[X] Stand, Fight

It sounds like we're surrounded, and we'll not run from some fucking Beowolfs, we're Pyrrah Nikos

[X] Stand, fight

We did not become strong by fleeing a mere handful of mongrels.

Since never I'd hope.

I'd love if people voted with their hormones less. It does the author a huge disservice when they've crafted an interesting world for us to read but we can't be bothered to care because we're obsessed with stupid teenage romances.

You say that let you immediately talk about not wanting to even meet a character, Jaune, because you don't like how he was portrayed in other fanfic which is in itself a dishonor to the QM who likely spent time crafting their own version of the character who may be an interesting character in their own right along with world building.

[x] Strategic Retreat

Fighting on the enemy's terms is foolish, but running away is a cowardly action. Hence, we relocate to a better location and face the enemy there.

Too bad I got that in so late. We've probably got a fair number of fire and forget votes, so it probably won't pick up too much traction

Not sure it fits Pyrrha's character?

If she wishes to fight, she wants to win, and will therefore stand. If she wants to retreat, she'll disengage, not continue fighting. A fighting retreat - that is what you're going for, I presume? - therefore seems moderately unlikely?

The way I see it, she is still fighting to win. However she's currently not at the most advatangeous position, and therefore pulling back just to find better terms to face the enemy on. I think it balances Pyrrha's refusal to retreat from a fight she could possibly win with the fact that given all the factors, just standing her ground may not be the most tactically sound decision right now.

Not really?

I mean, are you saying Pyrrha can't recognize the potential advantage in taking an action other than standing her ground to win a fight?

Pyrrha is experienced enough to know you don't always have to go charging into a fight, but she also doesn't like to back down from one.

The goal if the tactical retreat is to find a better place to engage the Grimm, and to also pick off (or just lose) some of the Grimm in the relocation.

Sorry to burst your bubble here, but I'm biased against partnering with Jaune or forming any close relationships with him. Whatever words your trying to put in my mouth regarding 'not even wanting to meet him' makes me roll my eyes.

I feel there's a difference between hand-in-pants1 voting which is completely and utterly revolting versus disliking a character because he's constantly butchered in other stories; the degree of disrespect shown isn't even remotely comparable. But a that's just personal opinion.

1By that I mean voting because of a fetish for a specific pairing to a complete disregard of everything else in-story or because Jaune's the only vehicle which wank fantasies can be realized.

You pretty much missed the point. I was pointing that people were outright saying they didn't want anything to do with Jaune just because they didn't like the canon character or the 'fanon' version with 'power wank' with it seemingly being more about the dislike over the character themselves than just shipping. Even the QM called the players out on that.

Also really think the whole hating 'fanon' Jaune because a lot of stories make him overpowered is just really, really stupid. I mean I've seen plenty of Worm stories where Taylor gets the same exact treatment and none of the hate or at least as vocal. And most of those kinds of stories I've never even ran across even when reading about fics with Jaune as the main character. I've also read fics where when Jaune wasn't the main character I've never seen any of this 'power' wanking.

Honestly it feels like the vocal(not everyone since everyone is titled to their own opinion) people that hate fanon Jaune are just being whiny to an annoying degree. They seem to have a nasty habit to whine about Jaune every single time he comes off and I'm just sick of it at this point because it shows up a ridiculous amount of times even before he gets real screen time. I'd find that annoying even with a character I absolutely hated since I really don't want them brung up a lot of times just for people to vocally hate on them constantly.

I'm honestly confused why they whine so much since they could just stop reading any fics that has him as the main character if they have such issues and it would cost them absolutely instead of forcing the rest of us to listen to them constantly complain about a character to ridiculous degrees.

It's not about my personal opinion of Jaune. This Pyrrha would not spend five minutes with him, because it's not within her character to bother with him beyond proving her own unquestionable superiority.

Sounds like you missed my point entirely and you're trying to make excuses for some of the worst tendencies of fandom

Personally, I am unapologetically opposed to voting on the basis of OOC waifu/husbundo considerations; @Lilithium's sincere interest in historical Jaune aside, looking at the conversation in this thread, it does look like that we have a group that are interested in doing just that.

What are you talking about? I was pointing out that many people main issue with Jaune seemed more to be that they didn't like him because of 'OP fanon Jaune' and canon Jaune and many voiced not wanting anything to do with him in this quest even though this is a different version of him. It would be completely understandable if they didn't want to do shipping related things but it was pretty obvious it was just a general irrational dislike of him expressed vocally by many people. That kind of thing tends to be really annoying for the rest of us that would like to interact with all the characters we like and/or wanting to meet a version actually based on their historical counterpart.

As for the worst tendencies of the fandom I would say the constant Jaune hating from the more vocal haters is a major thing since many of us and even those that are neutal towards him get sick and tired in regards to the constant complaints about the guy. Especially the asinine 'fanon Jaune' hate since while nothing is forcing them to read Jaune stories they are forcing everyone else to listen to them complain about him all the time.

I did not miss your sentiment regarding that. Here is my original reply to you on that topic:

Frankly, I do think you're trying to make a defense for the worst tendencies of fandom. Especially in a quest where people voting on fetish tendencies can actually sway the plot in a significant way. For example, the comment you originally quoted was a complaint against a person who voted based on shipping, in a vote that had nothing to do with that at all. That is frankly disgusting to see.

[X] Run, flee

Reminder that while we fight these grimm we're losing the mission. And that is not excellent

It's not about my personal opinion of Jaune. This Pyrrha would not spend five minutes with him, because it's not within her character to bother with him beyond proving her own unquestionable superiority.
He's currently one of the bare few people to have actually caught her attention at all, since coming to Vale. His initiative was notable enough that Pyrrha felt a slight BSOD moment at the thought that he'd beat her if she didn't jump into the initiation immediately.

Much like with Yang and Ruby being notable, Pyrrha's likely to look into that unexpected competence, if only to decide whether her interest was warranted. Depending on Jaune's characterization, she'll either decide that he's dreck like most people or that he's worth knowing.
