It's a bit more complicated then that. Your tribe lost a lot of men, due to women with children tending to stay at camp and taking care of the kids. For the clans, the losses are more even since child rearing as a matter for the whole family, mostly carried out by the elders.
So yes, they are still slightly larger the you, though the different demographics and child care practices even out the scales in regards to cultural assimilation.

Oh, they're going to retain most of their damage for a while. They need this more than we do in fact.
Also in the case of a wedding, what happens with their presumably nomadic practices?

You are going to struggle with the losses for at least a generation too. Make no mistake, you have been decimated so badly that it will be hard to do anything else then scrounge for food next year, since a second winter with excessive activity like this one will wipe you out.
In regards to their nomadic lifestyle, they would stay in the valley with you for the time being. The reasons for that are complex.

I'll certainly not invent the political marriage.
Personally I'd prefer the duel, setting everything on a roll of the dice is just fun, but this is much better than the alternative.

Honestly, while I would prefer that we not combine with them for fear of the cannibal part of their culture, OP has said that we stand a good chance of not entirely assimilating that part. Plus, I think that we'll have at least the next three years before any civil war might start, else I doubt this would be an option presented.

Having the efforts of two Great Hunters as well as the overall increased hunter population should all but guarantee our survival, and it would allow us to focus much more on food production come spring instead of trying to defend ourselves from an equivalent foe.
Having a Faction with a chance to stir up trouble while we assimilate is a much better alternative to having an all out war in the middle of Winter with a depleted population.

Pretty sure Azel doesn't believe in that kind of fantasy-genetics.
These heroics are not likely to inheritable.
I'd rather we chest bust out of them later than start risk a war come spring.
Failing that, we can strengthen and go our separate ways later.

Their kids are probably going to be pretty great hunters, simply by learning from their parents, but they are not any more likely to turn into Great Persons or get demi-god stats.
That being said, it might turn into a rather prestigious line down the generations as all of this here turns into myth and legend.
