We could always write the Quibbler instead. Luna's a year below us, we'd know about her and her dad right?

No one would take it seriously but we'd get published at least.

P.S. we don't even have to call her out, just be very specific about the dates and let someone else out it together.

But on the other hand fuck Rita, we have actual data that proves she is full of shit while she does not have proof of the contrary, we could probably just ask a teacher and they will provide proof against her, I severely doubt that a teacher will let someone use the death of one of their students for the sake of fame.
 
How about we just write an anonymous letter describing the mechanics by which Mary-Anne appears?

We don't even have to point out Rita's lie, since other reporters will do that on their own.

Truth without fame is a pretty good contrast to that girl.
 
Who cares? Shitty news articles and profiteering are a dime a dozen, what purpose is there to calling this one out?

Data does not help in the court of opinion otherwise Brexit and trump would not have happen. Rita is a master of spin and well if not for being blackmailed by Hermione would have done anything of merit in the books. Jacob the boy who seems to have some form of autism would not win against Rita. Look at cannon Harry was a well liked guy and half the time his fellows students were against him.

Then we can ask a teacher for help, as I have mentioned before, they are likely the people who are the angriest about people profieteering off of lying about a dead student. Though they might be too busy or already looking into doing so, though Dumbledore's absence is a bit annoying since he has the influence to call out Rita, the motivation to do so and has easy access to proof.

Considering that all the students are teens and pre-teens they really should not reflect greater society, but this is the wizarding world so you might be right.

I've been convinced to let Rita be for now. It might be more impactful later on anyway.
 
Someone who could be greatly helpful if you guys want to expose Rita's lies would be Professor Sprout as she would have been exposed greatly to Sally Anne's magic as both teacher and head of Hufflepuff and would also care for and been in charge of the primary students who interacted with her.

I can't remotely see her being happy about this if we tell her, and honestly, it seems like a scene that would be very interestibg for the author to write and for us to read given Sprouts role here. After all I wouldn't be remotely surprised given she choose to be a teacher, and was Head of Hufflepuff, that she feels a great amount of guilt.

Just thought to mention it too as no one has it their plans, I believe the first quidditch game in PoA was the one where Dementors invade the pitch? So we should know OOC that it's not just a go watch quidditch action.
 
Pretty sure this is the quidditch game that Dementors ruin, but I'm also pretty sure that nothing important for us happens during it.

Really, nothing important happens during them for normal people. And it's perfectly understandable for a Ravenclaw to not go to them

One of the biggest struggles that I have with Rowling's work. Some of the pricing makes no sense and I am trying to make a coherent world out as we go to make this playable for you. But look at these prices that we got from canon:

  • Harry buys a bunch of candy off the train trolley in the first book, that costs 11 sickles and 7 knuts.
  • A ride on the Knight Bus: 11 sickles
  • One hot chocolate: 2 sickles
  • A water bottle and toothbrush: 2 sickles
  • One Butterbeer: 2 sickles
  • Advanced Potion Making textbook: 9 galleons

If you take into account that JKR said that one Galleon was equal to 5 USD, then you get the problem that either nothing makes sense or that the price relations are simply different than that of our world. My understanding of it. I might have to do some research at DLP to see if I can get a system working.

No, you'll go there without the need to plan for it. But you will have to do some training if you want to keep up. Dueling spells are a must have.

Why not learn Protego instead of one of those two? It gives us a nice bonus on defence rolls and would help with dueling.

Hopefully case 2 doesn't lead to us somehow banishing another ghost and creating a new job opening at the school! :V I expect re-killing a teacher might tick a few points off the ol' Ravenclaw house counter.
