I saw Quinton hesitate, but he soon did as I said and handed over the package "Lady Blossom, you... are absolutely certain your plan will work?" he stuttered at me.
"Entirely certain, now go," I rasped at him, pointing right over at the Church. The butler then nodded, ran off and took a protesting Trevor by the arm.
Not that I had time to watch them go, as right now that Einzbern machine-woman was firing off bolts of searing mana from on high, which I was left frantically scrambling to get away from. I clenched my teeth, having no idea if my plan really would work, or what would become of me if I did, and began running in a wide circle, with Karisviel now levitating and raining down her screeching blasts.
All the while I was muttering under my breath the chant, or rather what verses I'd find out, as my family was determined that I would never at least uncover the full version of it. I multi-tasked by hastily wrapping off the package's strings and papers, pleased to find I was correct in guessing there was a tiara within, albeit one far more stained than I'd imagined.
As I rushed to finish the summoning ritual's last lines, I found that I'd run right around to the very place I'd began, completing the circle that Frau Einzbern here had been so helpful to blast out for me. Shouting out loud "Anfang!" I tossed the tiara straight into the centre of the circle before she had a chance to react, the resulting bright light the completed ritual taking the homunculus off-guard and making her stumble to the ground.
...This was it. I was summoning a Heroic Spirit, the very act my family had left Japan seventy years ago to get away from, using the very catalyst that was supposed to be my father-in-law's, a man I now had no idea what to think of.
Yet the bright flash of the completed ritual gave way not to a triumphant blaze of glory, but a seething dark crimson-and violet miasma. I gasped, had I done something wrong?
Well, I was soon shown that if I had done it wrong, I wouldn't want to be right. For before my eyes a warrior clad in midnight-black armour stepped out, letting out a yell as she brought down a two-handed sword right upon Karisviel's shoulder. Had to say, she was the last thing I expected a tiara catalyst to give me, but I couldn't complain.
I could see the homunculus girl wince in pain as the heavy blade cleaved into her, but to my disbelief, even the weapon of a Hero couldn't finish her off, as she kept redirecting her own prana to the source of her wound, to resist and recover from the sword's blow.
"No, we swore this Class would not be summoned again..." I could hear Karisviel softly gasping. Er, I hope that just referred to the advantage of me getting Saber or something like that.
My Servant was then sent stumbling backwards when a volley of arrows came her way, causing her to let out a scream as a few shots pierced right through the chinks in her armour, a couple even went straight through her armour directly.
That marked another woman's entrance into the scene, a longbow-wielder with snowy white hair, right now tied into a long braid, who promptly leapt up onto the closest crag. The sheer size of her bow didn't appear to be for show, being supported by her quite muscular body. She was obviously of the Archer Class, in fact I almost took her for an Amazon, but no, the silvery-blue coat and gown she wore were far too recent to be from the days Greek Mythology, unless she and the Einzbern girl had been playing some serious dress-up.
"Well my subject, is this what the enemy first sends us? A mere Princess pretending to be a Knight before a Queen and these Wisterias' little dress-up doll?" Archer gave a mocking laugh.
"Hey, what did she call me?!" I was first to snap out, regardless of that I could be two seconds away from getting an arrow in my throat.
"At least I am a true Princess," my Servant shouted back, "And not an unladylike brute who disgraces the noble rank of 'Queen'".
At first, Archer was left silently seething at those words, but then she let out a cold chuckle and asked, "Tell me then, what sort of perfect, proper princess is summoned as Avenger?"
A-Avenger, what? That was not one of the seven classes I'd been told about, from the sound of it I thought maybe I should've gone with Mad Enhancement.
'Avenger' took it even worse, as she shrieked out and lunged at the stone outcrop Archer stood on. The Servant of the Bow however, just pointed said bow skywards and, not even needing to a draw an arrow this time, let her loud and powerful voice sing out, pulled the drawstring and shot its soundwaves high into the air.
Before Avenger could reach our foe there came a great rumbling noise, as Archer's voice showed itself to be strong enough to, when amplified by her bow, cause a combined snowfall and rockslide to come down... right on top of us!
Wasting no time, I activated my Mystic Code, chanting until my hands were encased in crystal gauntlets. Made entirely of jewels, they could absorb Mana and infuse it with themselves, and with my martial arts training they granted me enough strength to punch straight through the rockslide and snowfall coming my way, even if I was forced to unleash an exhausting flurry of blows and jabs to get all the way through.
After I'd punched my way through and escaped an icy tomb, I could see Avenger had got through in turn by swinging her broadsword, which she'd coated in what looked to me like searing poison. Again that dark aura was pulsating out of her, but the sight was ruined a bit when she plunged her sword into the ground to pause for breath.
All that, and Archer, her gaze peering down from above, was still far from tired, and I noticed Karisviel coming back up too, seeming no worse for wear after Avenger's strike on her.
[ ] I have to call a truce. That Church should still be close-by, let's try discussing things in there.
[ ] I can't continue this fight, Avenger and I will have to make a break for it to the Wisteria Manor. Let's just hope my parents-in-law will be understanding...
[ ] I can't continue this fight, luckily the Church should be nearby.
[ ] Let's finish this! I'll take Karisviel:
- [ ] Run up to her, dodge her blasts and punch right where Avenger struck her.
- [ ] Run up to her, grapple her and throw her to the ground, if not off a cliff.
- [ ] Grab part of the rockslide and throw it right at her.
- [ ] See how many of her mana blasts my jewel gauntlets can absorb before tackling her.
- [ ] Get her near a ledge, then punch hard onto the ground.
- [ ] Write-in.
[ ] Let's finish this! I'll take Archer, but I'll need my Imaginary Numbers Mystic Code to even scratch her:
- [ ] An ethereal sword able to far extend its length or arc.
- [ ] A mana cannon, surrounded by rune-like circles with the numbers inscribed on them.
- [ ] An all-concealing suit that infuses all my martial arts, my very touch, with energy.
- [ ] A pair of boots, letting me skate along lines of ether and deliver spirit-piercing spinning kicks.
- [ ] A pair of glasses, letting me see where spiritual energy is strongest and weakest, telling me where to strike.
- [ ] A mana motorcycle, letting me drive along spiritual lines.
- [ ] Write-in.
[ ] Write-in.
Edit: Information on Avenger and Archer has suddenly appeared to me as:
[ ] Numbers and letters.
[ ] Colours.
[ ] Gemstone levels.
[ ] Poetry.
[ ] Worded titles.
[ ] Write-in.
