[X] Plan: Little Snow
-[X] [Hunters] Tell them to try to fish in the rivers and streams. More supplies are always good and it will make them feel useful. (Food)
-[X] [Action] Look at the rocks of the valley and see if something useful can be made from them. (Might find a way to make new tools or weapons.)
-[X] [Action] Look for a way to defend the camp or at least make it easier to detect the beast if it comes. (Might find something. Might reassure the people.)

@Azel, did they lose a fight with a ground sloth?
"You want us to believe in a beast that walks on his hind legs and is tall as two men?" It was meant as a reproach, but the boy just nodded. "That is so fat that it could feed the entire tribe?" Another flurry of nods. "And a pelt large enough to cloth four of us?"
Also, will you let us make poison out of the poison ivy?
One particularly unlucky girl was in quite some pain after stepping through the stalks of what was quickly dubbed Fire-Vine, for it felt on her skin as if she had passed through a flame, though even that passed after just a few minutes again.

Wrong continent. Both ground-sloths and poison ivy are from the Americas (though poison ivy apparently also grows in the far east of Asia, the more you know). I'm restricting myself to Eurasia and Africa in terms of plants and animals.

The plant in question is more akin to good old stinging nettles, which is why the effect faded so quickly again.

As for the beast, I'll keep you guessing for now.

Maybe it was a large bear considering it was able to stand on two legs. Also I am concerned that letting the hunters do what they want might lead to them trying to get revenge or prove their worth by fighting the thing again.

What should be done with the remainder of the hunters?
[] [Hunters] Let them mourn their lost kin and friends, and let them decide themselves what to do. (Unknown effect.)
[] [Hunters] Tell them to go hunting, so that they can rebuild their confidence. (Food, low-efficiency due to lack of skilled hunters, will deplete weapon supplies further)
[] [Hunters] Tell them to try to fish in the rivers and streams. More supplies are always good and it will make them feel useful. (Food)
[] [Hunters] Tell them to go with the gatherers and find a way to make new weapons. (Might find a way to make new weapons.)
[] [Hunters] Tell them to guard the camp. (Reassures the people.)

Mourning could lead to dumb decisions... or bold ones...
Hunting for food isn't as useful now that we lost the tougher ones.
Fishing is a good move, fish remain a viable source of food even in winter.
Weapon-finding might work fairly well, and would fix the issue of running out of weapons.
Reassurance is kind of important right now, people are worried.

What does the rest of the tribe do? Pick two options:
[] [Action] Clearly the invulnerable creature was a spirit, not a beast. Try to find a way to appease the spirits for this slight. (Might reassure the people.)
[] [Action] The spirits have aided the tribe to get to this valley. Try to ask them for guidance again. (Might reassure the people.)
[] [Action] The people always believed that the ancestors have become one with the world again. Maybe you can ask them for guidance? At least one of them is not even far. (Might reassure the people.)
[] [Action] Look at the trees and see if you can make new spears from their branches. (Might find a way to make new weapons.)
[] [Action] Look at the rocks of the valley and see if something useful can be made from them. (Might find a way to make new tools or weapons.)
[] [Action] Look for a way to defend the camp or at least make it easier to detect the beast if it comes. (Might find something. Might reassure the people.)

Spirit appeasement focuses more on animism, and, assuming the bear doesn't come fuck us all up (very good assumption), will almost guarantee reassurance.
Spirit guidance focuses on naturalism, and could go either way.
Ancestor Spirits focuses on the obvious, and will probably have a middle ground between the above two.
Weapons are nice.
Weapons or Tools could be very nice, but is less likely to be immediately effective.
Hail Mary problem solver.

Taking a few chances, but even if one or even two don't work, one succeeding should turn around the trouble we're in.

Hmmm... Okay. Not a sloth. This thing had sharp claws and sharp teeth. I'm guessing some kind of bear, but I'm not sure.

Reassurance through helpful action.

The beast is less likely to attack a group, the gatherers are most at risk for the moment so sending the Hunters with them both provides needed guards and potentially new weapons.

The chance for new weapons gives the Hunters a productive means to avenge their lost comrades, should reduce depression and foolishness.
This also has the benefit of getting more familiar with Trees, these are very new to our people and a useful resource will make this strange land more comfortable, our people already fear them a little re:camp discussion.

The general camp also requires reassurance, this would be best served by defending the camp, there are more threats than the beast and significant numbers of guards at the camp is not a long term option

That sounds like a bear. Which might as well be the Terminator when you're using basically bone weapons.
