A true hero... in training (Pokemon Gym Leader's apprentice quest)

We clearly need to make sure Maelstrom is better at fighting. Sure, he won a 1V1 against another Magikarp, but i'm guessing a basic anything could down him in no time.

As much as EXP and loot calls to me, our Pokemon are still firmly n00b level. We have two Pokemon, one of which is a Magikarp and the other of which we haven't even trained with yet.

I just feel like looking for weaklings to battle for EXP and Money is going to fail because right now, we're, like, the archetypical Junior Trainer that gets beaten to show how strong the MC is.

Remember, the average level of Trainers in Sinnoh have C-Rank Pokemon.

Fang we understand a bit, but we need to spend more times about Maelstrom. And since it needs training to be just average, we cannot spare many occasion to do just that. Fang is good to go for now, we need to bring little Karp up a bit still.

We can talk with Lily and Violet during our travels as much as we would ever want. Training however can only be done at safe locations like this campsite. Battling might turn out okay, but I think we have done so little training with our mon that training would be more beneficial at this point. Also, the money point is pretty moot. Either the bets are so low that it doesn't really matter, or the bets are high enough that Haru shouldn't go gambling those kinds of sums with beginner's mon.
