[X] This year has showed you the seething pot of madness on which Durrahe keeps a lid. You can't make Virmire's research institutes less insane, but you can ensure that they're communicating clearly. Perhaps it's time to institute a review of their reporting procedures. When you're giving them funding like you are, you'd appreciate being notified of what the hell is happening to it. Gain an option next year to review and update accountability requirements for research programs benefiting from federal funding.

Did we implement a federal system at some point? I thought Virmire was a unitary state.

Also I think we have unity on this vote.

This will be expensive and time consuming, but at least it's before we became an empire sized polity.

It's sort of an edge case. Out of practicality, Virmire has a lot of institutions that operate autonomously. You are running an interstellar polity, after all. True centralization would be impossible. It gets exactly no screen time, but you have subordinate continental administrations that have the power to handle their own affairs. While the emergency powers assumed during the war have made it so your office can issue directives to these districts which they must obey, in practice they retain broad control over their jurisdictions because you have nothing like the time or resources that true unitary control would involve. There are also limited racial governments instituted at the demand of the contributing polities, over which you have no formal authority. They have very little ability to exercise their practical authority at this stage, though, largely because almost nobody cares about them anymore and they're Council loyalists.

Combat archaeology.
A brave new field of study:V

We already have a Kirk Hero Unit expy, why not make the next one a Salarian Indiana Jones? :D

Salarians die too quickly. It has to be a crazy Volus:V

@PoptartProdigy
Actually, it just occurred to me that the Personal Barrier Shields are going to be a boon to our Volus.
Maybe not military grade, but the ability to put additional kinetic shielding on your civilian suit makes them that less likely to suffer accidents or puncture damage.

It would likely be a luxury item due to cost, but certain researchers have commented on the potential.

Now to find MASTER-SLAVE control system, get people to TALK for once, and look into our future debacles (Kinetic barriers, Quarian cooperation, Megacorp-Monopoly, Rachni front, etc.)

You're going to have to be a little more specific.

1. What are the parties doing?
2. Any new parties?
3. Current agendas?
4. Notably Influential Representatives?
5. Any scandals involving Government authorities?
6. Have the Asari found a way to get the Government to back there insurance on those sweet Vacation homes yet?

#6 is a joke but feel free to use it as a scandal.

1+2: You get automatic notifications of new major parties. There's a minor party for every issue around the core, but at present none with any measure of political clout.
3: Independence remains a strong movement, even if you've deferred the issue for now. Militarism is a constant. Some of the more insightful representatives have begun talking about looming economic troubles.
4: Your perennial and stubborn adversary, Sugoma Damnir, won himself a seat in the Assembly, and speaks frequently on the need to look to Virmire's economy. He's one of the aforementioned insightful ones, and has been pushing hard for a renewed focus on economic programs. Ymir Tan'val, a batarian woman, has found a fair amount of influence by taking a largely loyalist (to you) stance.
5: People are focused elsewhere for now, and nobody has recently screwed up enough. Not to say that there are no scandals, but there are none of serious note.
6: They have not. Truly, a travesty.

And I want to bring something to everyone's attention when we're talking about the combat drones approach and shoot tactics (which are the same as the LOKI mechs in ME2)

WHAT is the most common type of infantry that the Reaper's use during their invasions? Husks, unintelligent hive-minded berserk mech-zombie. The drones don't need to be smart unless they have an organic officer oversight to give special tactics but otherwise an army that marches and shoots at anything without proper IFF? Not the greatest but if will spare organic troops for other more specialized jobs or to keep them from psychological damage.
