You take a step back, then another. Your mind racing to find a solution to this situation. Your two pokemon move quickly in front of you, trying to protect their trainer. In front of them, a Kadabra staring at you. Behind him, the criminal, now smirking knowing that he already won.
To the side, Rose and the other girl, fighting. Their pokemon almost tied in strength, but the Torchic was starting to win that battle bit by bit, even if that woman seems to be a good trainer.
On top of a container, Flash. The other pokemon. Strong, strong enough to be capable of fighting this Kadabra, probably. The only problem is that he doesn't look ready to fight. You are not even sure if he is aware of the situation everyone is in. You never understood Slowpokes.
The Kadrabra made a decision inside his mind and took a step in your direction. He was going to end this problem quickly erasing the memories of everyone here that wasn't the grunts. An easy feat for him that would only take a few minutes. He was a calm and focused individual. He knew what their real mission was, not like those two weaklings. He took another step in your direction.
You had to do something. You had to do something NOW. Looking around you had to… No, fighting wasn't an option. You just needed more time until the cops or Violet or someone was here.
"W-wait!" You yelled. The Kadabra actually stopped for a moment, willing to hear what you have to say. "A witness already escaped and the police is coming. I also called a friend, a strong one. You should go away now that you can." You said, trying to look as serious as possible. It was like trying to stare down a cannon aimed at your face.
The Kadabra, unimpressed, took another step in your direction.
"A-and that Slowpoke is stronger than he looks! He can break any mental barrier and uses it just to make everyone hear a theme song. Imagine what will he do when you start to mess with his trainer's memories." When you say that, the Kadabra stops. His eyes opening wide, slowly. He just realized that the music in his head wasn't coming from around him. It was from inside his head. For a psychic type this was seriously unnerving. Someone capable of passing through all of his barriers as soon as he was out of the pokeball? He never realized that someone was tampering with his mind until now. He looked at the Slowpoke in fear for a second.
"What's wrong, Kadabra? It's just a dumb Slowpoke. It's been up there all this time only doing the music thing!" Said the grunt, not understanding what the Kadabra was feeling.
You had the momentum now. Now, you only had to push forward. "That guy made this operation fail and erasing my memories will only help protect his ego. It's not worth the risk." You said, looking at that Kadabra. This was… working?
"The fuck are you talking about?" Replied the grunt, annoyed and confused. "I don't care if you beat me in a battle like that. I just don't want you to remember us. It's literally one of the point of our mission. Charon said…"
"SILENCE!" You heard inside your mind. You and the grunt took a step back. It was a low voice, almost a growl. The Kadabra was looking angrily at you. "Both of you. I don't need your opinions or suggestions." He took another step in your direction. "Do you think I'm just a tool my trainer lent to him? This is my mission as much as it's his. You DARE suggest I have no stakes on this? That I can let this be a failure?" He then stopped. Fang was ready to pounce in his direction and even Maelstrom looked ready to fight. "But you are right." Kadabra nodded after saying that.
"I'm… right?" You asked, not really understanding what he meant right now after what he said.
"Yes. That Slowpoke might be a problem and I don't have time to erase your memories." After saying that, he moved a hand in Flash's direction. His eyes started to glow and Flash started to float, confused. That was the move Psychic.
It took you a second to react and realize what was he doing. It was too late now. Flash moved his legs in the air, trying to swim. He was moving by instinct while his brain caught up with the situation. It took him a couple seconds more than you to understand what was happening. He was high above the ground, no longer above the metal container but the concrete.
"Slow…?" He said, finally realizing what was happening.
Kadabra moved his hand down in a quick motion and Flash rocketed straight to the ground. In a blink he went from being high above you to landing behind some boxes with the loud meaty sound of something hitting concrete at high speed. Your eyes opened wide.
The music stopped.
"Flash!" Rose suddenly turned around when the music stopped. She was worried, terrified. Something happened to her pokemon and she knew.
"Roselia, now!" The woman yelled at her pokemon. The Roselia fighting the Torchic used attraction. Rose was distracted so Torchic had no way of getting rid of the effects on his own. It was a powerful move.
Torchic moved in Roselia's direction, getting closer. When he was close enough the Roselia grabbed him and threw the Torchic over the edge of the concrete platform. Into the water. In that moment the attraction lost its effect.
"Ares!" Now Rose realized what happened. She looked back at where Flash was before running and jumping into the water. Her Torchic didn't know how to swim. She had to save him!
You were paralyzed for a second. What… What happened? Everything went too fast and out of your control. You had no way of stopping any of it. Fang tried to jump to attack the Kadabra but an invisible wall stopped him, making him bounce back.
"Thank you for that information… I feel much better now that no one is messing with my head. And now… Time to end this quick." The Kadabra said and lifted a hand in your direction.
For a moment the grunt seemed a bit nervous. He wasn't there to kill anyone. He wasn't there to kill a kid. He realized too late that even if he had the pokeball, the Kadabra was the one in charge. He moved his hand to Kadabra's pokeball, maybe he could stop him and kick that kid's ass until he decided to not talk. Maybe kidnapping him so they erase his memory with more time. Yeah, that was a good idea. No memories, no problem.
When he grabbed the pokeball it was stuck there, surrounded by a psychic barrier. He was never the one in charge.
Kadabra's hand started to glow, charging a Psybeam. It was a powerful attack from a powerful pokemon. You don't think you can dodge it. Not at this distance. Not from a pokemon like him.
Fang and Maelstrom stood now in front of you. Maelstrom bounced once, looking at you. He wanted you to lay on the ground, to hide behind them. They would take the hit for you, even if it was probably too strong for them.
Trust me, young man. Do you believe in destiny?
[] Be protected by your pokemon. Let them take the hit.
[] Move in the way. Protect your pokemon. Take the hit yourself.
[X] Believe.
