A true hero... in training (Pokemon Gym Leader's apprentice quest)

Psychic pokemon are boring. Let's get a Ghost.

[X] Stay here and talk to the police. Even if what she says might be true.
-[X]Pull whatever it was that the Team members put in the lake up and into view for the police, using something to keep from putting fingerprints on it.

Rose is probably right, but our work here is not yet concluded and if we stay, we can give Purple Protector more time to escape.
I'd say we could just get a psychic ghost, but that mix is fairly exclusive in ways we're unlikely to obtain, and most ghosts can learn psychic moves anyway, so sure, I'm on board. There's also a lot more interesting ghost pokemon than psychic pokemon as far as I am concerned, so that helps.

Hm *processes* *imagines resulting scene* (It's overly dramatic and hilarious) Fuck it, write-in.

[X] Stay here and talk to the police. Even if what she says might be true.
-[X] Our work is not yet done, somebody needs to stay behind to point the police towards the device that the criminals placed here to make sure their plans get properly foiled. You will stay behind so she can safely escape and protect her secret identity.
-[X] Ask Rose for her number so we can call her after police releases us.

Edit: and added Chopak's addition.

Write-In that describes what I just said? Of course I'm gonna vote for it :) But we need one more little thing:

[X] Stay here and talk to the police. Even if what she says might be true.

She's not a superhero and the police are/were right in trying to discourage her.

[X] Go with Rose and send a message to Violet from your pokenav, letting her know the situation has been resolved.
-[X]Pull whatever it was that the Team members put in the lake up and into view for the police, using something to keep from putting fingerprints on it.
[X] How do you know my name, Purple Protector?

Welp, looks like we're going to be a Good Boy. We definitely need to tell the cops about the device they planted though.

Welp, that was a kind of ominous end to the encounter, but at least all of us are alive and have our memories, so I'm counting it as a win.

I'm gonna guess that the Mr. Mime was Lucian's, just because we couldn't get a read on it with Eye of the Champion, so it's definently strong. Plus, it stopped an attack from a C+ mon with a move that's only supposed to mitigate attacks like it was nothing, so that's a clue.

Seeing Mr. Mime just no-sell that attack has renewed my desire for a Bronzong, we need a barrier-warrior!

Misdreavus or Litwick are my favorites there

That's two pretty good picks. I'd probably prefer Misdreavus for the flavor it gets from the pokedex entries. (The fact that it's native to Sinnoh also helps.)

Actually, looking at the map, once we're done in Veilstone City, Hearthome City would make a pretty decent next stop. What better place to pick up a ghost type than the ghost gym after all. (Luckily, nothing ever goes wrong when approaching the territory of planning ahead. Especially seeing how Veilstone is the least likely place to run into the Galactic Grunts again... yeah. We may have a problem coming up.)

I'd say we should also pick up a Bug type, which would cover Grass, Psychic, and Dark without having a weakness to any of them (Ghost being weak against Ghost and Dark). Which Bug, I'm not sure yet.

Maybe a Kricketot? Ridiculously common, though definitely a glass cannon.

Say it with me now. Scyther/Scizor.

It's stupidly fast, has immense combat power, a decently varied movepool, and as a Scizor it's actually fairly tanky on the physical side. A ton of resistances, and only one real weakness.

But is it native to Sinnoh?

No really. I can't remember.

That said, we're still more likely to find a Kricketot. Also, Kricketot/Kricketune has a better selection of actual Bug-type moves.

From a quick look at the wiki for a reminder, they can be caught in the Battle Zone.
Routes 229, 210, and 215. So north from Solaceon and west from Veilstone are our best bets for getting one sooner rather than later. Which means that if we're helping Maylene, we may run into one while we're helping her with the routes near her town.

Responsibility!

I'm alive. Will update in a couple days because I'm in bed with a cold. I always get sick on Christmas for some reason.

Also, Merry Christmas.

Looker
You sigh and shake your head. Rose looks surprised, not expecting that reaction from you. She grabs your arm with some strength and tries to drag you away.

"Come ooon. Don't be an idiot. They are going to lock you up! It's not fun at all, and they take your pokemon away until you are released!" She starts to shake you like a kid trying to get attention. She is… a lot stronger than it seems. It reminds you of Maylene. Slender body but twice as strong as you.

"I can't, Rose. I need to explain the situation to them and… If I'm ever going to be the champion I need to start working with the police. I can't just act outside the law. That's what criminals do!" You reply and, as soon as you say that, she looks like you slapped her. Oh, right. She does act outside the law.

"Criminals? No! When someone acts outside the law to do good, they are heroes! Like Gligarman for example." She replies angrily. At least she lets go of your arm.

"Oh, yeah? Not all of them do. Gligarman for example works with Captain justice, and he works with the law." You say, crossing your arms over your chest, starting to have flashback about some of the conversations you had at the academy.

"Wait… You read Gligarman's comics too?" She asks impressed. You looks to the side slightly embarrassed. Of course you did. And played the videogames, watched the movies… You really liked the shows from the Johto region, even if you had to watch them from the internet.

"Well… Yeah, a bit. And yes, maybe some heroes are outside the law, but not all of them." You reply and then stay silent. The sirens stopped does that mean they are already here…?

"Wait… did you just call me Rose?" She asks, finally realizing it. You wanted to see her reaction but never expected her to realize it so late. She then starts to panic, taking off her mask. "How did you know?! My disguise is perfect!"

You just… stare at her. Not sure if she was being serious or not… Oh, she really believes her disguise is good… She doesn't even change her color scheme! You are going to reply, but are interrupted by a male voice.

"Hey, you kids, what are you doing here?" He sounds annoyed. Probably because he expected two members of team Galactic and not… you two.

Rose turned around slowly to look at him before hiding behind you. Trying to decide between putting on the mask or hiding it in her bag. You feel slightly guilty about that. She really looks distressed right now. At least it seems like he feels a bit bad too, mistaking her panic for fear.

"Hey, little girl, don't worry. I'm not here for you. I'm looking for some people dressed in white and with blue hair. Did you see them?" He asks in a thick accent. It seems like he is foreigner. Maybe from Unova? Doesn't matter. You take a step in his direction and nod.

"Yes. We were attacked by them. They had a Kadabra and teleported away… Five minutes ago I think. Maybe less." You tell him trying to be as respectful as possible. Your pokemon are getting a bit nervous now because more police are approaching, so you decide to return them to their pokeballs. Rose does the same, her Torchic looking around trying to find an escape route for them.

The investigator nods and sighs. "Then I guess you should come with me. I need to ask some questions. You also need a check up just in case, those people sometimes use memory wipe or other mind-altering attacks. And that girls needs dry clothes." He says calmly. Rose tries to protest but is interrupted by her own sneeze. She looks down at her hero disguise clinging to her body and decides that yes, maybe she needs something dry to wear. "My name is Looker, by the way. I'm a member of the International Police and I'm investigating team Galactic… Anything you can tell me will be a huge help."

And with that you two started to follow the man into a police car. It feels like you are being arrested… And to be honest, you kind of trespassed and had a pokemon battle. You are not supposed to fight in a place like that.

It didn't take long to reach the station. A policewoman took Rose to the changing room and, while you waited, Looker offered you a phone to call someone. They took your things and pokemon for "security reasons" as soon as you arrived.

Yeah, they are not just going to ask questions. This is starting to look more like they are going to interrogate you.

Your first reaction is to call Violet… But then you think about Lily, laughing at you or being angry because you managed to get in trouble after being away from them for less than a day. Maybe you should call Cynthia and she can solve this? But that would mean give her trouble while she is working. You kind of don't want her to know that you are under arrest.

Are you under arrest? You are not even sure yourself.

Maybe your sister or Maylene…? They can help… right?

[] Call Violet. She can probably help… Even if she has no real authority like Cynthia or a Gym leader has.
[] Call Cynthia. The quickest way to get out of here. Even if she is busy with work.
[] Call your sister. Isn't this what you are supposed to do? Call your family so they can help you? She will be mad.
[] Call Maylene. She is… a gym leader. Has some authority. You don't know what her reaction will be.

[X] Call Maylene. She is… a gym leader. Has some authority. You don't know what her reaction will be.

Maylene can vouch for our character, and she's trusted. Too small a matter to drag Cynthia in, and Violet/Sis don't really have any rep of their own to use

Sigh. Lily will find out one way or another. And we shouldn't give Maylene more reason to pound on us.
