[X] Promise Food or Weaponry for the Hostages. Return home and gather a sizeable group to attack and free your brethren.

Here's what could easily happen if we attack. We'll lose, then the rest of the village won't know about the threat. These guys will continue picking people off potentially for years before anyone finds out. It was sheer luck that anyone found out this time. We know how easily we can get screwed by a single terrible roll.

True and i am leaning to retreat, but
The benefits for winning (which are less than the losses we could take) would reinforce our trait, turn our Personality into a hero and save our hunters

[X] You cannot afford a fight now, with the possibility of dying without informing the rest of the village. Fall back for now, and prepare for revenge in the spring.

We actually cannot afford any more losses at this point, we're barely holding on as it is. As much as I hate to say it, we're going to have to pull back for now.

Damn it we should have went full bore instead of a gently poke, we could have destroyed them. >.<

You know, there is a write-in option if neither abandoning them, ransoming them or fighting right now suits you guys.

...
THATS RIGHT
We can lie, we can promise them weapons and food so that they keep the Hostages alive, and then we return fully staffed and with the advantage of surprise attacking.

Something like that

@Azel, does our Great Hunter also fare well in Winter Combat?

Also... how the hell do they speak our language? Finding people who speak our language would have been a gamble, but these Yetis do?

My main concern is whether the weather will permit a large scale attack.

When strength of arms isn't enough, you should use your strength of mind. Fighting smarter will always bring better results than fighting harder.

It's not worth it to give them weapons and potentially clues to better tech just to save three people. Especially when they'll use those weapons against us later.

Considered that.

They've been here long enough to learn and they already have stone spears, Azel put Obsidian under stone technology so I am reasonably confident they aren't going to get our secrets from a finished product, furthermore they already know they exist to request them and probably have a handful already from our people.

Not a concern with current votes though.

Also... how the hell do they speak our language? Finding people who speak our language would have been a gamble, but these Yetis do?

This so much, I think I was reading into this comment too much

Will there be magic in this quest?
Either very low-key or not at all. If something is magic or just a mixture of luck and coincidence is for the reader to decide.

Then again Psychic Yetis are pretty damn magic.

Nah, my best guess is normal people with Snow Shoes and lots of heavy furs obscuring their outlines.

Who also happen to be cannibals.

It had huge paws with long claws instead of hands, yet it gripped a crudely made wooden spear in them.

Perception is a big part of this but claws aren't very practical if you skinned a bear or something.

We will have to track them even further than where we already went, in literal killer weather.

There's no guarantee coming back won't just waste resources and skilled hunters for nothing.

If we lie to them about bringing food and weapons for trade, they will have to meet with us to actually get them. We hunt them down at the meeting point and take back our hunters by force. We should be able to scout out the meeting point beforehand to set up our own traps or watch against a surprise from them. Even if they don't bring the captives with them, we still get cannibal blood in retribution.

And they might bring even more of their own, or they might outflank us.

And yet, they've come down from the mountains, and we still need to hunt...

I'm really torn.
