Incidentally, a whole bunch of stupid robots doesn't really make much sense. Especially not robots that are this stupid. I mean, if you're going to make combat robots, then you should at the very least give them some basic combat knowledge, otherwise it's just a waste of resources.
Which makes me suspect that their current behavior is not intended, but a fallback mechanism of such. A set of basic programming they use when their primary control system is disabled or destroyed.
So, be carefull with what we poke at.
Personally, I suspect that the bots are meant to be commanded by a person rather than function independently. They're defaulting to dumb flying brick with a gun on it behavior because there's no security personnel to tell them to use more advanced tactics.
