Jiraiya has to be acquiring some decent publicity and street cred through his writings at this point. In this continuity he isn't going to be the guy who wrote one novel nobody ever bothered to read and then a line of high quality erotic literature. He is going to be the world's finest propagandist, spokesman, and possibly newspaper mogul. Who also maybe publishes porn and beats S-rank murderhobos like rugs during spring cleaning.

Konoha and the world might need that more than they need a spymaster.

I wonder if Beast has a Murphy's Law button he is just hammering on inside our noggin. Its not actually outside of his powerset...

[X]Lord Hokage: Why is he here? And why did he bring ANBU with him?

If its going to happen, I just like the idea of the protagonist realizing shit is going down. I don't expect this is anything anywhere near our weightclass but we are still ALL in survival mode, even those of us who don't look like it.

If we are going to have PTSD, it may as well pay dividends.

Don't worry about the spymaster job... Orochimaru's got that covered. Soon all of our minions will take over the keypoints of infrastructure of the village and we shall rule Konoha with an iron fist.:V

Also, he's got to get to the point of being able to beat up High bounty murderhobo's, but early days.

More like all the family's personalities have had a staff meeting and are trying their best to stop chaos:V

I think its going down either way its just whether the Hokage chooses to do it on our birthday or not interrupt an important/symbolic day. Or he is litteraly just showing up with presents and the ANBU('s) are his bodyguard that should probably be with him at all times.

Orochimaru gets to be the spymaster and overall Lavrentiy Beria for the Village, Jiraya gets to handle the manipulation and diplomacy angle... so I guess that Tsunade is the mad scientist this time around? That is a terrifying thought.

I don't actually think we'd end up leading the conspiracy. We might be a choreographer but chances are we'd go along with the whims of our brothers in their own fields even if we have a personal distaste for it. If Tsunade needed sixteen pounds of human eyelids we would probably agree unconditionally and THEN ask why. Even if we still sometimes want to punch her for unrelated reasons.

Fuck it, if we get screwed over in the village by a few bad rolls, rather than poor choices on our part that's bad game design in my opinion

And we'll be the lass who makes people talk by body horror and genjutsu.:V

You have neither the charisma nor the political aptitude to do that. You're a spy, not a politician.

Did I say anything bad was happening to you?

I only said that dear old mom is about to go into labor... and something else has happened.

A boring party, however, is not something you will be getting.:V

We'd probably end up getting people to talk by making it so that one day the universe they live in stops being the one most people live in. They live through situations where they would be naturally inclined to put their secrets on display... except they didn't, and then its all merely deja vu. And then another situation and another. Illusion feeding on the subject's own memories and interactions, refining itself with every iteration.

You are typing words on a computer so I am forced to say 'yes'.

Admittedly this might be a good thing that puts us in the path of a steamroller a few months down. Sometimes Murphy takes the scenic route to get to you.

Moments of stress do tend to bring on labor, yes.

That's... literally how a Kuruma who loses control feels... at least in the AU.

Which is why you need to remain best friends with Kagami. or he'll kill you.:V

At least I'm not writing an omake on what happened... got no time for that today, unfortunately. Got to wait until the vote is done.

Oh if only you knew...

Hey, the power of the mind is a dangerous thing... especially when a family is literally born schizophrenic so that they have a way to control it.
Which is probably training wheels. What a human being starts as, even what they usually end as... yeah, there is no way you can expect someone to handle something like that. You would get the power with a few trappings of a human being duct taped on as an afterthought.

It deserves a healthy respect but fear and treating it as more than one more dangerous thing in a dangerous world enshrines it, gives it power. Makes something that is ultimately value neutral into the enemy.

We see this play out so many times in the Naruto setting. People always, always lash out and manufacture their own monsters by their own reflexive impulses. Hell, Naruto even made a shadow personality to shoulder his emotional burdens for him and then feared and fought the thing for most of the manga run. Then he figured out how to deal with it in a way that wasn't just strangling himself to death.

It may be different here but we'll still handle this by growing enough as a person, developing enough grounding and conviction and weight of personality, that we can carry our power's burden. Which, honestly, is rather light versus the weight of a Village or even just our friends.

We aren't just talking about the child. We are talking about what that child could become in fifty years, having developed just as far as the Sannin in canon and perhaps a touch more healthy for it.

1 Yeah. I'm not going to deny it.

2 And in this world, it also provides something very healthy... as seen with Mako, Keizo and Ayako herself, they need creative outlets for them to be able to function properly, and to remain healthy, and need their keepers to be mentally healthy so they don't lose control and allow their darker impulses and bloodlust to take control

Because in the end, the beasts are mental/emotional beings and will react like any cornered animal.

3 Not going to deny that either.

4 True, but it's a burden that we all have to face. Growing up is hard, and growing up in the Naruto world is doubly so.

5 One thing I will say is that if everyone in our little group just tries to help each other through the tough times to come, the ripple effects can and will change nations and history.

Edit: blame work and a rush for all that spaghetti.
