You Are: A sector admiral of a strained imperium.

Can we maybe not call people 'fucking pussies' for having different ideas about what the best strategy to adopt is?

He's not being the most diplomatic about it, but the point he's making needs to be reiterated: people need to show a greater risk-taking capacity than they have hereto demonstrated in this quest. A good chunk of the successes we have now is because a subset of people pushed and pushed and pushed for bold action in the face of a storm of protest, and carried on doing so even when the resulting victory was picked apart and critiqued to death.

The people who "have different ideas about what the best strategy to adopt is" have a right to civility, and we will provide it, but they in turn need to recognize that we would not have the absolutely ridiculously good hand we have right now if their "best strategy" had won out.

Either way, @Gunman has convinced me-- against my natural inclinations-- that while buying a capital ship for 55 PC is wasteful, it is worth it because cracking the Chaung Ma defenses means earning hundreds of wealth, at which point we can buy it or another battlecruiser outright. (I will, however, have conniptions if this eventually leads to us not taking up a strategy/tactics boosting assignment as a Naval Academy Commandant or a stint as a staff officer at fleet theatre command)>

Therefore, I ask that all "Harass" voters consider the order of magnitude difference that commanding the Sword of Democracy will make when we assault the Chaung Ma defenses, turning a grueling battle into something I think we can all agree is much more doable, yes?

I'd like to think a little bit outside the box.
Send messengers to imhotep, and have them clear out a city of all population.

This is in preparation for a massive bluff.

Arrive and start threatening the battle cruisers.

Nuke your own City.
Make them go "wtf!!!???"

Tell them you have a fleet ar Chuang Mu, that has simultaneously nuked a similar sized City of them.

Tell them that they have 13 hours to surrender.

If they do not, you tell them you will nuke another city at imhotep. Imediately youy tell them your messengers will depart with instructions to nuke a similar sized City at Chuang Mu.

This is all a bluff. Communication home takes weeks

You have been interdicted all messengers.

  • [X] Harass. If you combine your ships with those of the newly arrived heavy cruiser squadron then you can try to pick apart the rogue fleet over Imhotep.
[X] Raid Chuang Mu, Again. You can force these battleships off Imhotep if you threaten their home system in greater force.
[X] Demand Tribute. Demand that the local citizens surrender then pay tribute, loading all available shipping with high value manufactured goods before sending them up into space with sacrificial crews. (Time taken and yield variable, depending upon Diplomacy and Subterfuge rolls, in the range of 5-75 Wealth)
[X] Return Home. You have achieved your goals, return home with your prizes and/or loot.
[X] Their problem. The Imperial Fleet is exhausted. Now is the time for the Duchies to show their patriotism!

-[X] conscript every ship you can, and use political favour to borrow more from every local ducal House and crush the rogue fleet over Imhotep

[X] Reinforcements. The Imperial Navy is keeping it's capital ships in reserve as a fleet in being, but there is now a squadron of NASP capital ships pushed into Imperial space. You are not equipped to fight them but your job is to serve as a trip wire not deal with an invasion. Request that Fleet Command send heavy vessels to assist.

Are we raiding on the start of the next strategic turn or now? That will affect whether we get any new ships to raid with.

Hmmm if we are getting the new battlecruiser, who are we going to assign as captain of our current hc?

Since we seem like we're going to get the battlecruiser that we captured earlier, petition to change the name from Sword of Democracy to Brunhilde?

I figure we assign it to captain Sones temporarily until the crisis is over, then probs shift everything around to grant the governers nephew a light cruiser or patrol cutter from one of our most competent captains after which we assign them to the HC.

Reinhard can use the BC in time.

Captain Sones because he is the best Captain we have. Wison can be temporarily made XO of the Endeavor while we transfer Adald. This gives her a flashy battle to be part of and gives us extra time to promote her.

Sones is a strong choice but I wonder if we could get Baronet Rownett a promotion to go with the command? He's highly skilled, may have some political relevance, and we can better afford to lose him than Sones.

My theory on future plot points (aside from the evential death of the Empress and multi-faction Civil War):
- remember that the NASP accepts any signatory world? From Space Vaticans to Space North Korea, they are not picky... hence in the future a House or several Houses will try to defect his worlds to the NAsP if he sees more gain there and leave the empire or if they would help in his bid to become the Emperor.
- another border state takes advantage of the war between NASp and Empire
- Earthers would probably return to spread more tech and chaos for their chosen charity cases.
- the Empress becoming paranoid, purges her children, chaos ensue.
- widespread serf uprising (unlikely due to 1984-like internal security) that would cause us to pick a side.

Just cross out "dem" from the name and call it "The Sword of Autocracy".

Changing only 3 letters will save ton of wealth on signage and paint.
