[x] Because it's not fair, because they killed you before you ever got a chance to live. Because they stole the future from you and took away your past and so if you could you would take everything from them.

I kind of waffled between this and the blood of a million lookshyans etc. I think this is the first time a vote has offered me plural sufficiently annihilating options, and honestly I'm delighted.

Anyway, I'm voting for this because, sure, freedom would be nice. Sure, a better world would be great. A moral lesson would be peachy.

But you know what? If any of those require letting Lookshy off, even a bit, fuck'em. Justice is its own reward.

Honestly at this point there's nothing left to say people haven't already said better and more passionately, but suffice it to say I'm glad to see you fucks finally giving him the recognition he deserves this thread so lively and so united on Team Fuck Lookshy.

I'm cool with basically any choice, I'm just going with this one 'cause it speaks to me a little more. It feels more personal, y'know? It moves past the concepts that seem too big for Alexius to immediately grasp and focuses in on like, almost giving him the capacity to want anything beyond his station so that he can be properly angry at Lookshy for taking that away from him if that makes sense? And I do think Alexius should start being selfish and start doing things to make himself happy first and foremost 'cause fuck man, he was trying to be noble and shit about rations even, he's done his time. Get a hot monster boyfriend or two, get some dick, mellow out a bit.

This is a genuinely convincing argument, and if it picks up steam I might well switch votes. I approve of a bit of selfishness. Alexius deserves to want things for himself.

A combination of notes towards the downsides of what I took one way and Zerban pointing out that Alexius deserves to be a little selfish. Cause honestly fuck.

You come here and you say we should burn the City to build another City. Do you not understand? The City begets suffering and the City will always beget suffering no matter who rules in its ivory towers.

The Dragons are not cruel by nature- they can be kind and warm and seem, even if just a seeming, good, but they are of the City and they cannot escape its nature. It is the nature of the City to be cruel. It is the nature of the City to make itself cruel. It turns its Karatzas and Jasons into Sidonias and that is what it does.

Do not touch its tainted soil. Do not build upon its shattered towers. Kill it, kill all who might let the dream live in their hearts, let Oblivion consume it all, and walk away.

Empire is a game of the cruel and the hateful. All those who sit down at its table will succumb to its evils.
Yet one day strangers will come to the old ruins, curiosity drawn by the echoes of lives once lived and the unpeopled wilderness that held such geographic promise. One day Xauma will put down their wolfcloaks for fur-lined tunics and soft cotton, one day Medbetjagroth will elect of their own a Speaker of Harmony. Friends of knowledge they will call themselves, and civilized ones. One day they will come and shift through the rubble and be ensourcelled by the jade and the purple and the purple jade. They will dismiss the villagers they met in the far-off mountains and valleys and by their words murder all of our people twice over, first by writing their damned poisonous lies about how necessary and heroic their deaths were for such a glorious flowering of culture and power, and then yet again when their words spread and linger and rot across time and distance as the same poison is used to strangled the death-cries of yet unborn slaves in yet unborn empires.

Or... or they could simply find nothing but the detritus of the living and some quaint fairy tales about evil giants and note it as some form of obscure local color.

[X] Because it's the only way for this to end. Because the only freedom you or any helot could ever have would be on the backs of a million Lookshyan dead. Fine then. If you had a choice you'd buy it with their blood.

You know, when we picked the red stone, most of us figured it means "Exalt as a Fire Aspect", but turns out it just meant "death by fire" :V

Ok, it was probably a personality thing, but still, holding on to that stone as we burn to death was just... damn...

Alexius is not a beast, despite Creation's best efforts to make him into one. If this final blow, cruelest and latest in a litany of betrayals, was to snuff out the last spark of humanity within him... that, I think, would be as profound a loss as anything else he's suffered. But neither is Alexius a hero or a healer. How could he be, when his life has afforded him no chances to dream of a better world? Mere survival is all a helot can aspire to, a bleak procession of miserable days that ends, inevitably, in a mass grave.

No more. It's time to break the chains. We will have freedom, no matter the cost.

So let the Dragons reap what they have sown in those perfect, orderly fields, watered with the blood of tens of thousands. Their City stands atop a graveyard of Alexius' kind, their bones long since ground to dust by marching boots. Let it burn away in the fires of revolution, all its so-called glories eclipsed by the pyre of its passing. Let Lookshy serve as a lesson: thus always unto tyrants. There are no gods for helots, or so the saying goes. Soon there will be no masters either.

[X] Because they told you you were sick, that you were wrong, but you know the truth. It's the world who's sick, not you. It's the world that's twisted and wrong, not you. So break it. Reset it. That's how you heal it.

Then kill them too. If Lookshy can be killed, so can Xauma. If Lookshy can be killed, so can Medbetjagroth.

But do not kill the City only to fashion another one out of its bones. Cursed seed will always yield a wretched harvest.

[X] Because you don't know what love is but you know hate, you know anger and shame and loneliness and hunger. Because Lookshy made you something less than human. So let them see the fruit of their labor.

I say we go for hate here, then we can slowly heal and move past the hate once we murder literally the entire city. Character development. Because we just got violated even further than helots normally were. We thought we had finally found one good thing about our life. One thing that made existing worth it. Nope. It was all a lie. Fuck them and fuck that. We deserve to be angry right now. Healing? He barely knows what healing even is. Fuck letting them get away with this. They told us we were evil and sick and wrong? Very well. Let us show them something evil and sick and wrong. Let us make them gouge their eyes out in horror as they weep tears of blood. For they have planted a dread and bitter harvest, and at long last it has borne fruit.

Then kill them too. If Lookshy can be killed, so can Xauma. If Lookshy can be killed, so can Medbetjagroth.

But do not kill the City only to fashion another one out of its bones. Cursed seed will always yield a wretched harvest.
Lookshy has carefully and meticulously forged the dagger at her throat and hung the blade from the rafters with every bone-encrusted edifice and every blackened clearing in the woods and every fenced in ghetto. If not for their great sins they would not have been sent one such as us.

Thus for Xauma and Medbetjagroth if we can scourge them as we plan on scourging Lookshy it would already be too late. Millions would already have been murdered. The lesson of Lookshy's woe would already have been forgotten in the place of pretty gilded lies. The way that we make certain that no one tries to ape Lookshy ever again is that we make sure that there's nothing alluring and actionable for a later empire to grab onto, we turn them into myths, Fomorian witches who defied the gods.

And nothing more.

I. Want. REVENGE.

There are excellent and eloquent options for hate and I regret not having anything equally drawn out for my justification. All I have to say, all I have to convince you, is this:

Let's burn this motherfucker to the ground.
Amen.

They want an empire built on blood and bones? Fine. We will return it to them a hundredfold. Let Lookshy learn the same fear Rome did at the march of Spartacus' feet. Let Lookshy burn.

Igne Natura Renovatur Integra

Lookshy. Must. Burn.

burn it to the fucking ground, and soul forge the leaders into a screaming eternal monument to their sins so that none will ever forget the cost of sinking so far into the dark. Then build something new to replace it.

It's remarkable. Every update has made me cheer for Xauma louder, wanting to see the City torn down and hollowed out like it's torn down and hollowed out so much in its own name. :V

As usual, enough atmosphere that I think it spontaneously starting raining inside my room.

I was tempted to go for blood of the million lookshyans but this is indeed more personal and I like it this way.

Also, an absolutely stellar job, Tenfold. Your skill at describing tone and feel of surroundings is something else.

I am just going to remind people that rule 2 is still a thing.

Don't go nuts here.

Edit: this feels even more appropriate.

Or, yknow, just kill them.

We already have sufficient moral justification to kill literally every single military and mid-upper-tier governmental official in Lookshy as well as like 90% of its armed forces, being any edgier about it's just getting greedy.
