[X]Stay: You are going to help Masamune, because that's what your being paid to do.
-[X]The Ninja Way: You are going to kill the Daimyo by way of trickery, subterfuge… and poison… Thankfully Tsunade has some poison on her.

The C-Rank Phoenix Rises Part 3
The C-Rank Phoenix Rises Part 3

Masamune was dressed for death. His armor on his body, his sword by his side, and his helmet resting on the stables. He had a plan, and you were going to follow it, for now at least.

He planned to battle his father while you take positions to manipulate the battle in his favor. A kunai here, a genjutsu that mismeasured distance there, a very quick heal when he is knocked down to the ground by you near the end. He planned on killing him quickly if he could and sorting out the political fallout later.

It was a good plan, one that did not involve you getting involved. That plan got Danzo approved, despite it's rather… simple approach to the problem that was the Fire Daimyo.

But simple meant there were fewer chances of it completely going to hell.

"Well my lord," Kojuro stated. "Shall we march towards victory?"

"We shall." He stated before looking to your team. "I'm sorry you had to get mixed up in all this political nonsense. Hopefully, I will be able to make it up to you and your village."

Danzo scowled. "I'm expecting an A-Rank payment, or your head will be the one I remove."

Masamune nodded. "I can arrange that… If I'm still alive when this is over."

"Confident isn't he?" Tsunade stated.

"Well, I do have some strong ninja at my back." Masamune stated, flashing a smile.

"Cute." Nanako stated.

Masamune put on his helmet and strapped it onto his head. It still jumbled and jiggled around as he moved his head.

You then began to walk towards the palace, walking together in a line. The guards and courtiers were flabbergasted that you were still here, and every time one of the guards looked like they were going to stop them, they were stopped by another person of the court, or another guard.

Blades were drawn, but the stalemate here was to even, a battle would only lead to a blood bath.

"Kojuro," Masamune said his retainers name. "Is my sword ready?"

"Yes Lord," Kojuro stated as the doors to the throne room became larger. "Though I must remind you of the danger of using this steel."

"I understand... this should be quick then." Masamune stated.

"Danzo… Are we just going to watch this?" You asked as you cast the genjutsu over everyone so they could speak.

"You know the plan." Danzo stated.

Tsunade sighed. "Why don't we use the bomb and blow this joint?"

"Because I'd rather not have you blow up my palace," Masamune stated. "I rather like this place, and I'd hate to see it destroyed."

Tsunade rolled her eyes.

The doors opened from the inside, pulling open so you could see the daimyo, clad in armor, with his sword resting on his lap. "So you came back? Have you come to beg for your life?"

"No," Masamune stated. "I am here to challenge you to a duel to the death."

"So you not only do you commit treason… you add regicide and kinslaying to that list of crimes against me… You expect me to just accept a duel against you, a child?" The daimyo asked.

"Yes. My father would never back down from a duel." There was a flinch, his hand started moving, twitching uncontrollably.

"FINE!" He screamed, drawing his blade, and storming forward.

Masamune stood still and tall, a grim look of determination on his face. "Just as I thought… you are not my father." He calmly drew his blade and stood ready, walking forward. "I need you ninja ready."

The first strike: 1D100 => 75+10 (Masamune's calm composure)+5 (Skill)=90 vs 1D100 => 7+40 (Skills from another life)+20=(Age and height advantage)=67

The two samurai met in the center of the throne room, their blades clashing. Sparks flew with the blades locked.

"Nanako!" Masamune's voice came through the genjutsu. "Start throwing caltraps onto the ground! I need you to limit his movement!"

Nanako's Set: 1D100 => 67

Nanako than sprung into action, she ran up a wall on her right and emptied a bag of caltrops on the ground behind the two men. Soon the ground beside them was littered with tiny steel spikes.

Nanako stayed on the wall, a kunai stabbed into the wall, her body hanging.

Contest of Blades:1D100 => 82+10 (Masamune's calm composure)+5 (Skill)=97 vs 1D100 => 7+40 (Skills from another life)+20=(Age and height advantage)=67

The Father and son broke their blade lock, pushing each other back to the edge of the makeshift arena that was created by the caltrops. But then the daimyo rushed forward, his blade being blocked by Masamune

"You really think you could beat me, boy!?" The daimyo stated as he continued to attack Masamune's defense. "Those little Crusaders had to blow me up to kill me! What chance do you think you have with that tiny razor?"

"Wait… That's impossible." Aka stated in your mind.

'What's going on? What is he talking about?' You asked Aka.

It was then you saw the Daimyo's armor crunch and expand, as his muscles seem to grow bigger beneath him. "That pesky little man was such a goddamn pain! He had no drive, no ambition! He locked me away in his mind thinking he could beat me with that pesky scientist in his head!?"

He then began to laugh. "I got my way with him… and that other pesky scientist. But I still feel them fighting back…" there was a pause, a moment of hesitation in his body composure. His blade dropped slightly, his helmet shattering apart to the ground as his head seemed to grow by way of chakra. "ARGH! NO!"

Masamune took it as his chance and charged forward.

"Ayako! Get to his head!" Aka stated. "I know how to stop him!"

Open Court: 1D100 => 13+10 (Masamune's calm composure)+5 (Skill)=28 vs1D100 => 50+40 (Skills from another life)+20=(Age and height advantage)=110
Wound Roll:1D100 => 68-5 (Helmet)=63
But than Masamune fell back, and screamed. "AHHHH!"
Masamune's helmet split in two and his face looked wards you. His left eye was split down the middle, blood and tears leaking down his eye.
The boy's blade dropped, clattering to the floor as his hands clutched his eye.
"My Lord!" Kojuro shouted, his blade already drawn, but he did not move forward, as you rushed in, jumping over the caltrops with ease, to the circle where Masamune and the Daimyo were.
With the Feeling:1D100 => 55+20 (Falling Leaf Style)=75 vs 1D100 => 4+40 (Skills from another life)+20=(Age and height advantage)=64
You than lept forward and clutched at the daimyo's head. Than Aka spoke. "Nathan it's me, Natasha… let us in."
And your world went black.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You awoke to a small garden, with a tea table and some pillows on the ground. There were two men sitting down, drinking tea. Both men were chained to the table.

One was pale, like someone from outside the elemental nations, with greyish white hair, and brown eyes. And the other looked exactly like the daimyo, only he looked a lot happier and less bulky.

"I told you our plan would work." The pale man stated.

"I didn't say it wouldn't have worked… but we took a very big risk. We must be quick before he has a chance to trap her here and we lose her too." The daimyo stated.

"We'll be dead soon, so don't worry about that." The pale man than looked at you. "Ah… so you are Natasha's reincarnation?"

"Natasha?" you asked.

"My name prior to my reincarnation with you," Aka stated. "I go by Aka now Nathan."

The pale man smiled. "I told you we would see each other again."

"I know… But how?"

"You think you were special when it came to reincarnation department?"Nathan asked, Which made the daimyo stare at him with anger. "Well, let's just say, life after death is a little… literal in our case."

"I still do not know how or why I was chosen to house a mind of a scientist?" The daimyo stated. "But we… did not choose to merge our memories together, it was too much for me to handle as a child… so he has been a guest in my mind for my life, giving me advice, helping me be a good ruler and a good man."

"What the hell happened?" You asked.

However, your question was ignored, as Aka spoke. "Did… they follow us here?"

Nathan and the Daimyo nodded. "It appears so," Nathan stated. "Sunrise did follow us here… and they've been working really hard to take this world over as well."

"What the hell is Sunrise and why should we be worried about them?" You asked.

"Sunrise was a group from our world… it was the group we destroyed to stop them from turning all of humanity into husks of cybernetics. 'We will rise out of the ashes as stronger humanity' They said… All it did was take away your soul and turn you into a slave. Their leader, if you could call it that, was an Artificial Intelligence called Phoenix, and his flawed mission was to save humanity from itself. Natasha and her Crusaders were prisoners, born to be nothing more than slaves to it, enforcers and spies if you will to root out dissenters. But the problem with humans, is we have a natural tendency to rebel once given another point of view. Especially when we're children." Nathan stated before he sighed. "It seems that Phoenix was not destroyed Natasha… only transported to this world when the portal's wave function collapsed."

There was a long pause from Nathan but he was not the next to speak. "It seems to have found a way to send souls of its servants into this world… somehow. We were caught off guard, and their agents took over my body for their purposes." The daimyo stated.

"Is it possible I can free you?" You asked.

"No… and even if there was, it would be temporary. I will not allow myself to be a slave to them anymore." The daimyo stated.

"What's their plan?" You asked.

"The standard villain fare, take over the world, enslave the populous, kill the disasters… that deal of crap." Nathan stated. "Unfortunately, to complete that goal, they need to kill the only group of people who could possibly resist them. The Shinobi and the chakra users."

That was not good. That meant genocide on a scale that hasn't been seen in this world. "Have they been manipulating the world for long?" You asked.

"Only a hundred years or so. Tobirama figured it out before he died I think… but I don't know." Nathan stated. "They want to make an empire on the continent so that the shinobi would be taken out of power. A land in peace is no good for a caste of warriors, and the shinobi will soon die out in a few generations if they succeed."

"Who were they planning on making emperor? I doubt there is anyone powerful enough to hold a continent together?" You asked.

"That's what Zetsu said… but he had some patsy name Madara playing to their tune. Poor man doesn't even know he's being manipulated."

Wait. "Madara Uchiha? He's alive… and being played like a fiddle?"

"I know… poor bastard." Nathan stated. "He thinks it's his plan to become emperor over the Elemental nations."

"He's the strongest shinobi alive! And he's being played like some third-grade chump!?" You shouted.

"Well, his opponent is a supercomputer with all knowledge of human behavior and manipulation. Plus, he isn't what we consider sane right now." Nathan replied. Nathan then pulled out a pocket watch. "It seems we're out of time." He then looked to you and Aka. "So… another group of Crusaders who can save the world have risen again?" He whispered.

"I think their better than we were," Aka stated. "Far better then we were."

Nathan smiled. "Good… Now get out of here. Before we lose our head."

The world then went black.

And you awoke to Danzo removing the Daimyo's head.

AN: Bet you didn't see that coming. The next omake will come tonight.

Yeah no I wasn't expecting the scroll was backstory info dump.

Is Sunrise, Kaguya or the Ootsuki's by another name or is there a bit of a gambit pile up here?
Let's just say that that Sunrise has similar goals with Kaguya, in that they want to enslave humanity under one super powerful being, and they may be working together to do that.

One just wants to be under an A.I from another world, while the other from a celestial goddess.

The Ootsuki's won't really care unless Kaguya is let out, so their staying out of it.

Wait their goal is that humanity should be enslaved and not that they should enslave humanity? Meaning that they're both happy with being enslaved as long as humanity is. Or that they both intend to be the master, but they're happy working together knowing that they'll eventually betray each other.

They are working together, planning to betray each other later, when they have the power to do so.

Edit: Both don't have much power at the moment, at least to operate more openly.

Sigh@Genocidal AI Plot.

Where are the good guy AI?

Yes, that was my complaint. Genocidal AI plots are okay, tropes are not bad. I'm just tired of the all powerful AI being villains all the time.

Well, that or Culture ships, I guess.

Well I just wanted an AI as my villain. What did you expect me to throw in an immortal who wants to rule the world through some kind of bullshit?

Oh wait, that's Madara.

Leaves in the Storm
Leaves in the Storm

(Mako POV)

You took a few deep breaths and looked at your team. "Finally, a nice simple D-Rank of shuffling the Hokage's paperwork."

Sakumo sighed. "I thought we were cleaning a training ground?"

You frowned. "Plans change kids."

"Aww." Kei groaned. "I wanted to try and see how many genin teams use training ground 21 on a daily basis."

"Six," Minako stated. "There are blackboards that have a schedule of when the teams use the training grounds."

You sighed. It was going to be a long day. "Alright, let's just get down to the Hokage's tower so we can be his gophers for the day."

You all walked down the village's main street, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Sakumo was at your back, watching for any threat that may come behind you. Kei was relaxing, greeting everyone he walked past him that looked at him, and Minako was picking up trash.

It seems the litter patrol of the D-ranks had not come for the Lunch rush yet., making poor Minako have to clean it all up… again.

"Hey lady! I already paid!" A man shouted as you passed one of the food stands.

You glanced over to the man to notice he was not from around here. From the large coat that covered much of his body to his boots going up half his legs and his bleach blond hair going down his neck. The sword was something that was cause for concern, but he was not trying to draw it, so you approached him.

"I already paid lady." The man repeated.

"No, you took money that was on the counter and put it on your tab." The owner stated.

"What's going on here?" You said, getting both their attention. You were no Uchiha policewoman, but you were pretty sure you could break up an argument.

"This lovely lady thinks I stiffed her." The man stated.

"And I'm being cheated." The owner stated.

You looked at both of them and sighed. Nevermind, you were no policewoman. You turned towards the man. "Just pay her. Or I'm impounding that sword."

The man sighed, before throwing over a stack of bills. "Fine. Have a good day."

The man then walked away. "Thanks." The owner said.

"Welcome." You replied. "Who was that guy?"

"Some wandering swordsmen. Don't know much about him. All I know is that he's stingy with his money and thinks other people can pay for it." The owner stated.

"So some noblemen?" You asked.

"Probably." The owner said. "Take care."

"You too." You replied.

You walked back to see your team waiting for you. "What was that about?" Sakumo asked.

"Oh, just a rowdy customer." You replied.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The paperwork was hellish. Who in their right mind would sort everything alphabetically, when it should be sorted by rank? It would make things so much easier on Hiruzen. Maybe you should just tell him about doing that instead of the way he normally does it.

"Man, this sucks." Kei groaned.

"Suck it up Kei, we've got another two hours of sorting." Sakumo replied.

"Hey Sensei! Is it possible we can just burn all this crap… I would save us a lot of time!" Kei asked.

"No, these are important documents of state, we can't just burn because we don't feel like doing them."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile with Hiruzen.

"ACHOO!" He sneezed.

"Sensei, are you alright?" Yoshi asked as he put down his trophy.

"I think someone has discovered my secret to defeating paperwork… We must run with haste!" He ordered.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Anyone see Minako?" You asked. You had lost track of your third student when you were sorting the paperwork by rank. It now looked manageable and neat at the same time.

"I think she went to the bathroom," Sakumo replied as he looked at one of the many pieces of paperwork. "Is that a messenger hawk?

"Huh?" You looked at Sakumo and saw there was indeed a messenger hawk on the perch. It's message holster empty.

"Kei please get that so we could-"

"What the hell!" Kei shouted as he stepped back.

And in the hawks container, was an explosive tag.

Someone was taking the line "Kill the Hokage with paperwork" to the logical extreme.

"Everyone out of the office." You ordered, but no one moved as you saw Minako.

Minako was holding onto a metal ball. The Forbidden scroll on her back. "Minako we need to leave." You said, glaring at the ball with caution. "We've got explosives in here."

But Minako's eyes were blank, emotionless and clear. She said nothing, but she pulled the pin on the ball and threw it out of the office.

You sprung into actions, the second metal piece hitting the ground, trying to catch the metal ball.

But Kei beat you to it, snatching it out of the air and hitting the desk, curling up into a ball, before rolling behind it.

The explosion knocked you and Sakumo back against the wall, a piece of the desk finding its way into your torso.

The world was cold, and the only thing on your mind was of Shiro, Keizo, and Ayako.

Before everything went dark, you heard Minako's voice. "I was right, she is the one we need."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Death did not come for you, at least not yet. The piece of wood in your side hurt, and you had lost blood, a lot of blood, but you were still alive. You're battered, dare say broken body was being dragged by your student.

Your traitorous student.

You were on the outskirts of Konoha, you knew that much from the trees and grass you now felt. But it was so cold, and you were so weak.

But then you were dropped. "It was so easy to make the whole village panic with a few explosive tags in the trash and dumpsters… But how was I supposed to know that you would piece it together so quickly Adam."

You turned your head to see the same man you saw earlier, his sword now drawn, with Sakumo in tow. The White Chakra Saber gleaming bright in the sunlight.

"You don't have to fight for them Minako." The man stated. "You owe them nothing."

"You are wrong, I owe them everything for saving my life. It's you who don't understand that. They can make the world better." Minako stated.

"And are you really willing to pay the price that is needed for that to come to pass?" The man stated. "Even risk the child in your arms?"

You felt your hands grip something cold and metallic. "If she lets go… she dies."

"But you can't pull the pin with setting him down." The voice said.

"Your right." You heard a child cry, and the pin being pulled.

"If you want to save her, you better be quick. The second piece of metal hit the ground.

There was movement, but the ball was out of your hand and flying far away. The explosion hurt your ears.

"Is Shiro Okay?" the man asked.

"He's okay!" Sakumo replied. "I'm going after her."

"Let her go Sakumo. Your teacher needs help."The man sighed.

Sakumo reluctantly agreed and your world went dark.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You came too in a hospital room. The man who saved you was standing by the window, with Sakumo was sitting by your side.

The man smiled. "Hello, Mako Kuruma… We have a lot to talk about."

"Who are you?" You croaked.

"My names Adam… and I need your help. The entire world is in danger."

BTW, just want to point out that the "Forbidden Scroll" is pretty much a big scroll of nothing but semi common techniques like the shadow clone.

The actual forbidden scroll is not even in the village and is kept in a space time blood seal vault that only the current hokage can open. If anyone but the hokage tries it they pretty much burst like a grape.

The scroll is nothing more than a big diversionary tactic to draw in people who want to steal the techniques and act as bait.

Was gonna say that, but I got Imp'd. Thanks for pointing that out.

Probably explains why a borderline suicide jutsu is written on the one naruto grabbed in the first episode, it's a trap that's supposed to kill you.

Yup, on the dot. The forbidden scroll is a huge red herring meant to draw out infiltrators and to act as a massive trap for any who try. Not to mention all the techniques are semi common anyway

I know, but Minako didn't know that. She was blinded by shinies (I mean, who wouldn't), committing an act of sabotage and trying to commit kidnapping to really check if she had grabbed the right thing.

Technically the two scrolls are physically perfect copies of each other. Unless you know the techniques within the ACTUAL scroll or recognize the techniques in the fake you'll never know the difference.
