[jk] Save us obi-wan Kenobi Madara Uchiha, you're our only hope

We can probably pull through, but the guardian ninja probably have to be personally loyal to the this guy and the ones that aren't needed to be taken care of.

They exist to both protect him, and remind him that Konoha can kill him whenever it wants

Alright. Melodramatic sociopath in the driver's seat, one with decent sources on the inside of Konoha to know exactly how fucked Danzo is politically right now. I like to think that Danzo actually did have plans to off him and use his son (possibly shelved due to closing Root) and the guy only thinks he is spouting bullshit, but who knows
Yep. And oh do I have plans. Plans within plans, and a whole lot of curveballs ready to throw at you.
No love for his progeny. His progeny is actually plotting against him, and has a 'friend', and while they he is confident he can have them easily killed, he thinks they could at least cause minor complications if he doesn't go that far. He is egotistical though and that tilts things.
Who said it was the actual daimyo and he is not say, pulling an orochimaru and wearing someone else's skin.
If I was Hiruzen when he actually figures out what is going on, barring a sudden entry of Madara, I'd be asking if any other Daimyo need a Village and a shitton of associated land. Bidding wars commence.
Whose to say the others aren't in on it?
We can probably go through walls. Rather than make illusions reality, make reality illusion. But I wouldn't want to try to take another human being through with us. Their flesh would probably go the same way as wooden walls.
Impossible. Our powers only work one way, and that's making illusions reality.
Frankly I don't see how this comes to pass in the first place unless there is some crazy fucking genjutsu involved
Or someone is wearing Someone else's skin.

Which is why only one is there, the loyal one... the others are gone.

Ninja'd by the author, but I'm still going to leave it.

The tea that was served was bitter and poorly made. Whoever made it needed to get fired for doing such a terrible job.

"I hope you like my tea Danzo?" The Daimyo stated. "I grew the tea leaves myself."

You sighed, great, now you cannot complain about the Tea, except not drink any more of it. "Terumune, I'm not here to critique your terrible tea."
He can't complain about the tea, and then he complains about the tea. Or, well, if he does complain about the tea the Daimyo scores a point in the social exchange. Danzo, being a brusk and oft pragmatic fellow, would rather swallow the on-paper loss than swallow any more in-the-cup tea.

The Daimyo did his homework and picked a poison that Danzo wouldn't identify. He was probably quite honest about growing it himself, probably having a private greenhouse in which he could cultivate something completely foreign to the Elemental Countries as a whole. Zetsu might have given him a sprig of something engineered, actually.

I'll reiterate that this fellow likes to brag. He needs to reinforce, again and again, that he is the hottest stuff and that he is sly enough to tell you to your face and get away with it. He takes risks. He has to to validate his own self worth whenever he looks into a mirror.

I think Danzo might be having some mental effects of the drug even in this early scene.

But he could have brewed better tea. He could have, but he didn't. Either he had to do every step himself for the sake of secrecy, and just sucks at tea... or he wants to give the other guy a chance. A small one, but he wants the risk. That little uncertainty that makes him feel great when it pays off.
There was a laugh. "I know… it's rather unfortunate that you are here alone instead of with your old team. We had some fun together." Terumune than handed over a small photo. It was black and white, with Terumune standing above Danzo and his team, next to Tobirama. Both daimyo and your team were in battle gear, and each was covered in scratches, cracks, and blood. Although the scarring of battle was far more noticeable on your team. "Tobirama's lessons saved my life."

You sighed. "You had plenty of skill on your own. Fighting us just proved it." The photo reminded you of the good old days. It was a painful memory, but a cherished one, that you hoped would repeat. "I believe you wanted all of us to become part of the Twelve Guardians after that day."
More bragging. He has to wave around photographic evidence that he beat Danzo and Hiruzen's ass. 'Fighting us just proved it' suggests that things were complicated as fuck. Probably a lot of posturing between the forces of the lord and the forces of the fire shadow, trying to draw and push boundaries. Hell, it might not even have been just particularly bloody sparring.

The Twelve Guardians already existed before Konoha was founded. Privately hired during the time of the clans. Hell, the Seven Swordsmen probably had identical origins.

So... the elder of the Twelve Guardians are not and never were Konoha-nin at all. Which explains why they are so distant from Konoha even when canon rolls around. This will be useful knowledge.
"I understand…" His face, however, showed hurt, like he was expecting a different answer. "an all Kunoichi force… I'm surprised that you did not complain about it." Terumune replied.
Extremely dismissive of women. Twice now we've seen that here. Also useful. The hurt here, though, might not be feigned. He desires acknowledgement.
"Because… The heiress of the Senju clan, the Kuruma brat, and that civilian girl will be perfect hostages and the leverage I need to… coerce the other Daymio into acting."
Hostages isn't the right word. I mean... it would be a viable public display, though I doubt most Daimyo would care. Most of those bastards would look at the Uchiha Massacre and shrug. I'm not sure what his logic process is here.

(FYI: Spellcheck wants me to write 'Chihuahua Massacre'.)
"Because I want to be remembered forever… and the only way I can see that happening is from the destruction of the Shinobi." Terumune stated. He then dropped you onto the floor. "Seal his limbs and send him to the dungeon. I want his confession to be given before Hiruzen gets back from Iwa. And find his students and kill them… And if the boy and his friend try to stop you from killing them, kill them as well."
Valid to a degree. The Shinobi are in ascendance and the landholders probably can see how this is going to mean the end of their legend, even if their actual prosperity and holding size increases. But we aren't really seeing the 'how' yet. Yet.
Or someone is wearing Someone else's skin.
Point. Very much a point. The man is having one hell of a set of issues though considering the subtext going around. He really, really wants to posture and there is nothing dispassionate and third party here. If its not him, then he is projecting hard.

Kunai isn't aerodynamic so they will not fly in a straight line like in the show, they are primarily melee weapons. You can throw them like a you throw a knife but you aren't going to use knives as ammo when crossbows and arrows are cheaper, more accurate, and, with different arrowheads, more deadly than a kunai. Repeating Crossbows like the ones made by China is much more realistic than Kunai Launchers.

[X]His room: His room is fit for a prince… why is he pulling out a detailed schematics of the palace?

Prepare for bugout.
Also blame Danzo

[X]The Training Ground: The Twelve Ninja Guardian training ground is open, and Masamune wants to spar with you all with his friends. His father does not know about it, of course, so he asks you all to keep jutsu to a minimum.

If the daimyo has set his goons on us we're going to need some maps. Last thing we need is to be surprised a secret door taking one of our teammates.

The C-Rank: The Phoenix Rising Part 2
The C-Rank: The Phoenix Rising Part 2

Masamune led you and your team through the winding corners of the palace. The wooden fortress was massive, and as you were led through it, the courtiers bowed as he walked past them. As you trailed behind, their looks went from respect to disdain.

'The tree huggers are here' was just one of the many insults that you heard thrown your way.

Tsunade tried her best to ignore it but shot glares back at them. Nanako just kept a hand on Tsunade's shoulder, to keep her from moving away, while you stayed by Masamune's side.

None of the courtiers were a threat, but you were just staying safe and putting your body between him and everyone else.

The sleeping mat was against the wall, with large dressers dotting around the room. A bookshelf and desk were also there, resting by a window that overlooked the city.

"Shut the door." Masamune ordered as he lifted up his sleeping mat.

"What the hell is going on?" Tsunade asked as you shut the door.

"Can you talk without speaking?" Masamune asked as he pulled up a large scroll. He then opened it up and revealed it was a … very detailed schematics of the palace complex.

You cast your genjutsu over everyone. "Yes, we can." You replied with a smile.

Masamune looked very frightened at hearing your voice, but he recomposed himself surprisingly well for a civilian. Far better than a normal civilian, but you had to guess that he was not a normal civilian.

"Good," Masamune stated. He then took a deep breath. "I need your help."

"Obviously." Tsunade stated.

"If your mad about the comment I made about you and your friends, please know that I made that comment to throw off the bastard." Masamune stated.

"And why should we believe that?" Nanako replied.

"Because the man you met is not my father… at least not my truly my father." Masamune stated.

That made you raise an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"My father is dead," Masamune stated. He then tapped the schematics and rolled up them up, Tieing them up and putting it on his back with his boken. "And I need your help before whoever is wearing his skin destroys everything in the Land of Fire."

"This has gone over all the mission parameters," Nanako stated. "We need to bug out and get Danzo Sensei."

Masamune sighed. "You'll never get out of the place without help. We've been followed by the basterds men since you arrive." He then walked over to one of the dressers, and slide it over. There was a pole attached to a large hole in the palace's wall. It went down pretty far. "This will take us all the way down to the stables."

There was a banging on the door. "Masamune! Are you in there?" A guard shouted.

There was silence, as everyone stays still, and you quietly cast a genjutsu.

Genjutsu: 1D100 => 86+20 (They're civilians)=106 vs1D100 => 35-10 (Their civilians)=25

"There not here!" The guard stated.

Your heart was not racing, it was calm… something you were extremely proud of.

"GO!" Masamune stated, sliding down the pole as the guards got away.

Quickly, you and your team slide down a pole.

"Gonna be a tight fit until I open the roof." Masamune stated.

And you figured that out when you landed on top of Tsunade and Nanako.

"Ow… Ayako. Get off." Tsunade groaned.

"I know. Get off us Ayako" Nanako stated.

Then there was light, and then you fell some more, landing in a huge pile of hay.

"Sorry about that," Masamune stated. "Kojuro, is Danzo alright?"

Danzo situation: 1D100 => 70

"He's fine." The other voice stated. "The sake should help dilute the poison. The dose was too small for any lasting damage to his chakra coils. He should regain consciousness in a few minutes."

You turned to see Danzo leaned against one of the stables, and a man with a long green coat, glasses and a flute on his side. The sword was resting against the stable walls. And by the ground, there was a small set of samurai armor. Fit for Masamune. "The armor as you requested lord."

"Thank you Kojuro," he stated. Masamune turned to you. "You are correct, what I hired you for was to protect me until I can kill the man. In a sense, you have already completed that mission. I would not blame you for taking your leave here… But I must ask you to stay."

"And why the hell should we?" Tsunade stated.

"Because I need a good second, and Kojuro is too valuable to me for after this to die. Good advisors and good friends who are loyal to me are hard to come by these days." Masamune stated. "And to be honest, I need a ninja's skillset, not a samurai's."

Than Danzo's eyes fluttered open. "Ack." he then coughed out blood. "How?"

"I took the liberty of springing you out of the dungeons," Kojuro stated. "It's amazing how everyone forgets the history of this family. The daimyo's family members who wanted to get away from the court life were thrown in the dungeon, but they could escape it if they knew how to. I don't blame them of course, but they showed their cowardness by not staying."

Danzo looked at you. "The scroll is safe?"

You nodded.

"Good," Danzo stated. "That's a Phoenix bomb."

That made you tilt your head in confusion. Nanako however, stepped back in horror. "You brought a Phoenix bomb?! You know how powerful those are?"

Danzo showed no emotion. "I helped Mito create them."

Tsunade than asked. "What's a Phoenix bomb?"

Danzo tried to move but could not. "That bomb is powerful enough to bring down the palace. I developed it with Mito when I was young so that I had a tool for taking down bandit fortifications whenever I was on a solo mission. It's a building buster… most of the time Konoha uses it for construction when we do not want to risk a fire breaking out."

"Why did we bring one… and why did you give it to Ayako?" Nanako asked.

"It was the backup plan. I was planning on killing the Daimyo if he was not going honor his…" He stopped before shaking his head as if he remembered who he was talking too. "Sorry, S-rank secret."

Ah, and you wanted all the juicy details. "So what do we do?" You asked.

"I'm going to challenge the man who is using my father's body as a puppet. Or skin, or whatever." Masamune stated.

What do you do:
[]Stay: You are going to help Masamune, because that's what your being paid to do.

[]Go: You have been lied to, and nearly killed by this kid. Plus, Danzo might need help. Hopefully he won;t mind if you steal his horses (Mission ends in failure)

If You stay, what do you do?
[]Game of Death: Masamune is going to challenge his father… What the hell is he thinking? He'll die unless… what game is he playing?

[]The Ninja Way: You are going to kill the Daimyo by way of trickery, subterfuge… and poison… Thankfully Tsunade has some poison on her.

[]Bomb threat: Sometimes, you have to use trickery to get someone to break down and confess their wrongdoing.

[]Blow some shit up!: You've got a bomb… time to make use of it by bringing this bitch down.

[]Write in

AN: Enjoy.

--[X] Masamune clearly has some idea of a plan, listen to it and see where we can make the most use of our ninja skillsets. Probably by poisoning the Daimyo or genjutsu shenanigans. The goal is to cheat hard enough that Masamune has the highest possible chance of victory.

Rather than the mission or the pay, I'm voting for getting an 'in' with the next Daimyo. That's gonna be worth a lot to the village.

Let's see how far this goes.

...shit is Madara playing Daimyo? That's gonna complicate things.

Worst comes to worst we blow up the palace and unleash the beast. Shouldn't be too hard compared to the children's crusade

This is going to be the day we get to see what happens if you cast a genjutsu telling a man that his blood is actually made out of angry centipedes.

We were hired to protect this kid so protect him we shall. Considering his apparent skill with planning ahead, I say we give him a chance here.
