Heh. I'm wondering what presentation of current events is coming out of Jiraiya's pen right now. Obviously not the truth except in the vaguest possible sense. This shit is going to be almost as tightly held as the possessor of the Fox. But portraying what it is acceptable to know in the most useful possible light is exactly the sort of thing the future propaganda king would be playing around with.

We need to polish up our hospital tour before the hospital gets blown up. I just know that fucker is on borrowed time. And next time things happen it might be a hell of a lot worse than just a missing eye.

Nanako, Eien, Jiraiya, and Asahi social actions failed last full turn, so they get a cool down period.

If we're going to fess up, it should be when we get a +10 to the roll. To be fair, it's not like Ayako having memories/voice in her head of a past life was actually relevant until now.

We succeeded with the little brother last turn, but with Mako in a coma...I'd prefer to spend some time with him. And with that +10 modification this turn that would at least take us past a crit-fail if we get a really terrible roll.

A turn with the bonus is also a good time to let Kagami wander around. I would have pushed for it either this turn or next since it's been a while, but with the bonus this turn...

It's light on training, but I felt the social options taken were important this turn. We did well with Hawks and teamwork lately, so didn't think that was necessary. The trainings chosen are ones that we haven't done so well with lately, but that bonus will certainly help.

The missions are simple ones that keep us in the village right now.

I'm going to leave this vote open, but take a break for a few days... All the writing I did over the weekend left me a little drained.

Whaaaaaaat? Naruto samurai use chakra. We don't know everything they can do with it because they get so little focus, but at a minimum they can infuse their weapons with chakra. And considering it would be horrifically expensive to outfit a samurai army with chakra conducting blades, one could argue that they're even better at that than shinobi, infusing chakra into non-conductive weapons.

Again, we probably don't know everything they can do with chakra... but they do use it.

Again, why? In open combat samurai actually have an advantage over ninja. They draw and attack faster, fouling hand seals.

There's no reason to believe they'd be less skilled in combat than ninja, and some reason they're actually better on average since so much of the samurai way is, you know, "swing sword at thing" and "shoot thing with bow" and "stab it with spear". And without hand seals to use their more powerful jujitsu, the ninja would be at a disadvantage from the start.

He's a genin in terms of Samurai skills, as said by his rank. As it says, he still has much to learn in terms of combat proficiency. If he were a jounin rank for samurai, he'd have a plus 10 against ninja.

That was supposed to be Daimyo... not samurai... my mistake.

The problem with samurai vs. ninja in the elemental countries isn't a matter of direct skill or power. It's crippling overspecialization. Samurai use a very limited array of techniques, compared to ninjas, and tend to be tactically and mobility challenged compared to a ninja of a similar level. Now within their limited array of techniques they do have more time to refine their skills which makes them very dangerous if they can get the chance to apply said techniques to a battle.

Against Samurai a ninja's best friends are surprise, misdirection, stealth, and abusing their wider selection of techniques and tools.

"Can we get trade rights with the Sea Country, the markets," Zanza said pointing a Kuni at the map.

"Sky and Moon have it locked down I'm afraid, and you know what they think of us."

Zanza then sighed. "Then we really are out of options...Fine, I shall lead the first squadron personally to assault the Land of Hills, that should buy us time to strike against other targets."

You nodded. "Have Second Squadron, hit the Land of Vegetables. And what of those damned Steam Ships I've been hearing so much about? Those imported engines better be worth it."

"The First gunboat is ready with the third squadron for its shakedown run. On the bright side more merchets are stopping in the village now."

You smiled. "We'll start tariffing, Is there anything else...I know there is more."

"The Termui clan is hoping to have finance for this idea they have...Ironclad ships." Zanza said handing a letter over.

Welp, I have just finished reading this entire thread and now wonder were things will go now. I envision it'll involve fire, lots and lots of fire. Perhaps of the power of the sun variety? Anyways, I recall one time reading a Naruto fic that's now actually finished and how the writer ended up having a small arc crossing over into the cannon timeline around the chunnin exams. The reason why being Minato's fault. (I think I got the right character)

Bring this up as I'm wondering how people from the cannon timeline would react if they

were to encounter at least the crusaders at some point? Possibly at the age they would be at in that time zone. If their all still alive at that point.

1. Kushina came to konoha before Uzushio got crunched.
2. Speaking of which if they're still around we either need to head that off or do a better job of rounding up the survivors than canon konoha.
3. Ok that's right ..... wait a minute how is our brother alive? I was rather given to understand that you needed a senju/uzumaki to seal the nine tails in.
4. Why did they seal Kurama in ... well a Kurama. Wouldn't one of the more resilient children have been better? I mean Tsunade should have been the ideal candidate of the people we know.
