soft metal and easily deformed. We might be better off with multiple layers of felt armor or even just well constructed leather.

I think the idea is that we use copper for jewelry more than anything else...if we find tin, gold, silver, use them for jewelry too. Then one day someone just has to get careless when making copper and tin jewelry and bang, we get bronze.*

*admittedly I know nothing about metallurgy.

Well first we would need to actually figure out copper from azurite. Which may well be fairly easy to do, we just have to wait until someone gives a fairly large azurite dye art piece in tribute to the ancestors at a particularly important festival (read, large and hot) fire. Boom, once we get around to clearing out the ashes the priests notice a lump of a particularly hard substance at the bottom of the fire, might take a while before they recognize the significance and source but that will likely be how we discover it.

Edit - which means getting a cultural vasilization and then annexation of the white clans near the deposit of copper in the mountains should be a priority if we want to start on more advanced metallurgy than sliver and gold.

Sounds good.
I wanted that +1 culture for a lucky event roll, but converting more mountain men to our culture is propably more important.

uhmm wouldn't it be a good idea to train some priests so that if our hero kicks the bucket we wont be without culture punching power?

The Speaker doesn't produce Culture, I don't think. And priests actually consume Culture, so I'm leery of training up any until we get more artisans.

The only thing I'm worried about is...does anyone know how food production works in this new system? Can anyone run the numbers and see if we need to train more farmers this turn?

Why not create a village upon the ruins of Lakefort to raid Bushcrest from? Use that production, to ease our food demands, remember, we only have two terms of food from heaven. We don't want to hit carrying capacity; hitting capacity is incredibly destabilizing to any society: dead babies, starving elders, rape, theft, a breakdown of order. We need to access more fertile lands ASAP!

We don't have the manpower. We need enough people to found that village and be able to defend it before we pursue this.

Bushcrest has been dealt a serious blow, we'll never have enough people to defend it unless we get more land for more food, its a chicken-egg problem, its just a calculated risk we have to take, why not now, after our victory?

It also costs three production to create a village with a palisade. I don't think creating a village without a palisade is a viable idea.

@Azel , how much food production would we have without the little help you are giving us because of the change in the system?

@Azel, if we ever get very, very lucky, can we breed War Goats? Not for riding. Just to be super aggressive and charge anything they're pointed at.
