Welcome To Your New Life 2
Your family lived in a small house in the Kurama clan compound, in a house without mirrors, save for the one in your mother's room.
Your mother was different. You could feel it like you knew she was dangerous. There was an air of mystery around her that made you very confused.
Her smile was sweet, but it always seemed forced, like she was trying her best to not be scary.
Even when she felt safe, there was an energy with her that made her constantly on edge, and she spends a lot of time in her room, singing into a mirror. You did not see what was in the mirror that made it so special, but she would always see you and put you back into the living room whenever you tried to look into the room.
And then there was the fact your mom was also gone a lot of the time.
Your father around a little more often. But even he was strange and had his quirks. He would stare at a blank piece of paper, his eyes misty and blank, his hands moving without a brush or a pencil, making shapes with his fingers. Sometimes he would make dots. His face melancholic, as if he was remembering something he was creating something he wanted to remember, but he did not have the tools or the will to complete it.
But even then, those times were rare, as your father was always working too.
Your parents were ninja, your mother a Jounin and your father a was Special Jounin. And they were always out on missions.
So for the first several months of your life, your grandmother was the one who raised you.
Like your mother, she seemed to carry an air of mystery around her, but unlike your mother, she did not go to her room, but instead she let you watch her shadow morph and change. You were mesmerized by the shadows changing into shapes that were impossible to make.
She would always say that a good way to make something real is to have a brilliant imagination so that you could captivate whoever was watching.
But it was the times when all your family was together, was when they were really special to you.
Your mother would shower you with kisses and hold you tight in her arms, whispering in your ears about how much she missed you. Her demeanor changed. She did not have the air of mystery around her, her smile felt real, and the door to her room was locked, as if all her worries were locked behind it, and could not reach her. Her voice was beautiful, and every time she sang a lullaby to you, wings seemed to appear, making her become an angel.
Your father also changed. Gone was the melancholic smile and in came a real one, that wanted to capture the happiness in his memories in tiny penciled sketches. He cheered for you as you tried to take your first steps, and was there to catch you as you stumbled down.
And your grandmother laughed as she saw the wonder in your eyes as she continued showing you a play with her shadow.

You were not a normal girl. Like the rest of your family, you were different.
Most normal babies when they were born would cry loudly, their arms wiggling and they squirmed when they moved.
You were silent. Robbed of your voice before ever learning how to use it.
You were mute.
But your family was different too, and they were okay with that.
They loved you all the same.
