Quest to Become a Hero

Another Book Done, a Copied Paper, and a Hungry Rabbit
[X] Continue reading your current books.
-[X] Afterwards, make a Copy of a useful section of the Haggling Guide to Dominate.

You take a moment to continue massaging your temples before opening the final book you've picked out, while you find the information a lot to process you still cannot suppress your scholarly tendencies. Last on the list is the book titled 'Properly Utilizing the Guild Card for Matters of Trade' which is certainly an odd title, but then again you've witnessed some rather fantastical aspects to the Card.

---

'Many Adventurers will fail to notice, or discovery some of the most fascinating and useful aspects of the Guild Card we were given when we enrolled even well into past Iron Rank. Of course, I am only here to describe one aspect of the Card in particular, the Guild Trade Adviser. Simply put if an Adventurer holds their Card in hand and says "Trade Menu" an interface similar to the Guild Stores and many other facilities will appear in front of them.

This menu plays host to two very important functions. The first of them is the Market Value Listings which shows the current market values of a variety of items, materials, herbs, and the like for your region (if a Town Level Guild is functioning there) allowing you to get an accurate judgement of the pricing in your area.

Second, and perhaps most important, is the Guild Trade Hall menu where Adventurers can put items, materials, and more up for sale and other members of the Guild can then purchase them. Any purchases will be shipped to the nearest Guild Hall from where you order the item, and any sells will require you to give the item to the Guild until it is sold or your listing runs out.

While most would think that is the end of things I will now proceed to explain some excellent uses for the Market Value Listings allowing an Adventurer to sell their goods at the highest prices...

---

The book then carries on to explain some simple applications of mathematics and travel between nearby regions to deposit large quantities of materials for the best price, or to sell high-value items at appropriate prices. You absorb all of the information within with a renewed sense of relish and are greatly saddened when the book comes to an end, but then again there is an entire library of information here to access.

With that done you pull out another scrap sheet of paper and proceed to copy a relevant section from the book on haggling that seems fit to use Dominate Writing on. Once complete you stuff the page in your bag stretch out, your back popping in a satisfying manner before you realize you can feel the sensation of hunger coming from your minion. Might want to deal with that though now that you think about it you could probably do with something to eat yourself.

We're probably going to see the other shops before the end of the day, at least the Smithy afterwards to look at armor options. So may as well get our Haggling boost for all of our shopping. I don't think we'll need to buy healing from the Apothecary just for our current bruises, we can just let that heal naturally overnight, we need to toughen up (saving healing items for later serious injuries is another matter).

I'm fine with this.

Also, the guild seems to be super magical for some reason. Like, they use magic for pretty much everything. Why? Shouldn't magic on that grand a scale be more draining than just hiring workers? And who's running it? Is there some kind of wizard(s) locked in a chamber who just maintain this day in and day out? Did the guild find a way to piggyback off of the System that everyone falls under? Are we eventually going to come face to face with someone who managed to hack/subvert/piggyback/otherwise use the System not as intended.

I wouldn't mind using the dominated writing at actually go out and practice haggling at the market or via the Guild card as the book recommended. It's a good way for xp, to learn about how trades work, and could be valuable for contacts.

You decide it's best to get your pet fed before it tries anything like eating the floor, or the next person to come to the Library (a possibility you know would never work considering your control over the creature). It's quite amusing to see such a bloodthirsty creature begin hoping around you out of joy when you leave the Library, perhaps it understands you are going to get food for it? Regardless you quickly head out of the Guild towards Market street in search of a butcher, a rather short search as it turns out since about six of them are open just at the street entrance alone.

You choose one at random and walk inside, a burly human working at hacking what looks like a wolf's corpse into pieces on the counter while strands of all sorts of meat hang all around the shop. In the center are several large displays, blue gems covered in strange symbols embedded at the top of the glass while flakes of frost cover the corners of the cases.

The store's owner simply tells you to come to him with anything you want before going back to work, leaving you to follow your pet's whim hoping she'll notice something she wants to eat. In a few short moments the rabbit begins to walk over and sniff several different displays, or strands of sausages hanging from the walls until she begins to focus in on three in particular.

Which do you buy, if any?
[] Forest
Bear Meat - 1 silver for 3 pounds.
[] Vicious Rabbit Meat - 30 copper for 5 pounds.
[] Ironhide Boar Sausages - 80 copper for a pound.
[] Write-in.
[] None of these!
